glucose

Avatar f tn regarding plants: I did not have anything specific in mind when I said that. I meant it in a more generic way. Some plants can help the liver: ayurveda uses some of these. Some plants can severely damage the liver, and easily kill someone, whether they has liver disease or not. If the topic fascinates you (it fascinates me) you can start with this: http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar m tn You may be experincing hypoglycemia. If you take insulin you may be taking too much for the amount of food you are eating. As insulin helps the glucose get to the cells and tissue. If you are not taking insulin your body may be releasing a large amount of insulin in response to a meal high in carbohydrates. You need to find a balance as hypoglycemia can cause you to serious problems. I would talk to your dr.
Avatar n tn i had no memory of what was going on and asked where i was, assuming i had fainted in a field or something. she gave me a glucose tablet and i felt better, so (being a medic myself) i asked what my hands a face were doing, and she said they were both scrunched up and i had been breathing shallowly and in gasps. Tom took my pulse and it was elevated. I've never had a seizure, and am very worried. obviously i'm going to see my doc tomorrow, but i'd just like to know what to expect.
Avatar m tn How are you? Palpitations can be cardiac or non-cardiac in origin. Non-cardiac may mean you have metabolic causes such as hyperthyroidism or hypoglycemia; drug-induced causes, structural abnormalities or even psychiatric or stress. For us to understand this, we must identify the underlying cause. Blood tests for glucose, electrolytes and thyroid function tests can be done to rule out other diseases.. An ECG may also be useful in evaluating cardiac problems. Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar n tn org/wiki/Cortisol As you will see Cortisol is associated with an increase in glucose, not decrease. You should ask for a solid explanation as to why your doctor wants this tested and for what reason. And why he/she doesn't suspect hypoglycemia as the cause of your problem. Are you sure about the 32 mg/dl reading? That would make one unconscious or close to a coma. Inquire about your pancreas being tested and also for an insulin resistance test. An A1c test will verify your glucose levels.
Avatar m tn Today I ate a breakfast burrito and had orange juice. My blood glucose was 92 thirty minutes after eating. Sometimes it will fall in the 60 range. My fasting blood glucose level was around 80. It seems like my body overcompensates when I consume sugar. Do you think I have reactive hypoglycemia?
1563533 tn?1345366296 That's an excellent idea, allmymarbles! Mimi, i have the same trouble with one of my young (7 mo old) cats. Catnip is a great diversion. Also I do now try to keep my plants up and away from his reach or the bigger plants in a room where he can't get to them. After a month or two I will re-introduce the plants, one at a time and hope the behavior has been re-directed... I think they do get better around plants as they get older.

Avatar m tn Wiki is a good starting place to learn. I found that the information from Wiki needs to be confirmed in a couple of other sources to be sure the info is reliable. The National Institute of Health has a wealth of information.
365714 tn?1292199108 Thanks. It's just when I'm talking about washing pots on the keyboard, I'm not DOING the washing, lol. When I'm on here I can't be somewhere else and when I'm somewhere else I can't be here. Okay I can have over 50 tabs open per window (opera) and have about 5 windows open,. It looks like I'm in 100 places at a time, and maybe logged in "online" in about 5 of those, but I _Still_ can only look at one site at any given time.

Avatar n tn Then levels go back to normal range without any apparent change in diet or exercise. Whenever the doc orders fasting tests i am in the normal range. I have done the glucose tolerance test twice, the first test made me crash too low after 2-3 hours "63". The second time was normal . Original diagnosis of pre diabetes was made because I had several episodes of getting too low after running . The recent high glcose readings i had were the first I have ever had that were too high.

Avatar f tn The detection of p24 antigen by ELISA is a simple cost-effective technique to demonstrate viral capsid (core) p24 protein in blood during acute infection due to the initial burst of virus replication after infection. In order to maximize the detection of all infected individuals, including those in early infection, antibody, antigen, and viral RNA tests should be used. However, viral RNA tests are expensive, time consuming, and unavailable in many laboratories.
Avatar f tn Two Nuclear Power Plants in the plan for the future. To help us create jobs, go green etc, etc. The last power plant constructed was 30 years ago. So, is this a good idea? bad Idea? What say you?
Avatar n tn Saw palmetto reduces the DHT in the blood in a different way than Finasteride which could cause reduced libido. Avatar f tn Zantedeschia is a genus of herbaceous flowering plants in the family Araceae, native to southern Africa from South Africa north to Malawi. The name of the genus was given as a tribute to Italian botanist Giovanni Zantedeschi (1773–1846) by the German botanist Kurt Sprengel (1766–1833). Common names include Arum lily for Z. aethiopica, calla, and calla lily for Z. elliottiana and Z. rehmannii although it is neither a true lily (Liliaceae), nor Arum or Calla (related genera in Araceae).
