Avatar n tn Thank you for your reply, I have had 3 scans done on my liver showing no damage and have had a previous glucose test all came back although that was a while ago,i did suffer with gestational diabetes with my last son two years ago,and my father has type 2,im a little over weight i guess my height is 5/2 and my weight is 10st 5 should i ask my doctor for another glucose test? thank you for your help, Jordan.
1977159 tn?1326101170 Hi I have recently undertaken a Hair Mineral analysis which resulted in imbalances in my minerals such as Adrenal insufficiency and Thyroid insufficiency The mineral levels in this result suggest that I am currently experiencing low HCl (stomach acid) and Blood Glucose Imbalance. I have subsequently carried out a blood test and the levels of T3 T4 and TSH found are within the normal range. To be exact: FT3: 4.4 (Range 2.8 - 7.1) FT4: 17.9 (Range 12.0 - 22) TSH: 1.
Avatar n tn Hypoglycemia also starves the brain of glucose energy, which is essential for proper brain function. Lack of glucose energy to the brain can cause symptoms ranging from headache, mild confusion, and abnormal behavior, to loss of consciousness, seizure, and coma. Severe hypoglycemia can cause death. Symptoms of hypoglycemia occur at different levels of blood glucose in different patients.
Avatar f tn PAIN IN FEET HANDS LEGS AND ARMS...CRAMP IN HANDS AND FEET AND FACE...PINS AND NEEDLES FEELING....PAIN IN LOWER BACK AND HIP....TIRED ALL THE TIME HAD 2 MRI SCANS FOUND BLOOD CLOTS AND LESIONS BUT SAY NOT TOO WORRYING..SHORT TERM MEMORY LOSS....CK LEVELS WERE LOW BUT NOW BORDERING NORMAL..GLUCOSE IS HIGH...HAVE HAD A LOT OF KIDNEY INFECTIONS......DO YOU THINK THIS IS MS.....
Avatar n tn I seriously doubt it. Where did you hear that, and why would anyone say such a thing? (I'm seriously curious here, not trying to insult you or anything - at least you asked!) Autism has to do with differences in the way the brain works. The brain uses - I think it's glucose - to function adequately. That's a lot different from cholesterol, which I'm pretty sure isn't really involved in glucose production or absorption or whatever.
878888 tn?1319634044 Go to doctor tommorrow to get lab results. Wondering if itching dry skin all over and brain fog could be from bs levels or thyroid (controlled). According to my meter 7 day average bs is 143.
Avatar f tn what is the cause of low potassium level and elevated glucose after brain tumor surgery and what can be done to correct it
Avatar f tn occasional burning pain in stomach, no other GI problems, good appetite, numbness in tip of the tongue, nausea, mild dizziness and headache, mostly like heavy head feeling, flushing of upper chest and neck. All blood work is normal; MRI of the brain negative, mildly enlarged thyroid with bilateral non vascularized nodules, positive for thyroid antibodies but normal thyroid function, negative for sjongren, lupus, RA, cholesterol ok, glucose level ok. I am waiting for a GI appt.
Avatar f tn Hi mingus78 and welcome to the forum. As Sarah mentioned the information you have provided, is far too little. The brain and the CNS are of astronomical complexity. . In brain degenerative diseases grey matter is decreased in size or/and damaged, however, the extremely diverse etiology , complexity and the large number of these diseases, does not allow for speculation, given the lack of detailed MRI findings, symptoms and patient history.
Avatar n tn Going for 2-3 days without eating is terrible for the health of your body and for your ability to think clearly (the brain absolutely has to have some carbs in order to function), and while deployed, you absolutely need to be in top shape. I would go to your unit's doctor and ask him to loan you a glucometer so you can test to see if your glucose is dropping low at times.
Avatar n tn CSF contained 42 WBCs/µl (4% PMN, 96% MNC); CSF protein was 298 mg% and glucose was 84 mg%. Two brain MRIs, one cervical, thoracic and lumbosacral spinal cord MRI and two EMGs were normal. An EEG showed generalized bi‐hemispheric slowing in the theta and delta range with occasional sharp waves in the frontotemporal regions. A second CSF examination revealed 19 WBCs/µl (65% PMN, 35% MNC); CSF protein was 254 mg% and glucose was 137 mg%.
Avatar f tn There are many hormonal conditions that can cause unusual weight gain, including low thyroid function and glucose impairment. She may need a lot of tests to get to the bottom of it, but an endocrinologist should be able to find the answer.
1427033 tn?1297507496 I agree with the former posts...check thyroid, check insulin. Another possible cause is low cholesterol. I am having a similar problem as you are with feeling rage for several hours after eating something that has sugar in it. The rage can be delayed for anywhere from 4 to 12 hours after eating the sugary food.
Avatar m tn Im not sure what all was tested in the bloodtest I took, I know cholesterol, blood glucose and thyroid function were tested as well as a number of other things. I take plenty of vitamin d, and have just started taking b vitamins as well. My doctor also mentioned taking a blood test for testosterone as well. I will be sure to discuss these things with my doctor when I see him in a few weeks :).
Avatar f tn Hypoglycemia was seen in both groups and in two subjects with acute hepatic insufficiency, glucose administration alone resulted in rapid lowering of lactate levels.” https://jamanetwork.
Avatar n tn I know thyroid disorders can play a role in pancreatic function, and the onset of diabetes, but please, just to be sure, have her worked up just in case this is being caused by a insulin-producing tumor...Keep a tube of cake frosting on hand for the lowest sugar times (only give if she is conscious enough to swallow!) -it tastes way better than glucose paste! If you get really desperate, and emergent help is a long way off, the icing or glucose paste can be given anally too..
306245 tn?1244384967 From what I understand NF can mimic many diseases, like diabetes and thyroid. I am too tired to function many days and my bp is usually low 90/54 -95/63. both thyroid and diabetes run in the family (lucky us) anyway, my 3 questions are should I be tested for diabetes, even though I have no real symptoms, can a genetic test be done to see if I can am at risk of getting it?
Avatar n tn Your brains main energy source is glucose, and without it, it basically starves. Make sure you get enough complex carbs and stay hydrated (water) in your diet whenever you're going to need to focus for long periods of time.
Avatar n tn t low or high (some people, myself included, seem to have similar symptoms to hypoglcyemia if glucose levels go too high -- the reason is that when glucose is high, the brain is not able to use the glucose in the blood because of insufficient insulin, and the result is the same brain function problem that happens when the brain is starved for glucose because the person is hypoglycemic).
