Glucose in vitreous humor

Common Questions and Answers about Glucose in vitreous humor

Avatar n tn The reason the doctors are unable to see your floaters that are very apparent to you is because they are likely extremely close to your retina. When there isn't much room between the vitreous change and the back wall of the eye structure it is much more difficult to distinguish the "floater(s)" with any tool currently available. Floaters that are further from the back of the eye can be seen , as any eye doctor who regularly examines eyes can tell you.
Avatar n tn NOW I WEAR GAS PERMEABLE CONTACTS AND GLASSES OVER THEM TO DRIVE. MY LEFT EYE IS 20/70 THE RIGHT BETTER. I HAVE A DETACHED VITREOUS HUMOR AND AM SCHEDULED TO HAVE ULTRASOUND CATARACT SURGERY IN TWO WEEKS ON THE LEFT EYE AND THEN TWO WEEKS LATER THE RIGHT. I AM HAVING SECOND THOUGHTS BECAUSE I AM A ARTIST, PHOTOGRAPHER, ART TEACHER AND DEPEND ON THE EYES BUT I AM ALSO HAVING TROUBLE SEEING TO GET TO WORK ESP IN LOW LIGHT CONDITIONS.
Avatar f tn Floaters in the eye can be a sign of retinal detachment, shrinkage of the vitreous humor (gel like substance in the eye), ophthalmic migraine, macular edema, debris in tear film, allergies, a blow or fall on the head or due to some inflammation. Floaters can also be chronic eye static due to the electrical activity inside our eye. This produces an image of the vitreous and retina, sometimes white spots against black or vice versa and sometimes red hues too. This is normal.
Avatar m tn The saline is eventually reabsorbed and the vitreous cavity is filled with with a mixture of vitreous gel, liquid vitreous and acqeous humor. Under the ILM is the nerve fiber layer and it must be protected. Hopefully the surface will not have more tissue grow over it because that can cause another ERM, macular pucker and macular hole.
Avatar m tn The vitreous is not replaced. I assume you do not have a retinal detachment or a rupture of the globe. The eye's IOP is maintained by the production of aqueous humor by the ciliary body and out flow through the trabecular meshwork. IOP can be low by decreased production by the ciliary body and a possibility in your case may be a ciliary body detachment. Or increased outflow due to a cylcodialysis clef. Dr. O.
Avatar n tn s have to leave the oil in the eye is because the shape of the cornea is partly determined by the pressure of the vitrous and aqueous humor (fluid) in the eye that is naturally there. I heard that vitreous humor does not regrow (the fluid) so that the oil substance is there to help replace the humors and maintain the shape of the eyeball.
1061306 tn?1254664568 I have to laugh at myself... and am very open with others in regards to my mental issues. Don't hide it well anyway, poker face has never been a talent of mine. Laughing is the best medicine. (if you can muster it up). I don't get too defensive when others poke fun... more so when they don't take it seriously. THAT is frustrating and does make it difficult to fnd humor in my situation. I always say, "self-deprecating humor is only funny when I use it".
Avatar f tn I was told to wait for one week and come back and would probably have to have another vitrectomy. My eye pressure is very high and was told it was due to the blood in the vitreous. Does vitreous hemorrhage increase the risk of retinal detachment? Also the retina specialist says he cannot see in the eye any better than I can see out, so we do not know if optic nerve has been damaged. Since pressure is incresing is it likely to do damage to optic nerve that we can't see?
Avatar n tn Brightly lit area helps tremendously. Doctor says I have some blurring in the Vitreous humor that is not letting as much light in. This was not a problem before the surgery. Does this usually clear up on its own? Could this be the capsule causining the blur? Doc says come back in 6 months.
Avatar m tn (Only light and dark) They checked out my eye that same morning and determined that my retina was fine, but that a vessel had hemorrhaged into the vitreous humor causing my lose of sight. They told me to go home and come back in 5 days. What I need to know is what can be done to regain my vision and I should be doing to help this situation? Also, if this is common problem with vitrectomy?
