Glucosamine tendonitis treatment

Common Questions and Answers about Glucosamine tendonitis treatment

You haven't said where the tendonitis is, and you also mention muscle pain, which is something different. There is no reason I know why thyroid problems would lead to this problem unless there is a sleep deprivation or anxiety or adjunct. Either might respond more long-term to meditation or relaxation therapy. On the other hand, if the thyroid is still causing this problem, then the medication isn't actually at optimum levels. So assuming this is something other than thyroid, what is it?
Hi Doc, First of all, I want to say this is a rather long story and I hope you read it. My name is Nick(26yrs) and I severed a tendon on Nov. 26, 2007 after punching through a glass window in my door. It was very bad to say the least. Right after I did this I thought that I cut an artery because so much blood was coming out. Also, I couldn't lift my hand up with my wrist. It was just hanging there but I could move my fingers.
Hello Dear, Treatment of a ruptured long head is usually conservative. The immediate goals of treatment are the maintenance of shoulder range of motion and the reduction of inflammation and pain with the use of anti inflammatory drugs, rest, and ice. After that, strengthening exercises for the shoulder and elbow flexors can be started.

I don't know anything that suggests that your complaints are treatment related but we have seen a lot of people complaining about not feeling well post treatment. Many attribute it to treatment. Some people complain of autoimmune disorders and I do think that is a risk associated with treatment for HCV. Esophageal inflammation and ulcers are something that I cannot recall seeing in this context but that doesn't exclude the possibility that they are treatment related.
Hello Dear, You should consult An orthopedic physician and get an x-ray done to rule out any damage. Glucosamine builds and maintains cartilage, tendons and other connective tissues in the body by acting as a building block for these materials and inhibiting enzymes that destroy cartilage. It is given in arthritis.Once the diagnosis is confirmed the treatment can be decided. It may be possible to improve symptoms with simple measures such as splintage, anti-inflammatory drugs and physiotherapy.
These sacs, called bursae, lie between tendons or between tendons and bones. Without these sacs, the tendons would rub against each other. After an injury or infection, or because of overuse, the bursae sometimes becomes inflamed. Bursitis is very common in the shoulder and the knee. Treatment for mild cases includes resting that part of the body, heat, and painkillers. Injections of medicine, or surgery, are sometimes used in more serious cases.
Normal appearance to biceps tendon. Normal appearance to the subscapularis. There is tendonosis of the supraspinatous. Normal appearance to infraspinatous. Degenerative change in the acromioclavicular joint. Left shoulder: Normal appearance to biceps tendon. Normal appearance to the subscapularis. There is tendonosis of the supraspinatous. There is a small delaminated tear of the bursal surface of the supraspinatous. Normal appearance to infraspinatous.
I was sent for an ultrasound to look for problems with the tendon - it was normal. I was then sent for an x-ray - it was also completely normal. The x-ray seemed to be for signs of breakage or arthritis. I went back to the doctor and requested and MRI as the radiographer who worked with the ultrasound technician reccomended it as a more thorough way to check for early signs of arthritis.
I would suggest you to go for an MRI and see if your patellar tendon, the tendon of quadriceps is fine and there is no problem with the quadriceps tendon. Follow up with an orthopedician for proper diagnosis and treatment. A traumatic patellar tendon rupture can occur on rare occasions. Patients with patellar tendon rupture present with pain, swelling, and minimal ability to extend the knee. Surgical treatment is available if physiotherapy, yoga does not help.
Not sure what your age is, but over this side of the 'pond' there is a lot of interest in glucosamine+chondroitin+ omega3 combo's as a retardent/help for the disease; best began at an earlier phase I believe. Do you no harm to check them out with your health professionals...they were recommended to me. I personally don't like to take too much of any one strong med for a protracted period so I swap over to strong aspirin periodically. Again, consult the doc etc and keep posting to this site.
We tend to get all kinds of pain with hcv. As time goes on, they tend to worsen. You don't mention if you are on treatment or not. Some people get pain from the treatment (tx) while others, like myself, have less pain while on tx.
Ok I took my dog to the vet last night and it turns out that the "lump" I felt was normal and nothing to worry about. When I got home I noticed my dog struggled to climb the stairs and started to let out a few cries. I looked him over and when I touched his back left hip area he cried again. During the night he would get up and cry a few more times and move around to get comfortable. I noticed he did this the previous night as well. He is a 5 year old Shepard mix. He weighs 57 lbs.
Sleeping is very uncomfortable on either the uninjured side or the healthy side. I've been taking Glucosamine and fish oil in hopes that these supplements would help, and I've seen little improvement. I'm not sleeping well, and I'm normally a very active runner/walker, and I've done little/no exercise due to this pain. Any suggestions?
The calf cramps were from the tibial tendon problem coupled with the long tendon (ditalis something or other) that runs up the inside of the calf (boo hoo) .. that long tendon has tenosynovitis in it which is swelling of the tendon sheath I believe. I have tried the supplements a few yrs ago for severe tennis elbow but couldn't tolerate bcz of awful awful gas pains but maybe will try again if I get a thumb's up from my urologist for the kidney stones ..
