Common Questions and Answers about Glucose and values

glucose

Avatar n tn Upon performing the 2hr OGTT (using 75g drink) or the 3hr OGTT (using 100g drink), on several occasions, I have experienced serum glucose values measured at 1hr lower than those of the 2hr glucose values (Fasting glucose within reference range and all samples collected, processed, and separated within appropriate timing). For individuals with "mild" diabetes and suspected gestational diabetes, how likely it is for glucose measurements to show this trend?
Avatar m tn Acceptance criteria in ISO 15197, 2003 are that 95% of all differences in glucose values (i.e., between reference method and meter) should be within 15 mg/dL for glucose values less than 75 mg/dL, and within 20% for glucose values greater than or equal to 75 mg/dL.
Avatar n tn s advice i have been taking lots of fluid and diet precautions but i am really worried about the values not getting normal and seek your advice and suggestions. Kindly tell what should i do? Is it something seriously wrong?
979080 tn?1323433639 And one of the ways to create more glucose that can be converted into fatty acids, is by making you INSULIN RESISTANT and eventually turning you into a DIABETIC. And being INSULIN RESISTANT or DIABETIC, lowers your chances of treatment success. When your blood sugar is high, your pancreas has to produce bigger amounts of insulin.....and insulin, makes interferon ineffective. You mentioned on another post that you're not checking your blood sugar fasting. I would change that.
Avatar m tn Hi, i made up an OGTT test (75 gr) and my glucose level after 2 hours is 43 mg/dl which can be a hypoglycemia. I am not quite sure about the accuracy of this test becuse after 1 hour i was active and i think that this can lower my glucose level. My questions are : What can be the normal glucose level after 3-4 hours lunch or dinner time.(mine is lower after 4 hours) If i make daily activity is it normal to have lower values? If i make exercise , can this lower my glucose level.
Avatar f tn If you have many fastings down around 50, your medications should be adjusted or your dietary habits changed to prevent that, because your body will start adjusting to very low glucose values and may one day fail to alert you to a dangerous low(we call this hypoglycemic unawareness). Speak to your doctor(and your Mom's doctor) about these patterns and see if some changes can be made to improve them take care.
Avatar m tn I always take 2 or 3 pulkas or chapathis during night every day and i dont eat rice during night.. But whenever i check the blood glucose levels with the glucometer, i find that the fasting values are not within the range of normal values viz 110 for fasting. but the post lunch levels always within the normal range of viz 140.The random levels always varies from 125 to 150. Kindly advise me whether i am diabetic and do i have to take medicine for diabetes?
Avatar f tn My last blood work before this was in May and all was fine with glucose. They did a stress test and an ECHO and all were ok except for some mild mitral valve regurgitation and calcification. EKG in sinus rhythm was fine. Is there a reason the glucose was up due to the AFib? I have a lot of anxiety and to me this is worrisome. The nurse did not seem concerned at all and the doctors did not mention it. I am now on Coumadin 4 mg. since this is my 2nd incident. This glucose has me worried.
Avatar m tn Kidney failure has been associated with uncontrolled and badly managed glucose levels. It would benefit you the most if you lowered your glucose levels to normal values. Your current glucose daily average - based upon your A1c 9.9% - is between 11.8-13.3 mmol/l [212-240 mg/dl]. HIGH. Foods? Look at diabetic nutrition and perform daily physical exercises. See this link, especially the paragraph on GFR http://www.kidney.org/kidneydisease/ckd/knowGFR.
647391 tn?1275016633 Your A1c converted to daily glucose values are 174 mg/dl and 182 mg/dl. Better work is needed on your part to improve control and management of your diabetes. Avatar n tn Hello! I'm not a medical professional, just the parent of a kid with diabetes. The normal blood glucose ranges for anyone, child or not are between 80 and 120. Some doctors will say 70-110, but it's all in the same range. Now, that's the target, but depending on what is eaten for example, a healthy person's blood glucose can rise temporarily up close to 200. As long as the values return to normal after a couple hours, all is well.
Avatar m tn I am a heavy smoker, no cholesterol or glucose problems and i'm not obese
Avatar m tn The difference between a fasting glucose of 101 and 106 is probably negligible. Both of your values suggest that you have impaired fasting glucose (range 100 - 125). The measurement is the same in fasting and non fasting testing - the difference is in the reference range. A normal fasting glucose is < 100 and the current thinking seems to be that even a result in the mid to high 90s might suggest close monitoring.
Avatar m tn I had my blood work done about a month ago and now have received a copy some of the results have me concerned first is the ESR which is 42mm Anion Gap 2meq Fasting Glucose 107 Total Billrubin 1.33mg ALT 21U/L TSH 2.46 Free T4 .
438478 tn?1204582889 C-reactive protein I found out recently is a measure of inflammation. It can also signify possible inflammation in the heart or heart disease. I have lupus and diabetes, and I have very high C-reactive protein. I think it's not too much of an issue, if you can get it down. It's when it stays high for long periods of time that it gets to be a concern. Over 3.0 is considered very high risk. Mine is close to 3.0, mine is like 2.8 or something like that.
Avatar n tn What your pattern suggests is that your body can still keep your post-meal glucose controlled but not the overnight one(when your liver makes glucose for you). With good changes in your diet and exercise patterns and some weight loss, you should be able to get this morning value under control too. Best of luck and take care.
Avatar n tn I have never had fasting glucose above 87 or Triglycerides above 170. Can the recent high values be because my TSH at the time was high? If so, how long should I wait to have my glucose retested to see if I am truly prediabetic? Should I test my glucose randomly? I am concerned about being labeled prediabetic because of insurance issues. I have never had any other health problems. I am 49.
Avatar f tn Those foods that have high GI values tend to release large amounts of glucose in the blood stream more quickly as compared to those that have low GI values. As a result, the foods with high GI values cause your glucose to rise much faster than the foods low on the GI. Also, eat fruits with other foods to slow the absorption of fructose, fruit sugar.
Avatar f tn 89 10 mmol/l) from 30 minutes to 1 hour after administration of the oral glucose dose, and should then return to fasting levels of 140 mg/dl (7.78 mmol/l) or less within a 2- to 3-hour period." thank you for your help!
Avatar f tn I worked in medical labs for years and it was quite typical to see glucose values over 100 when patients were given a glucose tolerance test. The normal values in our lab at that time were 80-120 mg/dL, but fasting glucose levels over 100 mg/dL typically resulted in follow-up testing for the patient. The section of the lab I worked (Clinical Chemistry) didn't do the HbA1c test. It might've been done in a different section or it may not have been available yet back then.
Avatar m tn Normal values for a C-peptide test are usually between 0.5 and 2.0 ng/mL. However, check you results as labs vary with ranges. You A1c indicates you glucose [blood sugar] on a daily average is 314-330 mg/dl, very unhealthy and can lead to serious life threatening conditions if not brought under control. Didn't you discuss your results with your doctor? Obtain paperwork on how to manage and control your rising glucose levels?
Avatar f tn Hello, mianna. I'm not a medical professional, just the parent of a kid with diabetes. Your glucose level is cause for concern, but you don't mention what the other symptoms are that you're seeing. There is a simple check that can be done at your doctor's office, I'd recommend you ease your concerns by scheduling an appointment. Good luck.
Avatar n tn Are the glucose readings accurate? Would you recommend the upgrade? I would appreciate any comments and advice. Thanks so much!
