Glucose in urine not diabetes

Common Questions and Answers about Glucose in urine not diabetes

glucose

Avatar f tn I have gestational diabetes and they do check with every urine test to see if you have glucose in your urine. It helps them determine if your body is having issues producing and using insulin. I will tell you glucose will show up in your urine the more sugar you eat so if you are eating a lot of Ben and jerry's that's probably what is doing it. If i go off my diet and eat a few cookies they see the glucose in my urine.
Avatar f tn Ive had this twice at my appointments staight after each other my blood work came back fine glucose tt then went for my next midwife appointment and sugur was in urine again so had to have another glucose tt and a diabetes fasting test and yet again nothing im now 33 weeks pregnant and all going well im on antibiotics for some kind of infection but thats normal sometimes you will have sugar in your urine if your bloods come back ok try to cut down on your sugar intakes this helped me :-)
Avatar n tn today on testing my urine about 30 mins after 250ml of coke and 3 sweet biscuits there was NO glucose in the urine. Can anyone explain why the first test was positive?
Avatar m tn I fainted just the other day an have been throwing up so i went to the doctor an im not pregnant but he told me i have keytones in my urine an asked if diabetes run in the family i was just wondering what keytones are?
Avatar f tn If he keeps urine dipsticks around the house for his diabetes, he should try dipping his urine when it burns to see if he has glucose or ketones in his urine too when it occurs.
Avatar n tn Urine test reveals, more often than not, the presence of diabetes. That was certainly the case with me. However, in early stages or in the pre-diabetes stage your kidneys may not be 'spilling out" the excess glucose from your blood and one may get a false sense security. This situation can last for a number of years with consequent damage to your organs by the high blood glucose.
Avatar n tn A urine test is not as accurate as a blood test, but it does show for sure if sugar is spilling over into the urine because there is not enough insulin working. So it will without doubt show if the child is extremely out of good glucose control. But if things are borderline, I don't know if you will see a positive test. A glucose test from blood is much more accurate.
Avatar n tn High blood sugar can be controlled with diabetes medications and pneumonia can be treated with antibiotics. The presence of ketones in the bloodstream is a common complication of diabetes. A urine test for ketones is more commonly done than the blood test. If there are 2 positive signs (++), this indicates the level of ketones present in her urine, which is normally negative. It is important that this is treated also to prevent ketoacidosis.
Avatar f tn I have sugar in my urine most check ups, I've had two 3 hour diabetes tests because my dad and aunties are type 1 diabetics but I passed both :) hope it's the same for you
Avatar m tn She said there were traces of glucose and white blood cells in my urine. She has asked me to go in for a blood test and I think a Prostate psa test. I'm worried it could be something serious?
Avatar n tn I think it is probably different all the time, just not as bad in the morning when I take the fasting tests. please help?
Avatar n tn I am a type 2 diabetic and recently lost my job and my health insurance, I have not been able to afford to get my medicines and my blood glucose levels have been horrible, I ran out of glucose strips about a month and a half ago and they were running in the high 300's and even into the 400's. Here lately I have been going to the bathroom ALOT and I'm sure my keytones are very high, because I have lost about 30 lbs. in the last 2 months.
Avatar m tn Had you fasted 8-10 hrs prior to the test? "Anyway I checked my BGluose with meter yesturday, it was after eating....my reading was 7.4" Testing after eating is called postprandial. Postprandial test times is 2-3 hrs after a meal. Before this time does not provide a good insight as your blood sugar is still on the rise. Are you in the UK? If yes, the 7.4 mmol/l indicates 133.20 mg/dl, an acceptable postprandial levels IF you are diabetic. If not, it is high. Normal is between 3.
Avatar n tn Ketones and proteins in the urine can result from many factors, like excessive exercise, dehydration, high protein diet, kidney problems, and diabetes. Diabetes in the initial stages does not produce glucose in urine. However neither will it bring about ketones and proteins in the urine at an early stage. These are generally the signs of uncontrolled diabetes. You need to check the blood sugar fasting (8-12 hours) and two hours after a proper meal.
Avatar f tn Today I went to the doctor because I have been itching like crazy, but my doctor is straight up with me and he told me that I have protein and glucose in my urine. I have had two uti’s in the past 2 months, I have been itching like crazy, I have been very tired, and my blood pressure is higher for a person of my size. I am 16, 5’7 and I weigh 130 lbs.
Avatar f tn So went to the doctors and had my pee checked like usual visits. This time the results came back that I have 250 glucose in urine... I called the doctor as I was concerned and she said she's not very concerned about it. Can't stop thinking about it and wondering if anyone knows if it's really no big deal or if it can be serious? Havent been able to get this off my mind!
Avatar m tn one of the symptoms of diabetes is frequent urination and i agree with your doctor that you rule this out from the picture through testing glucose levels in your blood or urine. Like i said, the urine glucose is not used as before because it's sensitivity is not that good and many factors affect the result such as the medications i mentioned before. Your blood sugar tested 80 and it is below the 200 cut off so it's normal.
Avatar n tn If your urine tested high for glucose you should have your screening early. Diabetes in pregnancy is a risk for the baby. Insulin resistance increases rapidly as the pregnancy progresses. While the A1c of 5.2 is quite reasonable, it measures the last 3 months and it could be that your sugars have recently increased. In the meantime limit your carbs (particularly sweets, white bread, fruit and fruit juice, soda) and try to walk 30 minutes twice a day, if possible.
Avatar n tn Normally there is very little or no glucose in urine. When the blood sugar level is very high, as in uncontrolled diabetes, the sugar spills over into the urine. Glucose can also be found in urine when the kidneys are damaged or diseased.
Avatar f tn I just left my doctors appointment and they said I have a lot of suger in my urine. I passed my three hour glucose test. Could I possibly be getting gestational diabetes now?
Avatar f tn she called me tonight to say that the result did not come out good... she said that there was a high amount of sugar in my urine.. i am a bit worried as i did not have this problem with my first pregnancy... does anyone know what this means???
Avatar n tn She had no glucose in the urine. I called the doc and he said not to be concerned unless she also had glucose in her urine. He does want to see her Monday for testing. But I am also trying to research this to give myself a little peace of mind until then. BTW, I have test strips here at home that my doc gave me to test for infection. I was testing myself and my girls (2.5 year old twins) thought it would be fun to test too. LOL!
