glucosamine

Avatar f tn The supplement is used to help the body make more cartilage, and to reduce pain; in the knee for example. There is controversy as to how helpful this supplement is in improving arthritic knee pain, but some patients do report benefit with long-term use.
Avatar m tn Hi, My Student Industrial Team and I have come up with a device that relieves knee pain for those with runner's knee and the elderly as well. It utilizes pressure plates on the sides of the knee that help to stabilize and decrease the pain. What's your take?
Avatar m tn ) is better than gllucosamine chondroitin for the arthritis in my knee? Just wondering, because I quit taking THAT a long time ago because it wasn't helping accomplish anything except to drain my pocketbook... :( I took it for at least 6 months and I bought a brand recommended at a health foods store, NOT from Wal-Mart. This was probably 2 years ago...

Avatar f tn 51 yo F, diagnosed with Runners Knee, have been in pain, swollen and limping for 7 months. Dr. says to just keep coming back for cortisone, but it really does nothing. I can hardly walk, I am in pain, do I have to live like this? Is my doctor on the right track? Maybe I have meniscus tears??? It affects everything... walking, sleeping, working. Help!! Also, I have had xrays only. Shows no arthritis. In both knees, although one is worse than the other.
15695260 tn?1549593113 I forgot, the most common knee problems for runners are meniscus problems, other connective tissue problems, and tendonitis, not arthritis. With the hips, it's labrum tears and bursitis, again, not arthritis. The body can break down in a lot of different ways.
Avatar n tn I do know the Glucosamine/Chondroitin Tablets Double Strength 3 a day have helped my knee arthritis a little bit. I do see a difference if I stop taking it. I have not had any back pain, but I am having pain down the front of my leg and cannot lift it or the pain goes into my groin. Everyone is telling me that its from my back being unaligned, even if it does not hurt. It is expensive, and its up to you if you want to try it.

Avatar n tn Have been reading other's experiences of cold knees. Mine started with one knee and was kind of an odd sensation in the depth of the knee that kept me awake at night and could not be relieved with painkillers or external warmth like a sock over the knee. It has just got progressively worse over the years and now in two knees and more intense, can't sleep or go back to sleep when woken in the night from it.
1773330 tn?1314171331 i ve been running on threadmill for 2 weeks..i ve got a knee pain...any solution to decrease the pain?
Avatar f tn If the pain comes on bending the knee, then it could be due to Patellofemoral syndrome or runners knee. This happens due to mal-alignment of the knee cap on bending the knee (and hence any imaging study has to be taken with the knee bent), injury to the knee (you may have sustained while playing), flat feet, over tight or over lax muscles around the knee joint.
Avatar m tn he has been diagnosed with knee luxation and has no pain that we are aware of he just wont go up and down 2 stairs or jump anymore..
Avatar f tn I can move them around with my finger. It is right on my knee cap. I have had runners knee and had a few falls on my knee in my life. It does not hurt that bad unless I stand or walk for a while. Im assuming its loose bodies/cartilage but im not sure if you can have those by the surface of your skin above the kneecap? What do you think this is and should I see a doctor for treatment? I hope this makes sense!
Avatar n tn s ability to produce more cartilage which in turn can help make the ankle and knee stronger. It is recommended that you add 1500mg per day for 1-2 months. This may calm the daily stress on the knee and ankle and take away some of the pain you are experiencing. A good anti-inflammatory wouldn't be a bad idea either. Something like Ibuprophen, naproxen ect... I hope I was somewhat helpful. Take care and good luck in the future. Keep us posted and let us know how your doing.
Avatar f tn I have been running 3 miles a day fro 3x a week, until recently because i have been experiencing really aching pain in my knee and if i keep running it becomes really painful like i have torn something, and sometimes my knee gives way too, if i stop running and walk the pain wears off for a while, i have had an 6-8 week rest, but it still hurts when i try to bend my knee, it pulls really tight and hurts, haven`t tried running fully yet, sometimes the knee hurts really bad , it hurts in the back
1239564 tn?1268168890 ( X-rays and MRI ) I would suggest you to continue physical exercise with proper footwear and also limit pressure at your knee. You can go for swimming if you can and also follow up with an orthopedician for proper diagnosis and try to achieve normal BMI. Take care!
Avatar f tn It may be arthritis....in which case many people have luck with Celebrex...however, you'd need a Rx for that......I've had multiple knee surgeries and my Ortho surgeon suggested that I try Osteo BiFlex (glucosamine and chondrointin) which seems to have helped immensely with arthritis pain (yes, I'm only 34 but have had problems with my knee since I was 21 due to a bad surgery the 1st time around)....You can get that at Walmart.....

Avatar f tn She has seen many doctors, has had x-rays, MRIs, and one arthroscopy surgery on her knee. She has soft cartilage in her knees. She tried taking glucosamine but found no relief after 6 months so she stopped taking it. She cries to me almost every night. We are beside ourselves. What will she be like in her 40s,50s,etc? Does anyone have any suggestions as to what it might be?
