Glucose intolerance barley

Common Questions and Answers about Glucose intolerance barley

glucose

Avatar m tn It helps, if you ingest some pure glucose (available as dextrose or glucodin, or glucose syrup) along with the food high in fructose. This won't help with foods high in sorbitol though. Glucose helps in absorption of fructose. And, crystalfresh, its important to remember that fructose, sorbitol and wheat can all irritate you. Some are tolerant to wheat others are not, so you have to find this out. Also: Fructose malabsorption is NOT an allergy.
Avatar f tn Glucose intolerance is when the body does not utilise the glucose in your body properly and the fasting blood glucose level is above 6.0 mmol/L or your blood glucose level is over 7.8 mmol/L 2 hours after consuming 75g of glucose. At this stage, with life style changes and exercises, you can still avoid getting diabetes. You could say it is pre diabetes. The symptoms of glucose intolerance can be those of hyperglycaemia and also tingling sensations.
Avatar m tn Usually after chronic pancreatitis patients develop insulin dependent diabetes mellitus and this should be ruled out by fasting blood glucose, post prandial blood glucose and glycosylated hemoglobin (a test which gives last 3 months control over blood glucose). Diabetes often causes rapid weight loss. Crohn’s disease is a difficult entity to diagnose and can cause weight loss. Along with gut symptoms skin disorders and arthritis too are commonly seen with Crohn’s.
Avatar n tn Hi , My name is Susan R, I started taking barley grass as a supplement Feb/March ' 08 as I grew weary of my intolerance to colds ,sore throats and UTI'S etc. I became hyperthryroid March of ' 08. I was referred to a twin City Endo and he recommended Rai . At which time I was opposed to it. I logged on to this forum and became scared of my fate should I proceed with Rai or continue on the No tx vs anti thyroid drugs.

783900 tn?1238020166 Gluten is a complex protein present in four main grains---wheat, rye, barley and oats. If you have gluten intolerance, then you probably have celiac disease or Non Celiac gluten sensitivity. There are blood tests called celiac test to detect gluten intolerance. You should consult a gastroenterologist (a specialist who looks after the diseases of our digestive system). Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar m tn You can have food intolerances without actually testing positive for an allergy. Your body will tell you by your symptoms. The way to figure this out is a food elimination/food challenge diet. The first thing to do is to keep a food diary. Don't just write down that you ate lasagna last night for dinner, write down what was in the lasagna to the best of your knowledge.
Avatar m tn What are your Free T3 and Free T4 levels? Please post them, with reference ranges, which vary from lab to lab and have to come from your own report. TSH does not cause or alleviate symptoms. It's the actual thyroid hormones that cause (or alleviate) symptoms, with Free T3 correlating best. Your A1c indicates that you have diabetes and that's what's causing your symptoms of frequent urination, weight loss, etc. Are you keeping track of your daily fasting blood sugars?
Avatar f tn I'm barley hitting the 1 hour mark for them to draw my blood :/ my sil said they made her do the 3 hour test the first time.
Avatar n tn Could this be a food intolerance issue? Are the foods you're having problems with in the same food group?
Avatar m tn My Tsh came back at .49 from 1.93 where I feel great! In 15 I never had an issue! I am due to get full panel thyroid tests in 3 weeks!
Avatar n tn Also, if someone has been diagnosed with wheat and/or gluten intolerance, should they take the fructose intolerance breath test just to be sure? Do all hospital labs offer the test? How can someone be tested if their doctor will not order the breath test? Thanks p.s. What type of doctor would order this test? Would it be an allergist or gastro physician?
Avatar m tn And are any of these causes of dizziness upon standing up linked to gluten intolerance or is there any relation between a eating intolerance and this dizziness possibly?
Avatar n tn bacterial overgrowth was negative, lactose intolerance was negative but fructose intolerance was positive. My control number was 11 and the end number was 44...I was told anything resulting in +20 (so mine would be 31) is positive. Okay, so here are my questions...what does the 44 mean (if anything) low intolerance, high intolerance?
709686 tn?1277432159 Sorry for the heading but I'm at my ropes end here. I have had several celiac panel testes done to see if I'm allergic to wheat, barley and oats...both have come back negative. When I tell my doctor of my symptoms she quickly dismisses them as seasonal allergies. My MAJOR symptom is anxiety.
Avatar m tn I would suggest that you make an appointment to see your doctor and ask if you can have a glucose intolerance test and do a HBA1C blood test. a HBA1C blood test will show the average glucose levels in the blood stream over a period of approximately 3 months. It may be that you have an insulin intolerance. This means that your pancreas is producing insulin, but this is not being used adequately by your body.
Avatar f tn Okay I barley failed the 1 hour test I think its bc of what I ate the day before . So I have to do the 3 hour one monday . Has anyone failed the 1 hour one and passed the 3 hour one ?
Avatar n tn Hi, As mentioned from the other post, flushing, nasal congestion or hives are usually observed with beer allergy or intolerance. This can be caused by alteration in the Aldehyde Dehydrogenase (ALDH) gene; food allergy such as beer components malted barley, hops and yeast; and allergy to alcohol itself. An allergy test may help identify the specific allergen that should be avoided. It is best that you check with your doctor for proper evalaution. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn After pushing some, I got a glucose tolerance test. At 1 hour I tested at 118. At 2 hours I was at 98. This is confusing. I tested again after a carby meal, was 161 at 2 hours. So curious, upon waking one day, I drank a 20oz coke with slightly less carbs given in a glucose test(I think 65). I checked, and sure enough, had similar normal readings like in the glucose tolerance test. My Dr.
Avatar m tn My husband and brother-in-law were like that. It turned out they had a gluten intolerance (gluten is in wheat, barley, rye and possibly oats).. Look up the gluten free diet on the computer and see if you'd like to give it a try. You have to stick with it 100%. They no longer have the "stinky" problem anymore. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn I have a glucose intolerance so all they did for me was fasting bloodwork... had me eat and took my blood again in two hours...
Avatar n tn Denzil, if you can rule out other causes, you may want to consider the possibility of something like a food intolerance problem. Many with celiac disease find that they experience dizziness, brain fog, rashes, etc after eating anything with wheat, rye or barley in it. Other complain of diarrhea and headaches, so you might want to consider a food issue.
Avatar f tn I failed the one hour and passed 3 out of the four blood tests they took during the 3 hour. They called it glucose intolerance and made me go to nutritional counseling. I think a lot of people fail the one hour. Don't stress yet.
