Avatar m tn The prevalence of glucose intolerance in hyperthyroid state was 39.4% [impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) 31.5% and diabetes mellitus (DM) 7.9%]. This was significantly higher than that of 30.7% [IGT 19.2% and DM 11.5%] in healthy volunteers (p < 0.05). Glucose intolerance was associated with higher systolic blood pressure, higher mean arterial pressure, lower CIR, and higher T4 levels but not with the levels of T3.
Tbd Postprandial hyperglycemia is also one of the earliest abnormalities of glucose homeostasis associated with type 2 diabetes" https://care.diabetesjournals.org/content/24/4/775 So test 1-2 hours after a meal. As a pure guess, I'd think that once a month is sufficient - unless you change your diet or activity or other risk factors.
2118271 tn?1337463104 I am going to an endecronologist next week and my glucose tolerance test did show blood glucose ups and crashes too from 180 to 60 within an hour . It's also not about how low it gets but also how fast it drops . either this is prediabetes , or insulinoma which is a usually benign tumor on the pancreas that releases too much insulin .

I do take Klonopin 0.5 Half of that to sleep at night or I will wake up shaking..not sure exactly what is going on...
Avatar f tn The liver plays an important role in coordinating the regulation of iron homeostasis and is involved in regulating the level of iron absorption in the duodenum and iron recycling by the macrophages. Iron homeostasis is disturbed by several metabolic and genetic disorders, including various forms of hereditary hemochromatosis. This review will focus on liver disease and how it is affected by disordered iron homeostasis, as observed in hereditary hemochromatosis and due to HFE mutations.
Avatar f tn As long as it's not homeostasis you'll be fine. Try an oatmeal bath maybe.
535882 tn?1396576685 At a constant dose you will reach a steady state blood level. The effect of the medication continues and builds if you continue to use the relief to work on your life issues and don't entirely rely on the medication to fix you.
Avatar m tn Her doctor in the hospital said he was concerned she may have low blood sugar so my brothers fed her junk food and cake. When she got home, her glucose reading was 240 and that freaked her out. She returned to a good diet and her number dropped below 180. She went to her doctor for a routine visit and was very worried about her numbers so the doctor gave her xanax and glucophage.
6695047 tn?1383854549 He has reached what my vet is saying is a homeostasis phase which, as has been the case with Riggs, is very odd for an AKD cat. They either get noticeably worse or better, and he is neither. Has anyone else ever had a similar experience, either as a vet or owner, and can tell me what the outcome was? And any advice that helped you through it? He has only just been started on syringe feeding the last day and a half. Did syringe feeding make a difference?
Avatar m tn Take Gas X or Beano. If you're eating healthy the vegetables can cause you to have gas. Believe me, you're not the only one experiencing this. Anti-tax pills helped me with this problem.

Avatar f tn After a few months of this, I noticed that I needed to view them, as all I could think of was the state of euphoria I was getting from masturbating and the wonderful feeling I was getting having erections all the time. Trouble was, when it came time to have the weekly sex with my wife, I was either not in the mood or drained from an earlier session. This caused hardness problem with my penis. Naturally, I then started worrying about not going hard which didn't help matters at all.
Avatar n tn when tested 2-4 hours later the urine was completly clear. so you state that it takes 2-4 hours for consumed suger to peak? i thought glucose is easily absorbed? the bottom line is a fastin glucose of 5.3 is not high?

Avatar n tn It's called cholestasis (not homeostasis), but the above poster is right about the rest of it. Definitely ask your Dr on Monday though just to be sure!
Avatar f tn Studies have indeed show that high blood glucose may predispose to cancer and cancer cells primarily run on glucose. Views on this are diverse and while further studies may need to be done, it is still up to the patient to take this. Westernized approach of cancer has involved chemotherapy and medications while eastern medicine have been employing dietary approach in management of diseases for a long time. Discuss this with your doctors for proper management. Take care and best regards.
Avatar f tn Years passed, and I had another child. During the pregnancy instead of the standard glucose testing, I was fed eggs, toast, orange juice, etc. and my one hour sugar after that meal was 63. I felt hungry. This prompted another visit to the endo. Same battery of tests run including going to the lab 3 days in a row for fasting sugar and insulin. 1st day fasting sugar was 82, insulin was 3. 2nd day was low carb breakfast. One hour later sugar was 67 and insulin was 38.
Avatar n tn As a type 1 diabetic mom, I know that even though poor diabetic control can harm a developing baby, the mother's glucose reading and the baby's glucose reading are two separate entities entirely. The baby has his own circulatory system and his own glucose regulatory system. So if the baby had a dangerously low sugar level, this would probably not have anything to do with the mother's sugar levels.
Avatar m tn The intima-media thickness of the carotid artery was measured by ultrasound, and an oral glucose tolerance test was performed to calculate the homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA). RESULTS: Numerous well-recognized correlations such as between BMI and HOMA (P < 0.02) as well as BMI and vessel wall thickness (P < 0.05) were successfully reproduced, thus confirming consistency of our dataset.
Avatar f tn Disturbed insulin regulation can lead to food cravings, weight gain..and diabetes. Insulin helps with breaking food down to glucose, the bodies natural sugar that is fed to our bodies cells to give us energy. Food probably plays a role too.
Avatar n tn In August 2010 my Mum, who is diabetic, went into a diabetic coma in her sleep due to dangerously low glucose levels. Mum remained in a non responsive state for a few weeks before gradually making some improvements but her recovery has been minimal in all honesty.
473884 tn?1207981793 so is it possible that I have been maintaining a constant state of withdrawal or something similar and now that I have stopped that I am not going to feel it as much? I don't know if that makes any sense.
Avatar f tn Having the right supplementation regiment and diet will ensure that cravings are curbed. When your body has all the nutrients and minerals it needs and is in a state of homeostasis you will not have the desire or urge to drink. Ensuring that you have the correct nutrition and balanced neurotransmitters the process of withdrawal will be greatly reduced in length and symptoms.