Avatar m tn This describes my situation exactly. I had a scleral buckle attached and vitrectomy with the vitreous humor replaced by a gas bubble. Is it common to have blurred vision after surgery for a detached retina? Can I expect it to clear up? What are the chances it might be permanent (as in a comment by another member)?
Avatar f tn I forgot to mention that she doesn´t have retinopathy of prematuring. Although the doctor said she has a very thin retina and that her vitreous humor is liquid.
Avatar m tn The first possibility is of posterior vitreous detachment. It is a condition of the eye in which the vitreous humor separates from the retina. The important symptoms are floaters in front of eyes and flashes in front of eyes. First and foremost, regular estimation of blood sugar is important as hypoglycemia can lead to dizziness. Also get your blood pressure monitored as orthostatic hypotension due to sudden decrease in systolic BP can also cause dizziness.
Avatar m tn vitreous degeneration (more accurately vitreous liquification (syneresis)) and PVD are normal. Retinal tears are common but not "normal". Holes without vitreous traction carry low risk of retinal detachment.
Avatar n tn Obviously the eye is full of fluid, aqueous and vitreous humor and if this has built up too much pressure the eye can slightly swell causing great discomfort.
Avatar m tn s pretty much non existent in the daylight, so it sounds like a low light issue (similar to how a video camera has grainy images when in shot low light). If the vitreous is constantly tugging on and stimulating the retina, I suppose the grainy vision problem can occur when there's no/low light hitting the retina???
Avatar n tn THis likely has nothing whatsoever with dry eyes. These are most likely floaters in the vitreous and since they are new you should see an ophthalmologist for a complete dilated exam to look for things like a vitreous detachement or vitreous hemorrhage or retinal detachment.
Avatar n tn i am 22 and have just found out i need surgery for retinal detachment in my right eye i had a lazy eye as a child and wore an eye patch why has it only just been noticed it has been thought it has always been there as i was 10 weeks premature when i was born and havent shown any symptoms of having a detached retina.
Avatar f tn Doctor please tell me why I am getting this flashes? does vitreous detachment cause flashes by just staring at something in dark?
Avatar m tn Hello, I have had some body wide issues lately (3-4 months) but recently I've been experiencing what I though at first were floaters, but turns out is vitreous syneresis (from my most recent opthamologist visit). I was recommended to a retina specilist who said he notices a slight contraction in my vitreous and changing in it's consistency.
Avatar f tn The surface of the retina can also wrinkle or pucker because the gel is not there up against it to keep it smooth.
Avatar f tn According to me, Eye floaters can be clumpy or stringy, light or black. They are due to sections or specks of undissolved vitreous gel content sailing in the demolished gel-like liquid (vitreous) in the rear of your right eye, which throw black areas on the retina when mild goes into your right eye. That's why you suffering this kind of problem so you should go for an eye care specialist which suggest you or solve your problem.
344352 tn?1605238012 whats up with these floaters (post RD 2 years) that are in the central vision that look like worms? ....these floaters move with my eye like the other ones as well...bot they just started to change form about 1 month ago. went to the retina specialist 2X in the past month out of concern and he said the retina was fine and that he sees the clumps of vitreous gel floating....everything looked normal...will they ever change again where its not clouding up the vision?
Avatar m tn By age 20 about 1 in 5 people have one more floaters and at least some of the vitreous is a liquid not formed gel. Worry about your other problems the floaters and your eyes are not a problem. I experienced my first floater about age 8 and its possible to be born with floaters.
Avatar m tn Thanks for the info from someone that knows. Words can't express how I feel about my surgeon for doing this for me. I was in shock when I heard. Just wanted to know if the 15,000 fee seems ti natch up with what the room will be used for. Mistakes do happen and I have no way to verify it that I know of unless there is a way via the Internet. Thanks!
