Though the report is just a qualitative analysis ( which means it doesn’t tell us the exact amount of protein in the urine), 2 + protein in the urine is certainly high. You need to be investigated further with urine micralbumin and 24 hrs urine albumin (quantitative analysis). Both tests can be done in the laboratory.
These tests would give us a clear idea about the quantity of protein in the urine.
The doctor said I had glucose in my urine. She is going to retest me again in 2 weeks. I went in 2 weeks ago for the sugar test and passed with a 131 cutoff is 135. So my question is has this happened to anyone else? Does this mean I am going to develop gestational diabetes?? Ive had this twice at my appointments staight after each other my blood work came back fine glucose tt then went for my next midwife appointment and sugur was in urine again so had to have another glucose tt and a diabetes fasting test and yet again nothing im now 33 weeks pregnant and all going well im on antibiotics for some kind of infection but thats normal sometimes you will have sugar in your urine if your bloods come back ok try to cut down on your sugar intakes this helped me :-)
I had the same problem. In the one hr glucose test I was high. In the 4 hr glucose test I was high. They checked my A1C and found I was high form the last three months. I didn't want to be high. I ate healthier and definitely watch my sugar. the urine collection test was done. My proteins were great. My kidneys functional. So then they had me do finger sticks for a week. My finger stick showed slight elevation in the mornings. Reading up on it..
t see the blood in my urine anymore but after 15 days i did another urine analysis and there was microscopic blood in my urine. Everytime i drink alcohol i see blood clot in my blood too, so I stopped drinking alcohol completely. To test if it was tanbaco that really irritated my bladder, i used some tanbaco after 3 weeks and the night after that there it was again I saw the blood again in my urine. After that It's been around 3 weeks that i avoided anything that could irritate my bladder.
My Dr also told me he has no concerns of me being diabetic since no glucose showed up in my urine samples. Both the dip stick as well as the lab samples.
Like I said, i was at the Dr around 1:30pm, and I hadnt eatin since dinner the night before. He mentioned that could have caused the ketones on the dipstick test. Could this, as well as the stress I was under, cause the trace amounts of protein?
As other causes such as stress ,exercises and a recent meal intake may cause increase levels of glucose in the urine. This may be true in isolated cases.
An initial work up may be necessary just to check blood glucose levels. Your BUN and Creatinine levels may also be checked to get a baseline evaluation of renal function.
Hello there, I have recently been to the doctor, she said that I have very high keytones in my urine and a presence of glucose as well. In April I have been in hospital because I had a bladder/ kidney and gall- bladder infection.
I still have high keytone levels and the doctors are researching where this is coming from. Could it be that there is still an infection which is why the keytones are high? have keytones got anything to do with the liver or gall-bladder?

These sticks are a good indicator, but they will only detect glucose in the urine if there is above a certain level (fairly high) of glucose in the urine. An HbA1c blood test shows average blood glucose levels over a sustained period (about a 3 month period). Rather than a normal blood test that would only show the sugar levels at the time you gave your blood for testing.
