glucose

Avatar m tn What has often been said is to cut down or reduce your carbohydrate intake in order to reduce/lower your glucose levels. I have written in your previous postings that you need to use Google or Yahoo to search on complex vs simple carbs. Please include a search on the Glycemic Index reference food groups. Educate yourself about the foods available to you, what you put into your body and how these foods will affect your life. All carbohydrates are broken down to glucose to produce the energy.
Avatar n tn I have read that after meals, glucose levels can go up to about 146 before a person is considered in the diabetic range. So your glucose readings thus far sound like they would be considered in the normal range of values except for the on at 61. As a diabetic, I know that I can actually start to feel bad when glucose is in the lower 70's even though 70 is considered the lowest level of normal.
Avatar n tn Consume more complex carbohydrates, such as brown rice, brown pasta and whole wheat bread, one to two weeks before you begin your training program. Complex carbs contain energy in the form of glucose, which will provide your muscles with the necessary fuel before you begin training. Complex carbs contain essential nutrients and minerals that will help your body develop after working out. A slice of wheat bread, or one half cup of white or brown rice, is a serving of complex carbs.
Avatar m tn You should be staying away from sugar, white bread, potatoes and etc. Your diet should be high in fibre and breads should be whole wheat. I am diabetic and have cut out so much carbohydrates that many times I am hypoglycemic. Good luck.
Avatar m tn will not be absorbed properly and will cause symptoms. (Glucose aids in the absorption of Fructose so if the ratio of glucose is higher then the food is ok.) Trouble is IBS symptoms are not only triggered by Fructose but various other things such as Fructans in wheat or foods that when eaten are converted to Fructans. Other problematic foods: onion, leek asparagus, most beans, lentils etc. Have you heard of FODMAPS? (Fermentable Oligo-Di- and Mono-saccharides and Polyols.
Avatar f tn Besides the yellowish skin and eyes, I also experience gas, bloating/ stomach distention, sometimes slight pain under right rib cage and food intolerances to wheat, gluten and glucose/sugars. Here is what my lab results have been so far - COMPLETE METBOLIC PANEL Normal B12 levels Normal Folate and Iron levels Low Vitamin D levels @ 18.

Avatar f tn I find berries to be low in sugar plus whole wheat bread is low in carbs. Smuckers makes a sugar free berry jam and makes a good snack with toasted wheat bread.
Avatar f tn 30 am, i just ate 2 loaves of wheat bread. Is it the reason why my reading was normal and therefore not a good sign if i really am diabetic or not?
Avatar m tn What I was hoping to learn was how blood glucose levels typically varied in the first 90-120 minutes after eating in a healthy person so that I could compare this to myself. Here is how I hoped to use the information. I love certain foods, especially pasta. I wanted to see how my BG would go up after a pasta meal so I took my BG every 15 min. It rose ot 8.9 within 30 min after eating and dropped naturally to 8.3 after 75 min.
767435 tn?1235759815 you see what happens when the human system absorbs and digest food, i.e. glucose or sugar is absorbed and carried to many parts of the body. Now when this happens a region in the brain, the hypothalomus, responds by making us either feeling fatigued or highly energetic, meaning either way we are utilizing our glucose efficiently. Now, If after you eat you feel the same then that is cause for concern as you may have a glycaemic problem or probably diabetes. you are healthy so don't worry.
Avatar n tn Occurence of pharmacologically active benzodiazepines in trace amounts in wheat and potato - Germany/Switzerland 1988 It is said that the potato is the stomach's best friend - it is a natural antacid since it neutralises excessive acids. But we humans often destroy the good potato - we use oils, spices or combine it with foods that have negative effects on us. Perhaps it is about the carbohydrates and not the sugar. I'm aware that I only answered to the potato-problem.

973741 tn?1342342773 So I did some searching and found that the wheat plant itself has been hybridized to make it easier to harvest but the big offender according to what I read, was that almost all the wheat grown in the US is GMO modified wheat. We are eating food that is causing disease. I'm sorry but some plant made to resist the constant spraying of a strong pesticide such as roundup just cannot be good for us to be eating. My guess is that is the culprit and not carbs, per se.
Avatar f tn Your doctor will have a preferred routine for you to follow. My midwife wants me to eat something three hours before the test. Threat nothing for two hours and then im supposed to eat my jelly beans an hour before the test.
Avatar m tn I was wondering should I take magnesium cit-rate to help with keeping blood glucose in balance. I took it yesterday 1 pill 200mg and did not notice any difference. I want to is magnesium sterate in many pharmacy pills and supplements safe. From what I read many say its safe.
Avatar n tn 45 minutes after ingestion seems to be plenty of time for the medicine to start lowering his glucose levels. His non-fasting glucose seems very normal. I would guess that his reaction was indeed just that: a reaction to the glipizide. But his dad could certainly occasionally do a random glucose test on the little guy if he thinks his son is showing any symptoms of either hypoglycemia or diabetes.
Avatar m tn ya i ate the usual heavy lunch really rich in carb(wheat flour bread.,fried potatoes refined oil to name a few )....and the testing was not done at home but went to a lab where my blood and urine checked for sugar.....blood 104 and urine -NIL result.

Avatar m tn Vegetables that are non-starchy, such as carrots, lettuce, spinach, squash etc are very good. Keep fruits in the diet but watch for rises in blood sugars. Drink lots of water if other medical issues allow(if your mother has heart issues she may not be able to drink lots of water).I strongly suggest meeting with a diabetes educator or dietician to review your mom's food choices and do some meal planning. It is much more comprehensive than I can offer in this post. All the best.
Avatar n tn Wheat allergies and dairy allergies are both pretty common (wheat allergy is different from celiac -- one is an inability to break down wheat products eaten, while the other is an autoimmune response when allergic foods are eaten). I have a brother-in-law who not only has wheat allergies, but also anything with yeast will cause an allergic reaction. Are dairy or wheat products a big part of her diet?
Avatar n tn over the years i also suffered digestive problems and rapid heart rate but no hypertention and intolerance to vitamins and glucose. wheat often out of control and insomnia. any ideas for these symptoms would be appreciated also suffer anemia in last 10 yrs.
Boy I found that I can eat protein (including steak) without much rise in my blood glucose. Whenever I have regular bread/potatoes/rice or pasta it raises my BG depending on how much I eat. I do monitor my carbs and since doing so have lowed my A1c from 7.3 to 6.2 without medications.
