Avatar f tn I went to my doc and she gave me Cipro for about 7 days redid uti test and my blood pressure was 107/70 and the glucose from the previous test showed glucose levels were in the "normal' range. Ok let me just say I'm a bit freaked out. My biology teacher told us a story of how he was hiking the grand canyon and fell off is horse and had bloody urine (knowing he had damaged himself ), and knew he needed medical help. Here I am no injury and I'm have red bloody urine.

Avatar m tn This statement may give the impression that fructose can cause blood sugar (blood glucose) to rise. Is that correct ? The biology that I learned said that in humans, the metabolic pathway /breakdown of fructose does not go via glucose formation. Having said that, fructose in excess is still bad because most of it is converted into fat by the body ! Otherwise, I think you offer very good advice. I would also add carbohydrate and calorie counting for better management of diabetes.

Avatar n tn today on testing my urine about 30 mins after 250ml of coke and 3 sweet biscuits there was NO glucose in the urine. Can anyone explain why the first test was positive?
Avatar f tn The doctor said I had glucose in my urine. She is going to retest me again in 2 weeks. I went in 2 weeks ago for the sugar test and passed with a 131 cutoff is 135. So my question is has this happened to anyone else? Does this mean I am going to develop gestational diabetes?? I am not over weight but I do have a bad ice cream habit...been known to eat a pint of ben and jerrys a nite!!! Any input would be appericated..thanxs!!
Avatar n tn It can take some time for you to feel OK as your body adjusts to new glucose levels as being normal again. So if you test and find that your glucose numbers are in the ideal range (70-126) before meals but still feel crummy, you may just have to wait for your body to adjust to being normal again.
Avatar n tn As other causes such as stress ,exercises and a recent meal intake may cause increase levels of glucose in the urine. This may be true in isolated cases. An initial work up may be necessary just to check blood glucose levels. Your BUN and Creatinine levels may also be checked to get a baseline evaluation of renal function.
Avatar f tn I'm 16 weeks pregnant and I'm at my appt, I was just told that glucose was found in my urine! What does it mean?? Could it be because this morning I had cereal for breakfast?? Im scared to have gd!

Avatar n tn They starting gettin more sever ( extream dry moth, mental foginess, shaking, vomiting) so I went to the Dr. They tested my fasting glucose levels in the office (finger *****) and it was 227. I was immedicately sent to a lab for blood work. My gloucose level came back at 80. That was w/in half an hour. A week later I returned to the Dr. office they said I was "normal". I insisted on another test. They did another in office test (fasting again) and I came back at 180.
Avatar f tn I was real good in biology class. (97% on my bio regent) but I forgot these details.... anybody????

Avatar n tn He told her to contact her doctor immediately in regards to high blood glucose. This was on Monday. She had an appointment with her primary care physician on Tuesday anyways for an unrelated issue. She said she told her primary care physician about the blood work, but her doctor didn't take it seriously or did not believe her. This is where my sister intervened. She received a call from the nephrologist's office nurse with her concerns about the blood glucose.
Avatar m tn In simple terms, what happens is that undigested lactose passes into the large intestine where, in several different ways, it is broken down into glucose, which then is passed out of the body in the stool. So a finding of high glucose in stool is not surprising in someone who is lactose intolerant.
Avatar m tn One of the strangest things I learnt earlier in chemistry and biology is that many of the organic molecular structures are just modifications of existing compounds that we already know from elementary science in high school. For instance, I remember learning for the first time that ATP/ADP and nucleotides were just a fructose (monosaccharide) backbone molecule with a bunch of attached phosphates and nitrogenous bases, with that slight modification alone altered its complete molecular function.
Avatar n tn glucose tabs are good for the short term but the effect will run out, so take something else(like half a sandwich) as well as the tabs. Try a different site and pinch a decent roll of skin, pull it out from your body. This may help avoid any veins. Take care.
Avatar n tn I took my daughter in for a physical last week and the dr. told me her glucose level in her urine was 3+ and blood stick was 288. He was VERY concerned and told me to take her in to her dr. the next morning. Her regular dr. told her fasting glucose was 0 and blood stick was 127. She told me the dr.'s machines were wrong the night before (it was an Urgent Care Center) and she's fine ... asked me to bring her back in a year.
Avatar f tn Any other ladies have or had this.. first time in four pregnancies. Doc didn't make a big deal just curious about it... I have normal blood pressure and had the glucose test done today. Any insight is helpful....
Avatar n tn Hello! I'm not a medical professional, just the parent of a kid with diabetes. The normal blood glucose ranges for anyone, child or not are between 80 and 120. Some doctors will say 70-110, but it's all in the same range. Now, that's the target, but depending on what is eaten for example, a healthy person's blood glucose can rise temporarily up close to 200. As long as the values return to normal after a couple hours, all is well.
Avatar m tn If an HIV+ blood sample was sitiing around for days would the P24 core protein still be detectable in tests, assuming insufficient antibodies binding to the proteins?
