Avatar n tn Last monday a PICC line was inserted in my right arm for TPN. Due to vascular stenosis the PICC line was inserted only to my subclavian vein. The doctor told me to increase slowly the TPN infusion rate. At the hospital I received 2 full bags of PPN with no problem and no pain. At home I received a first bag of TPN with no pain.
Avatar f tn Your grandson is likely to be receiving Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN), which provides all the nutrients required for growth and development through IV fluids. TPN includes not only glucose, but also amino acids (for protein building), essential fats, vitamins, and minerals. As the intestinal tract is able to tolerate more feeding, the TPN will gradually be reduced.
Avatar n tn I was told that since my nutritional status is such, anything I do can make my heart rate get that high even using the bathroom but it is considered NORMAL for me. Is this true? My question is, SVTs can happen at any time and are strictly electrical. If i get heart rates that high, and are not SVT's, should i worry? I dont want to be afraid of exercise.
Avatar f tn I have a Medtronic Minimed Paradigm Insulin Pump for sale. I got it last year and only used it for about 6 months. I just upgraded to another one. It's in perfect condition, no knicks, scratches. I have the original box with all the papers/instructions. The pump will come with: 1. One never opened box of 10 reservoirs - 1.8ml 2. One never opened box of 10 quick set infusion - 23 inches 3. One belt clip 3. One insertion device 4.
1251333 tn?1445218215 Thanks for letting us know how it went. Be sure and keep your team in the loop if that doesn't go away. (Had to laugh at the full throttle comment. I've had a particular nurse take that approach to an IVSM infusion!
18811274 tn?1468284191 I have had Crohn's Disease since I was around 14. I am 61. Seven bowel surgeries, IBS, chronic pancreatitis describes my life in a nut shell. I am in constant pain. A colonoscopy last month show the crohn's is again active again and my stomach is not emptying properly thus the Idiopathic Gastroparesis diagnosis. I have read everything and anything I can get my hands on about this and my question is this. It appears that very little can be done for this condition.
645800 tn?1466860955 ) Once I got through there I checked back with the nurses were I got the infusion therapy to see if I was going to get an RX for my glucose. I was told NO, they were checking with my PCP to see if I needed anything and if I did I would get a call from them. DUH! I've already had one cardiac event due to glucose levels and have consistent reading from 366 to 151 since I started the infusions.
Avatar f tn Also my doc ended putting me on a picc line with tpn-home infusion so that I would not.get dehydrated. It sucked having to stay home for such a long time with it but it helped me to stay hydrated.
Avatar n tn Long term TPN does cause liver problems. My son was on it for 2 years and suffered liver failure. So, it all depends how how long he was on it. You may want to get some bloodwork done to determine if there was any damage to his liver. I hope he is doing well now. Take care....
Avatar n tn The next few numbers are from your ECG and they are all normal except of course for the ventricular and atrial rate of 118, meaning you most likley had sinus tachycardia at the time of the test. Chest xray seems normal.
Avatar m tn Zoe - I think Windchimes meant humulin insulin not huminsulin. Humulin is considered an intermediate acting insulin as its duration is 24 hours, but this can vary per individual. LANTUS, on the other hand, is considered long lasting as its duration is up to 36 hours. Windchimes - You kept your Humulin dose a secret so one can only assume you're at max and why your doctor is considering moving to the pump. Avatar f tn I began to have pain and was hospitalized for two weeks for pain management. The pain started in my upper left abdomen. In the beginning it was worse when I would lay down, than it became chronic. From that I began to have sharp stabbing pain attacks that would last for 5 minutes and be followed by a vomiting of bile episode. While in the hospital my Gastroenterologist preformed at ERCP and opened up my common bile duct. The pain attacks have stopped.
1353681 tn?1387083733 Been having pulsating feelings under skin/tingling and wondering it could be? It is at the infusion site under the skin and I'm not sure if this interrupts or changes insulin delivery? Any tips welcome, thanks.
Avatar f tn Alannah is now on TPN as well as breast feeds and she has a stoma. She is due for another surgery in 3 weeks to see if they can find any more small bowel that will work. Has anyone had any experience with this amount of small bowel??
9109315 tn?1408617920 Thank you so much for sharing. I was starting to wonder how could I have all normal levels and passing out. Once I have the baby I know everything will go back to normal.
Avatar f tn I have been living with short gut syndrome since March of 2008. I had to have TPN for about two months. It leaked from my port and infultrated my breast which left me with burns.I finally insisted that we try something else. I only have 3 feet of bowel remaining. I watch my weight and diet and visit my Drs often. I've read up on this and consider myself very lucky. Iwill keep everyone in my prayers.
Avatar n tn I have undergone constant blood glucose monitoring for a week which included fasting and eating the same meals all week. The endocrinologist was sure that the adjustments to my basal and bolus rates would even out my blood glucose. However my BG is still erratic and seems to follow no consistent patterns. I often drop to the 40's or rise to 200-400 almost every day. My Ha1c reading last time was 6.5.
Avatar n tn After she got admitted in hospital she stated getting breathing problems. They were giving giving her loads of medication that included antibiotic as well as (tpn).... dr also confined that she also developed fungal infection.. I was will her the night this happened. Me and the nurse was communicating that my mother breather was getting better and nurse insist that she will be off oxygen in the morning . I was very happy to think she was comming of oxygen soon.
Avatar f tn I've been anemic since I was a young child. I took and am taking an OTC iron pill. Knowing that I was anemic before I was pregnant I knew I would need to take a suppliment. I'm 36 weeks now and I still have trouble keeping my iron up. I had a friend with her first child was severely anemic and had to have blood infusion. Her daughter is almost 2 now and she is fine. With her second they thought they'd have to do the same things after her 28 week testing.
