Avatar m tn com/technology-vagus-nerve-stimulation/ ) demonstrated headphones at CES 2016 that can stimulate Vagus and thus increase dopamine, serotonin and oxytocin. It certainly looks interesting on the paper, but I am a bit skeptical about the negative effects which this stimulation could bring. Let's say that they actually work - how can they stimulate only vagus and not the rest of the nerves which could have unknown effects?
Tbd Postprandial hyperglycemia is also one of the earliest abnormalities of glucose homeostasis associated with type 2 diabetes" https://care.diabetesjournals.org/content/24/4/775 So test 1-2 hours after a meal. As a pure guess, I'd think that once a month is sufficient - unless you change your diet or activity or other risk factors.
Avatar f tn I want to check my cat for glucose, there are home-tests available, but I don't know if urine test gives the same result as blood test. Has anyone used Glucotest or PawCheck? Both are home tests. Appreciate any feedback.
Avatar f tn The various tests carried out to detect the cause of loss of smell is CT scan of nasal sinuses, MRI of brain, allergy testing, and blood glucose levels. This is followed by quantitative smell test which helps identifies the degree of loss. You could take some multivitamin and iron pills, and highly seasoned food items to revive your taste sensation. However, this may not be successful. Please consult your neurologist regarding this. Take care!
Avatar m tn I had an exposure on May 1st, did a 4th gen test and an RNA test on day 20, both came back negative. How accurate are these tests and should I expect a different result at say day 28? I realize that 3 months is where I need to get 100% but with the two negative tests at day 20 is that a good indicator?

Avatar n tn has to be omitted as a bowl of Frosted Mini Wheats will have negative affects on your glucose level test results. Frosted means covered in melted sugar, that white glaze stuff. Fact: There are 11.9 grams of sugar per 24 biscuits of FMW, about ¼-⅓ bowl. Double this for a bowl and you get 23.8 grams of sugar. Add a glass of milk - where every 8oz's equals 8 grams of sugar - your end result is a whopping total of 31.8 grams of sugar per bowl!
Avatar f tn The liver plays an important role in coordinating the regulation of iron homeostasis and is involved in regulating the level of iron absorption in the duodenum and iron recycling by the macrophages. Iron homeostasis is disturbed by several metabolic and genetic disorders, including various forms of hereditary hemochromatosis. This review will focus on liver disease and how it is affected by disordered iron homeostasis, as observed in hereditary hemochromatosis and due to HFE mutations.
Avatar f tn As long as it's not homeostasis you'll be fine. Try an oatmeal bath maybe.
6695047 tn?1383854549 He has reached what my vet is saying is a homeostasis phase which, as has been the case with Riggs, is very odd for an AKD cat. They either get noticeably worse or better, and he is neither. Has anyone else ever had a similar experience, either as a vet or owner, and can tell me what the outcome was? And any advice that helped you through it? He has only just been started on syringe feeding the last day and a half. Did syringe feeding make a difference?
Avatar f tn I would say that there could be a relation yes, at least theoretically, but an endocrinologist would be able to answer this question correctly.

Avatar m tn Hi all, I am 30 years old, exercise, with a fairly clean diet, no family history of diabetes. I have recently visited an endo because my fasting glucose was a bit high, 95 on the last blood work. Every other test was completely normal. After a complete blood/urine test, everything came back normal, including A1C of 4.8 My endo suggested that I can take the glucose tolerance test to be sure (he is very thorough).
Avatar n tn The neurologist prescribed gababentin to me and told me to bring down my diabetes glucose level. My glucose level was 16 last year and I brought it down to between range 6-7. It hovers now between 7-8 nowadays. When my glucose level was 6-7, I was already experiencing the pain. Any other suggestions from you will be appreciated.
