Common Questions and Answers about Glucose definition biology

glucose

Avatar n tn Thank you Mel and Dr. Goodman for your explanations. As all women diagnosed with Borderline microinvasive have probably found, making a decision on treatment is heartbreakingly difficult. Do you follow the borderline diagnosis and vigilantly monitor your pelvic and abdominal region as well as breasts taking some comfort in the fact that by definition these tumors are "slow growers" and LMP's.
Avatar m tn Diabetes is diagnosed when fasting blood glucose levels are over 125. If fasting blood glucose levels are allowed to be over 250 or even 200, diabetes is very poorly controlled.
Avatar n tn You would think that if anything, your glucose levels should be higher than normal if you have OSA or UARS, since your stress responses are by definition elevated. Your glucose levels after the challenge are lower than normal, with low insulin levels as well. It's important to note that there are many other variables that can artificially lower your glucose readings, such as certain antidepressants, certain digestive problems, Addison's, thyroid problems, and many others.
Avatar f tn I went to my doc and she gave me Cipro for about 7 days redid uti test and my blood pressure was 107/70 and the glucose from the previous test showed glucose levels were in the "normal' range. Ok let me just say I'm a bit freaked out. My biology teacher told us a story of how he was hiking the grand canyon and fell off is horse and had bloody urine (knowing he had damaged himself ), and knew he needed medical help. Here I am no injury and I'm have red bloody urine.
Avatar n tn I am back from my early glucose 3 hr test- fasted for 12 hours ... STARVING NOW. Hoping all is well- I was tired after drinking it- but could be cause I was up at 5 am ALSO_____ I had an ultrasound today- and baby is 21/2 pounds- I am only 26 weeks- is this HUGE???? ALSO I saw the tech type that my placenta is GRADE 1- which I googled and looks like the best it can be --right? and ADNEXA - tech put in SUBOPTIMAL- which was the lowest of 3 choices- what does that mean- my ovaries???
Avatar f tn Yes, stress can play a role with elevated glucose levels and so does an uncontrolled lipid panel and high blood pressure. Interactions with other medications comes to mind, lack of daily exercise and not following a diabetes diet all play major roles with higher than normal glucose levels.
Avatar m tn This statement may give the impression that fructose can cause blood sugar (blood glucose) to rise. Is that correct ? The biology that I learned said that in humans, the metabolic pathway /breakdown of fructose does not go via glucose formation. Having said that, fructose in excess is still bad because most of it is converted into fat by the body ! Otherwise, I think you offer very good advice. I would also add carbohydrate and calorie counting for better management of diabetes.
Avatar n tn I believe antibiotics is probably what got us here in the first place but biology doesn’t work as you suggested. Antibiotics can also cure us even though that’s not what we are looking for here. We’re looking for patterns to gain more information about PATM. Antibiotics really means anything that diminishes or kill bacteria but harm host cells less. If PATM is bacterial related, then whatever we do to get better will always involve killing that particular bacteria strain.

Avatar f tn Not really. I have Type I and my glucose levels elevate if I don't eat. Her body is trying to send her sugar for energy (and food), so her levels are going to be up. Start having her eat low-sugar snacks every couple of hours, and try to eat 4-6 SMALL meals a day. In any case, a visit to the doctor can't hurt!
Avatar m tn has anyone with hyperthyroidism had the experience of having their symptoms somewhat alleviated by eating? I have this occur everyday, my symptoms are worse in the morning than at mid day and only begin to subside after eating; they almost never completely go away but become more tolerable. Then near bed time they again become very strong until I get up and eat something again.
Avatar m tn Hi im 15 today in school i was sharing one of those big headphones with my friend and i cut myself on with the headphone and those are his headphones he cut himself with the headphones before me but when i asked my biology teacher about the headphones said it is a risk if one of you have the virus i know i dont but my friend might be lying please help thank you
Avatar m tn a glucose drip does not have any effect on reliability of your tests.

429949 tn?1224691579 No, meningitis alone should not cause white matter lesions. By definition it is an infection of the meninges, the membranes that surrounf the outside of the brain and cord. If the meningitis was also accompanied by an encephalitis, like ADEM, yes it could and does often leave lesions. Back to meningitis. Whether there would be evidence eight months later depends on the type of meningitis. A simple viral infection would likely have completely cleared.
1225178 tn?1318980604 My wife has an education in biology and I've been pestering her ever since I got into this stuff about a year ago when I started treatment. The best book is "Molecular Cell Biology" by Lodish and others. She found the course challenging because of the chemistry involved so some background in science would be extremely useful.
Avatar f tn I was real good in biology class. (97% on my bio regent) but I forgot these details.... anybody????
Avatar m tn I remember my professor trying to make some of us confident on first semester by telling us that most of biology and chemistry is just strange words for something very easy. We felt happy and comfortable but realized later on, that he was just pulling our legs. Different probiotics favor different food (prebiotic) as I mentioned on my previous post. I remember now, fiber was used as an example during labs to explain this since it’s a common prebiotic.
