Avatar n tn You have symptoms of orthostatic hypotension (also called orthostatic intolerance). Orthostatic hypotension is a form of low blood pressure; the blood vessels do not constrict (tighten) as you stand up. This condition is usually a symptom of an underlying condition rather than a disease in itself. The drop in blood pressure reduces the flow of oxygen to the brain.
Avatar f tn Glucose intolerance is when the body does not utilise the glucose in your body properly and the fasting blood glucose level is above 6.0 mmol/L or your blood glucose level is over 7.8 mmol/L 2 hours after consuming 75g of glucose. At this stage, with life style changes and exercises, you can still avoid getting diabetes. You could say it is pre diabetes. The symptoms of glucose intolerance can be those of hyperglycaemia and also tingling sensations.

Avatar m tn What are your Free T3 and Free T4 levels? Please post them, with reference ranges, which vary from lab to lab and have to come from your own report. TSH does not cause or alleviate symptoms. It's the actual thyroid hormones that cause (or alleviate) symptoms, with Free T3 correlating best. Your A1c indicates that you have diabetes and that's what's causing your symptoms of frequent urination, weight loss, etc. Are you keeping track of your daily fasting blood sugars?
Avatar f tn At the moment she is lethargic, has no appetite and unable to walk around but at least she is alive. If she is to die of hypokalemia, what symptoms would she be experiencing right now? She is sleeping peacefully, her heart rate and heart beat seem normal. Could she go in a coma in any minute? Should I continue administering saline subquateneously or would the NaCl make her hypokalemia even worse? Please Help!

Avatar n tn Dear Dr. Nundy, I was diagnosed Hypokalemia with a potassium level of 3.1 (range 3.5-5.5). My levels are jumping from 3.6 to 3.1 (multiple times tested low). Would you consider potssium 3.1 dangerously low, and is it normal for potassium levels to fluctuate by this much?
Avatar f tn Today is Friday and I have gained 4 pounds (I never gain weight), my bp is a little high (120/80), and last night I felt like my heart beat was slow but hard and my chest hurt, my legs were crampy and achy, I was really thirsty (even though I drank a ton of water and I kept having to go to the bathroom). Are these symptoms of hypokalemia? My cardio is not in the office today. I need to know if I should cut back my florinef to only .

Avatar f tn The above answer (hypokalemia) is a common cause of prominent U-waves at an ECG, though it can be congenital too. Hypercalcemia can cause the same. The U-wave comes after the T-wave in the QT-interval. It isn't always seen on a rhythm strip. Hypokalemia (potassium deficiency) is a common problem for those who have eating disorders. You can read more about hypokalemia: [http://www.medhelp.org/medical-information/show/679/Hypokalemia] Good luck!
Avatar n tn bacterial overgrowth was negative, lactose intolerance was negative but fructose intolerance was positive. My control number was 11 and the end number was 44...I was told anything resulting in +20 (so mine would be 31) is positive. Okay, so here are my questions...what does the 44 mean (if anything) low intolerance, high intolerance?
Avatar f tn I have been in ER twice with hypokalemia (level 2.8). Is this normal with Hypokalemia? Only other health condition epilepsy.
Avatar m tn I would suggest that you make an appointment to see your doctor and ask if you can have a glucose intolerance test and do a HBA1C blood test. a HBA1C blood test will show the average glucose levels in the blood stream over a period of approximately 3 months. It may be that you have an insulin intolerance. This means that your pancreas is producing insulin, but this is not being used adequately by your body.
Avatar f tn I have a glucose intolerance so all they did for me was fasting bloodwork... had me eat and took my blood again in two hours...
Avatar n tn If you correct your hypokalemia, your QT time will probably normalize too. Hypokalemia will prolong QT, regardless of the "TU wave fusion" which can happen in extreme cases. I would assume that K+ = 3,1 would prolong QTc by 20-50 msec. Correcting your hypokalemia would possibly cure your "prehypertension" too..
Avatar f tn I failed the one hour and passed 3 out of the four blood tests they took during the 3 hour. They called it glucose intolerance and made me go to nutritional counseling. I think a lot of people fail the one hour. Don't stress yet.
Avatar n tn Should I take Potassium gluconate or Potassium Choloride for diuretic induced hypokalemia. How much should I take. I have had leg cramps for the past 3 nights.
1448936 tn?1363206346 My doc ordered a few more tests for me and I'm just trying to figure out what the tests might be looking for. I know they're looking for a lactose and gluten intolerance but not sure about the rest. If anyone knows what some of these are and can shed some light on them thatd be great.
