Hi,does anyone know what dose of glucosamine & chondroitin i should give my 7yr old border collie,he is getting very stiff in his hind leg when getting up(old injury when he was 1yr old) but once he gets going he is still as fit & active as ever.
Hi...I have a 15 yo mix female dog....She is about 47 lbs and is having hip discomfort......I want to buy a glucosamine supplement to see if help but some of them that I am seeing have a lot side effects....Do you have any suggestions for one that has less side effects?
I have always fed them a really good food with the added glucosamine. I just recently changed foods to one without glucosamine. My lab started limping really bad. I went to human vitamin store and got her some glucosamine supplements. I got the liquid flavored glucosamine and the glucosamine soft flavored chew. I know some cannot swallow pills. My dog eats the chews if I slightly warm them. She will not touch the liquid. I would rather put a pill in some meat or something.
I also heard of extra virgin coconut oil and apple cider vinegar. I am really tempted to mix all these and give it a try. Has anyone tried these? or are there any other natural remedies? My dog has been on metacam but it doesn't work very well, I can tell she is still in pain. My dad keeps telling us to just put her to sleep so she can rest and not be in pain anymore. I want to do everything I can for her before even considering that. Am I wrong?
m taking Ameriden Olive Leaf Extract - 6 caps a day, I was instructed to take only this brand. Plus Glucosamine 1500mg 3 X a day and hyaluronic acid (cushions joint) 100mg 3X a day. I am trying to follow an alkaline pH diet as much as poss - but it's not easy, do drink alkaline water tho'.
I also buy the Pedigree dog food which has one where it has glucosamine in it for healthy joints. Ofcourse ask your vet if Glucosamine would be ok for your dog to take because I don't know if hip arthritis and hip dysplasia is the same thing. I hope and pray your baby gets better.
Its MSM Joint Formula with Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulfates....comes in capsules so open the capsules ...mix the powder with a little water and give with a dropper. thats 300mg. I would divide it out so you are giving 1/3 of the capsule 3x a day. do not attempt to give a whole capsule to a kitty they are large capsules and need to be opened and divided out.

My lab mix, almost 12 years old was diagnosed as diabetic a little over a year ago. She has done really well with the insulin shots but in the past few weeks, she seemed to have a lot of pain in one of her back legs, she also had a droopy eye, but has cataracts and is almost completely blind. The vet couldn't find anything broken, but gave her a pain pill. She seemed to do a little better, but the past few days has slipped again. She whimpers in pain when she has to pull herself up to stand.

If you don't like Gatorade, you might try the packs of 'Emergen-C' powder. Our mix lab is nearly 15 yrs old and limps on her front left paw and her hips give away when she runs. She still eats really well along with drinking water and plays for a short time every few hours with us. She can go outside and do her business but she coughs alot and sometimes brings up alot of yellow bile. Is doesn't squeal in pain and we give her one Iburprophen at bedtime. I have a 6 year old german shepard/chow mix. She is a wonderful dog but has gained a tremendous amount of wheight due to inactivity. For 2 days I have been applying wheat grass powder as a mud pack right onto my entire eye socket area. I purchase the wheat grass powder from Bright Core Nutrition (Sweet Wheat Powder). I mix the wheat grass powder with a few drops of water and mix to create a mud like consistency (make sure it is not too watery...must be a thick mud). I placed the sweet wheat mud onto my my entire eye socket area making sure that the eyelash ducts(top & bottom) are covered. I apply it one eye at a time.

I was wondering if anyone has take a green mix called GREEN VIBRANCE during pregnancy.. its a powder with fruits and veggies.. its very healthy for you! its like 5 servings of veggies in one tsp.. What are your opinions???
