glucose

Avatar f tn My glucometer allows me to download the past 500 glucose tests I've taken to an excel document. Can I, now or in future, import that information directly to my diabetes tracker so I can have a broader data stream to better understand my stats?
Avatar m tn Intense blood glucose testing is the only way to get a handle on whether or not your medications are being properly used. Many diabetic clinics have a download feature where you come in and they download information from your meter. Without sucvh information your physician or nurse practicioner or PA cannot provide appropriate advice.
Avatar n tn I confess that the manual logging into a book is something I always hated to do also, and I have been a type 1 for 34 years. I have found some easier ways to keep track of the glucose patterns. Read on. Most boys are more into computers than hand-written notes. You might check to see if Accu-check has a computer application that you can use to download his numbers onto the computer.

Avatar f tn Find an exercise buddy or a gym buddy. Find someone you know who has the same goal. Keep each other motivated. Set goals together, plan, stick to the plan and work hard on achieving both your goals.
1554089 tn?1294855456 Humalog is insulin lispro, a rapid/fast acting blood glucose lowering agent. Humalog 75/25 is a mixture of insulin lispro solution [75] and insulin lispro protamine suspension [25], an intermediate-acting blood glucose lowering agent. Call your doctor's office for an explanation as to why you were put on fast acting alone.
Avatar n tn sounds like what you have is Dawn Phenomenon DP when you get up in the morning your liver is being a good buddy and dumping glucose so your body has energy to get up and moving. The problem is your liver is ether dumping to much glucose or your pancreas cant handle what is being dumped . So your BG goes up.
Avatar m tn You need to use your own glucose meter and to religiously take blood samples until you get a handle on glucose control. This includes a few weeks of intense testing, to include baseline levels when you awake, before and after each meal, and two hours after each meal, along with a precise calorie count and diary of your food. Later on you can reduce the number of blood sticks. You can't eat like a "normal person".
Avatar n tn Hello. I'm not a medical professional, just the parent of a kid with diabetes. If your son has only the symtoms you describe, then hypoglycemia or diabetes are not the cause of his problems. The main reason is that Motrin is not an effective treatment for either condition. Migraines are not common with either condition, and if you aren't seeing any increased urination or thirst, or any of the other symptoms of hypoglycemia (http://www.childrenwithdiabetes.
Avatar m tn Thanks for using the forum. The level of 130 would be considered elevated. However, as the answer above explains, the fasting blood glucose is not the best test for diagnosing diabetes. I would recommend that you speak with your doctor about what they would recommend as the next step for more reliable testing to see where you stand.

Avatar f tn In a series of nine studies published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Baumeister discovered that people with steady glucose levels were more persistent at attempting to complete an unsolvable task than those whose glucose levels declined during the experiments. "Increase your blood glucose and you can fuel your willpower," he says. You can create glucose from fruit, many vegetables, whole grains, and dairy products.
806995 tn?1265823176 My glucose level are on the high side (6.5, 5.2, 6.1 mmol/l at -1, 1, and 4 weeks of TX respectively). Hence, I suspect I'm insulin resistent. I'm genotype 1 and have also HIV. At 4 weeks I only had a 0.23 log drop in VL. I may well be a non-responder, and perhaps it is related to a possible IR. In November 2008 the results of a double blind test was published, where IR geno 1 HCV where treated with additional Metformin to suppress the IR. It worked, but mainly for women and fat people.
Avatar f tn For starters, changing lifestyle habits can go a long way in controlling type 2 diabetes. In my eyes, it's a must do. If you decide not to change, diabetes becomes a progressive disease only getting worse over time ending with neurothapy and amptutation. You and only you can control and manage this disease. Here's how.

Avatar m tn t need to spend extra time recording all the details. The one I have selected to use at least for the moment is Glucose Buddy which I have on my cell phone. I am interested in knowing what others are using.
Avatar m tn Your numbers indicated glucose out of control and you need to pay attention to what your doctor says to you. Go back and consult with your doctor so you can understand what you need to do in order to control and manage your glucose levels before they get way of hand. If you Google "diabetes complications", I guarantee you will not like what you read. Your home meter [test kit] could also be whacked giving you inaccurate test results.
Avatar n tn There are many factors that affect glucose scores, not the least of which is stress. Stress can make your scores rise quite noticably. Simply having a big test at school will make my daughter's scores go up a hundred points. Exercise, or the lack thereof, can also affect glucose scores. The types of food you choose can also affect your scores. If you choose foods with high protein and fat content, that can make your scores go up some.

1715838 tn?1330648200 Hopefully others who use the MH Diabetes tracker will come along and provide you with tips. In the meantime you can download the Atkins carb tool by Googling "atkins carbohydrate counter list". The food list is quite extensive and detailed and is 106 pages.
Avatar n tn Much more accurate is a fasting blood glucose (particularly if it is high), or HA1C - which will tell you your average blood glucose over the past 3 months. If you are concerned and there is diabetes in your family, you could use one of their glucose monitors and measure 2 hours after a normal meal. If your levels are high 2 hours after a normal meal, that would indicate that you should look into it further.
Avatar m tn re late to catching your airplane flight makes the muscles and liver release stored glucose, in turn you burn this off. Continued exercise cause the muscles to store excess glucose for future use. This lowers your glucose levels. At this stage you already know you are prediabetic. There is no need for an A1c meter. This where the home glucose meter becomes a useful tool. I'm not certain of the health protocols in India regarding home glucose meter purchases.

Avatar n tn To keep my mind off of Diabetes, especially like today when my Insulin Pump QuickSet didn't go in as ouchless as advertised, I am a electronic gadget/computer geek. Always on the lookout for something that's fun. I was like this before being diagnosed, so at least one thing in my life hasn't been changed even though everything else seems to have. I found two FREE applications for PALM pda users that may be of interest to some of you.
