Avatar n tn Just got results from annual bloodwork. Glucose level was 270 and this was a fasting blood test. They told me it was high- How bad is it? Avatar n tn Levels between 100 and 126 mg/dl are referred to as impaired fasting glucose or pre-diabetes. These levels are considered to be risk factors for type 2 diabetes and its complications. Diabetes is typically diagnosed when fasting blood glucose levels are 126 mg/dl or higher. Note: mg/dL = milligrams per deciliter" Weight control and diet play a large, large part in controlling diabetes. For reading on diabetes control go here http://tinyurl.
Avatar f tn I have a fasting blood glucose level of 101 and 102 for several years now and have been taking diovan hct and excedrin. I know these drugs have the ability to raise blood sugar readings. Should I be concerned about these readings? If I get off these drugs will my levels return to normal?
Avatar f tn a fasting plasma glucose of more than 105 mg/dl, a 1-hour glucose level of more than 190 mg/dl, a 2-hour glucose level of more than 165 mg/dl, or a 3-hour glucose level of more than 145 mg/dl.
Avatar n tn if normal blood insulin levels are 5-20 and my fasting insulin level was 3 would that be considered a normal result?
Avatar m tn of normal. Normal for fasting glucose level range is around 72 to 99 and up to 140 two hours after eating. https://www.medicinenet.com/normal_blood_sugar_levels_in_adults_with_diabetes/article.htm You sound within normal to me. 1276121 tn?1420860600 Well as some of you know i had my first appointment 7/27 and by ultrasound i measured 5w2d. Today my lab work came back and my hcg was 28,059, is that normal? Also did a glucose and they wanted that to be between 90-130 and mine came back at 131 so they want me to do the 3 hour. I hope all goes well tuesday when i do the 3 hour.
468796 tn?1220029445 Fasting glucose is normal if under 100) my insulin level was 151!!! Ideally fasting insulin should be no higher than 10, but my doctor considers anything under 20 good. Anyway, having high insulin circulating in your body is the first step towards Type 2 diabetes. Right now your blood glucose is normal, however having high insulin is an indication that your cells are becoming resistant to taking in the insulin which in turns lower your glucose level.
Avatar n tn between 70-126 is the number range that many doctors use. But this is for fasting glucose levels only. After meals, it is normal for glucose levels to rise above this, and the numbers quoted as 'normal' vary, depending on which doctor you talk to. I have read that a number of about 140-150 is considered healthy for after-meal sugar levels.
Avatar n tn At that time I was complaining of constant thirst, frequent urination, and sometimes night sweats, and slow healing. 6 month follow-up (one year ago) the fasting glucose level was 113. A1C was 6.0 I have been modifiying diet, exercising frequently and have lost approx 10-12 lbs. (Most of this in the last 3 to 4 months) Follow up testing yesterday showed fasting glucose and 2 hour glucose at 93 and A1C level at 5.9. I don't have insulin values for you but if needed, could get them.
Avatar n tn thanks for that but does not answer question about whether the level will increase or decrease from random(non fasting).
Avatar f tn My glucose has always been normal. I have been steadily losing weight and now weigh 102. I previously 208. I lost my weight without trying, but doctors say I'm fine. I just had labs done and all liver tests decreased but still within normal levels, but most alarming to me was my glucose level rose from 95 to 113. Should I be concerned?
Avatar m tn Walking 30-40 minutes every day evening. Today fasting sugar was 140 but after doing yoga for sometime I rechecked fasting which was 186. I drank only plain water. Anybody can help me why this happens.
Avatar m tn my fasting glucose was normal, but my A1c indicated pre-diabetes. I managed to bring my A1c down to a normal level by watching my carb intake. I wish I could give you more information.
Avatar n tn Fasting blood glucose is still in the Normal range despite it takes 3 hours on the GTT for my glucose to get back to a normal level. Fasting Glucose - 100 1 Hour - 204 2 Hour - 181 3 Hour - 125 So now it's Diabetes, Hypothyroid and Fibromyalgia Any thoughts to be shared are appreciated. This is all new to me!
Avatar m tn Your first post led me to believe otherwise. Stating "My fasting levels range between 126 and 136" and then say "This morning my fasting level was 115", tells me your fasting levels are all over the place not just "between 126 and 136". Your postprandial levels are normal, your fasting levels NOT. Try not to snack up to 2 hours prior to bedtime. If you eat carbs at dinner cut back on them.
Avatar f tn Hi, Is this 140 a fasting level? If it is a fasting level it is not normal. Normal fasting should be lower than 95, and ideally even in the 80s. Are you overweight or any other health issues? Family history of diabetes? I would strongly recommend that you visit your doctor and tell him or her your results. They should do some further investigation. Hba1c and glucose testing. If you have a home glucose meter, please do some more testing.
1674823 tn?1307263620 For one, the figures you gave are not consistent for a glucose level. For example, a normal glucose fasting level may be 70, whereas a postprandial glucose level (after eating), may be 120. Perhaps you meant to post the #'s without the decimal point? That would make more sense. Have you been diagnosed with pre-diabetes, or diabetes? Who instructed you to check your blood glucose and what were the instructions?
Avatar m tn I saw the doctor because my fasting glucose level a month ago was 98 and I was concerned. I never eat sweets or anything like that. I was also concerned becayse my mother is type-1 diagnosed at age 22, Her father was type-1 diagnosed at 46. That was why I became worried. Do you know if medical doctors still provide answer questions here?
Avatar f tn Plain water is OK, nothing else. A fasting or an OGTT [oral glucose test] are the first level of tests. When your numbers are high or low the doctor verifies with an A1c. Bottom line, don't worry unless the A1c is near or above 6%.
Avatar m tn Start testing to see which foods affect your glucose levels. And, of course, maintain normal body and perform 30-60 mins of daily exercise. If your levels remain high it may be time to see your doctor for adjustments to your medications.