It hurts when I press on the sides and bottom of the joint. The tendon along the top appears undamaged. Most of the swelling subsided 2-3 weeks after the injury. The biggest problem is that the joint will only bend about halfway through it's normal range of motion. It bends fairly smoothly and painlessly until it hits the end. Then it gets stiff and hurts very badly if I try to force it any further. This makes it impossible to play guitar effectively.
RA is a malfunction of the immune system that causes it to attack it's own healthy joint tissue. With proper treatment, chances are your pain will improve.
(freak accident - LONG story involving a cornfield and student driver) The car struck him and he was pinned underneath... he broke both of his hind legs, and suffered major tissue, muscle, and tendon injuries. He had a partial tail amputation, had a toe amputated from his left leg and multipule surgeries involving both an external and then internal metal rod inserted in his right hind leg.
Prolotherapy, also known as Regenerative Injection Technique, in which dextrose is injected every 2-4 weeks into affected joints, ligaments and tendons to stimulate collagen and connective tissue repair. This promotes your body’s own ability to heal chronic injury/damage by initiating a controlled inflammatory response and usually 3-6 treatments are sufficient. You have to be assessed by a qualified MD, to determine if this is suited for you.
Several years ago I got severe tendonitis from excessive computer typing. Basically one summer I had a new database and did hours of data entry with no break. My forearm swelled up and it got so bad from ignoring it that eventually I had to have my steering wheel altered so that it would require only 20% of my strength. It affected my wrist and hands as well. There were only 2 treatments that really helped.
I also notice the range of motion loss when I try to touch my right shoulder with my left hand, but this doesn’t seem as drastic as the loss of motion when trying to reach behind my back. About a month ago, I started taking some extra-strength Glucosamine Chondroitin, two tablets a day, but my arm only got worse during this time. So now I’ve stopped the Glucosamine.
How do I get rid of the chronic stiffness in my foot(right; & hand) ? Doc surmises(diagnosis) inflammed tendons( I ran for <20 years, now ceased). What's the cure for osteoarthritic inflammation, or does everyone cop out with, "there's no cure" & go enjoy life(while others suffer) ?
Then use a good vitamin supplement, preferably something with glucosamine in it. This will help rebuild tendon/joint strength if that's part of the issue. I'm suggesting the low ingredient diet just in case stress is causing a sudden excessive overload of toxins into the bloodstream which is causing the paralysis. I'm not saying this is happening, but it's a good diet, so better safe than sorry!
The aspirin is ok for me to take now that I'm done with treatment. Tylenol didn't seem to help my knees at all when I was on treatment. Now that I'm post treatment, one aspirin at bed time does help a lot and I can go to sleep. I joined a gym a few weeks ago; I've been going to the gym three times a week. I use the machines, and some of the machines involve deep-knee-bend sorts of exercise. I also run on the running-in-place machine for fifteen minutes, three times a week.
Different doctors have different practices. I have a friend who is a NP and she doesn't think narcotics are the best treatment for arthritis or fibromyalgia. There are others who disagree. And there are other things that can be done to manage arthritis, none of which are a cure, but put all together can help significantly. I'm not sure how old you are, how long you've had the arthritis and tendonitis, and who diagnosed it? Also, what things have you already tried to treat it?
At the time all they did was give me shots in the knee of Novacane and Steroids along with some type of Narcotic oral pain killer. At the time the treatment did no good at all to relieve the pain at all. It was only the fact that I was on crutches for several months with no weight on the knee that the pain finally eased to the point I could again resume normal duties. But that was only temproary as over the years I have had to have surgery on my left knee twice because the pain returned.
Really it could be a lot of things, arthritis being a big one, bursitis, and tendonitis. I have all three in my shoulder, no fun at all. I'm sorry they haven't been able to find anything. Sometimes a skilled physical therapist can do some tests and give you a good guess as to what it may be. I know it's very frustrating when they can't figure out what it is. I hope you get some answers!
I have had some trouble over the years with stiff joints in my hands, mostly in winter, but around four months ago I started getting real pain in my hands and fingers followed by them swelling, this then started in my feet and ankles, legs, knees, arms elbows and shoulders and seems to move from one place to the other on a 2-3 day basis, it sometimes even changes from being severe to the point of not being able to use my hands to just a slight pain and completely moved to, say a knee or a foot
I have never heard an intelligent argument that supports the claim that hep c patients should not do everything in their power to protect their livers - whether before treatment, or especially, after failed treatment. Again, if anyone would like to see my labs for themselves, send me a private message with an email address and I will send the pdfs of the actual lab reports. BTW, Vail was great last week.
