194838 tn?1303428544 I do not test my own blood but am sent to the hospital for fairly regular tests but notice that when people post with their blood glucose levels they are in the 100s. I am from the UK and wonder if there is a conversion chart because I think it would be more beneficial if I could compare with others on the forum to get a sense of how im doing for comparison, Any advise would be greatly appreciated .
798555 tn?1292787551 History: I posted here in the past, as my fasting glucose was between 100-110 for almost 2 years, per clinic testing. Ac1 was OK but showed a pattern of increasing to the upper part of the acceptable range. So I took action when Drs did not seem to be interested in being pro active. That is the problem with western medicine....wait till its too late. The last few clinic tests showed fasting glucose in the 90's, and my new glucose meter just showed 93 this morning, looking much better.
Avatar m tn Hello and welcome to the forum. Thanks for the question. All concerns such as this are best to discuss with your physician for clarification. If you don't go to a GP, maybe it is time to start as that can be really beneficial to track your health. Did you get the blood draw after fasting? That would make a difference. https://www.webmd.com/diabetes/guide/normal-blood-sugar-levels-chart-adults This article has information related to charting of glucose numbers.

Avatar m tn I am a type 2 diabetic and normally my morning fasting glucose numbers are between mid 70 to mid 80;except when I exercice. I recently changed my excercise program to daily morning walks of around 2 1/2 miles for cardio and evening routines of 30 minutes of toning and strength resisitences. For the past couple of weeks, my fasting number in morning after my cardio routine has been running between 90 to 100. Is this normal or should I be concerned?
490128 tn?1218670389 I had a 2-hour fasting, 5-draw GTT with low readings at the 1.5 and 2 hour mark. The problem is the tech did not draw my blood at the correct times. My blood should have been drawn every 30 minutes over a two-hour time frame resulting in a total of five draws. From 7:30am to 9:30am. The tech took the last two draws at 10:30am and 11:00am, (one-hour and one-hour-thirty-minutes past the scheduled end of the test). Those readings were 49 mg/dL and 50mg/dL.
Avatar m tn Both of your values suggest that you have impaired fasting glucose (range 100 - 125). The measurement is the same in fasting and non fasting testing - the difference is in the reference range. A normal fasting glucose is < 100 and the current thinking seems to be that even a result in the mid to high 90s might suggest close monitoring. The answer to your question is that it doesn't matter whether they call it non fasting or fasting glucose test result.
Avatar f tn Tingling and numbness can be signs of nerve damage caused by uncontrolled and unmanaged diabetes - excess and unknown glucose levels. Does your husband have a home glucose test meter and is he testing his glucose levels at the appropriate times? More can said about this once we hear back from you. Also, not mentioned is his last A1c test result.
975514 tn?1324997938 I recently had a blood test, which included a glucose test. I wasn't fasting. I ate a bowl of whole grain cereal at about 5AM. My test was a 10AM. My uncle has diabetes and my sister is hypoglycemic. I know I get sick if I have a shake from McDonalds, but that's about it. I get really tired and nauseated. I don't drink sugary beverages at all just because I am always watching my weight, but I wonder now how that would effect me?
Avatar f tn An OGTT [GTT] to me is a waste of time and should rarely be used. Get a fasting plasma glucose test because this test is simpler, more accurate, less expensive, and less variable than the OGTT. Normal fasting range = 3.3-5.5 mmol/l <---where you want be Prediabetes range = 5.6-6.9 mmol/l Include in the same blood draw [sample] an A1c test then use this formula to see your estimated daily average glucose [eAG] as compared to your fasting glucose results level. 28.7 X A1c – 46.
Avatar f tn I just looked at a conversion chart. Your fasting is good. But after meals is high. They usually want 6.2 and lower 1 hour after meals. Maybe because your 2 hr is a little higher then they want. I would try pairing a protein with your breakfast. It usually helps your body obsorb carbs better. Eggs, cheese etc.
Avatar m tn s not enough. You need to do 2 hour fasting oral glucose with a fasting test, a test at 1 hour after drinking a 75 G drink of glucose solution and a 2 hour test. My fasting tests usually come back in a good range as well, but my 1 and 2 hour test after drinking the glucose drink are well over 200 which is all it takes to diagnose diabetes. If you have a monitor and are "randomly" doing testing... all I can say, is quit doing it randomly. For 3-4 days in a row test at these times.
Avatar n tn I had a glucose tolerance test and an insulin fasting (drinking the glucose drink) blood test done. I have seen my results but have not had them interpreted for me. My glucose fasting results came back within normal range but my insulin fasting results came back out of range for the 0,1, & 2 hour results. They were much higher than the normal ranges. Does this mean I have insulin resistance?
Avatar m tn Just did a fasting glucose test in a lab and it came back at 108, which is pre-diabetes according to the chart. But I am at a healthy weight and run 6 miles every morning. So whatever the recommended lifestyle changes are, I am already doing more. Also no family history of diabetes. Could there be something external factor that contributed to that high reading?
Avatar f tn Hello, I've never been concerned about diabetes before as my fasting blood glucose levels have always been under 100. However, my last fasting glucose test as well as my husband's were both high (mine 127, his 140). The doctor had us return for A1c tests which were in the normal range (mine 5.6, his 5.5). Based on that, the doctor assumed we had eaten something before the fasting test and said, 'see you in 3 months'. But we didn't eat anything.
490398 tn?1319940717 This is NOT a fasting glucose. My dad is diabetic and he has all of the tools to test blood. He has regular diabetes not Type 2 but it usually skips a generation. I had blood taken at the doctor last week, again, not fasting, for other health problems and it came back at 169. My doc obviously wants to retest me when I've been fasting and get an A1c.
Avatar m tn t understand what diabetes86 say about fasting glucose. i read that fasting is baseline so everything go from there no? if my fasting is 110 then glucose spike will be about 30 higher than if fasting was 80 or not? otherwise what the point of having low fasting?
