glucosamine

Avatar m tn s fish oil with enhanced DHA and EPA (15 grams daily), megadose vitamin E, and megadose glucosamine+chondroitin+MSM daily for anti inflammatory effects for my joint and tendon problems. I am looking to treat trauma of the brachial tendon to treat pain during bicep workouts by using a glucosamine cream. I have heard anecdotally that the cream format increases bio-availability by a staggering amount and that the oral supplement is essentially a snake oil product.
Avatar m tn 5 pound schnauzer and has been limping a bit after exercise. I have started giving her 500 mg of glucosamine a day and wanted to know if this is the right dosage?
1295500 tn?1272459927 Hi, my questions is I have a 9 year old collie, Sheppard, husky mix dog she's probably about 90 lbs now. She seems to be having a lot of problem with her back legs. Some days she seems fine and other days she can barely get up off the floor and when she does her back legs shake. Right now what's happening is she is holding one of her legs up and walking on three legs.
Avatar m tn I know that there is a herbal medicine that has shown effective cure for reducing joint inflammations caused by arthritis. As, I know ginger is the best herbal medicine for arthritis, the use of ginger is unknown to me. If anyone having idea on it, then please suggest me. Thanks a lot!
1310435 tn?1273598077 not that this can replace medical treatment for pain and arthritis, but glucosamine is great for helping with joint pain - it helps lubricate the joints and build new cartlidge. My mother in law swears by it for her arthritis, so it might help you out. Jamieson vitamins (canadian company, but they now sell to the US at www.jamiesondirect.com) makes shellfish free glucosamine products (great if you have an allergy or are worried about contaminants). Hope you get some relief!
Avatar n tn I put her back on a food with glucosamine and she isnt having any problems. I learned my lesson about changing foods. My vet said it was ok to get human vitamins for them. He also said it was ok to feed food with glucosamine plus the vitamins.
Avatar m tn hi have a 14 yr patterdale/lakeland her joints are stiff and shaky i have been giving her adult glucosamine sulphate for a few months now but doesnt seem to be getting any better or worse should i increase the dose
689367 tn?1227469139 I have also been told that glucosamine (Joint supplements) is not good for your eyes and could elevate pressure. How true is that?
Avatar m tn Joint pain is pretty common for Hep C carriers. Is anyone using this supplement to reduce joint pain? Is it effective? Any counter indication? Thanks in advance!
1654177 tn?1319838494 Sorry to hear about the joint problems. Did you achieve SVR? Some days I wake up with very achy joints - yesterday was one of them - but most days I am all right. I am about 8 weeks post tx. Didn't you sky dive on tx?
Avatar f tn I purchased some rather pricey vitamins which have no expiration dates. It's an individualized system where I'm to take Magnesium Glycinate, Glucosamine Sulfat, Joint Support, and CoQ10 30 mg in the morning packets and Magnesium Glycinat, Glucosamine Sulfat, Heart Formula, and Joint Support in the evening packets. Because these were so expensive I'd prefer to not throw them out; however, I've had them for over 3 years now. Since there is no date...can I still use them?
1093971 tn?1257833640 Not all glucosamine products are created equal. In order to best evaluate a product, you need to consider several things. When your healthcare and joint discomfort is at stake, take a moment and consider these criteria: What form is the glucosamine in? What is the total daily dose? Are there any other ingredients? What type is the glucosamine? How pure are the ingredients? If you’re considering taking glucosamine with chondroitin you have another ballgame.
Avatar m tn I take them because of chronic disc problems and a bad knee. You have to take them between meals; if you take them at mealtime it will just act to digest the protein you just ate, whereas for antiinflammatory purposes you want it to digest the crud that forms around joints and muscles that partially cause inflammation. (Very scientific term, crud, eh? There is a word for it, but I forget what it is).
Avatar n tn I recommend that all dogs over the age of 3 who do not have joint problems take a good Glucosamine and Chondroitin combination supplement for joint health. If the pet is less than 3 and has congenital joint disease such as hip dysplasia, luxating patella, and others, to start as soon as they learn of the abnormality.
Avatar n tn I have taken Glucosamine and chondroitin for joint pain and things seem to have improved overnight
398377 tn?1201534325 Can you give your dog that joint medicine that's for people as long as you get the dosage/weight right?
Avatar n tn It is very common for dogs 13 years or so to have degenerative joint disease (arthritis). The parts are just wearing out. The problem can occur anywhere there are joints in the body, which include her spine, hips, knees, ankles, feet, shoulders, elbows, wrists, and even in her tail. Lyme disease can contribute to joint pain and should be checked often and treated if necessary.
Avatar m tn Would a like to try Glucosamine & Chondroitin for my mild hip arthritis. Anyone have good results? Dr prescribed Meloxicam 15mg but am hesitant to start taking it.
Avatar f tn ve been giving him massages, and he loves it, but cries when I pick him up Before I try the Bayer Joint Gel again, is their anything different anyone has had any luck with for arthritis?
Avatar n tn Then, my doctor told me that there are good studies where they verified over two years that Glucosamine and Chondroitin actually reduced arthritic degeneration in joints - I would suggest mix of 3 ingredients - MSM/Glucosamine/Chondroitin just to cover bases - take it faithfully for a year or two and see what happens. Also Yoga is wonderful for joints and many supplements help with swelling.
1110049 tn?1409402144 Glucosamine when taken for a minimum of 3 months as indicated should work well. I have studies that show it works better than most drugs. If you want to read them, I will look for them. My wife takes a combination supplement of MSM, chondroitin and glucosamine and has found it to be very effective. Apple cider vinegar, organic and unfiltered, has proven to be a great remedy for arthritis, as it improves PH balance-more alkaline- and increases digestive function.
Avatar f tn ll definitely be living with the hypothyroidism for the rest of your life. Have you been tested for thyroid antibodies, TPOab and TGab? Elevated levels of one or both of these can indicate Hashi's, which, like RA, is an autoimmune disease. Once you have one, you are more susceptible to developing others.
Avatar f tn There are a number of possible reasons for this to happen, though really only a doctor can diagnose you. I would look into taking glucosamine pills for now to help with joint pain and see if it helps at all. I'd make another doctor's appointment to get your hand looked at and see what they say. It could be from a genetic condition, from trauma, or from a malformation in growth, among some other possible reasons. I hope you can get some answers soon.
1327032 tn?1288840755 Wow I have to say I have been pretty much sx free and today my knee joint started acheing bad! I put a benjay like patch on my knee tonight. I hope that is ok on tx what else can I do to make it feel better?
Avatar f tn Been 10 years now and I never did go back for surgery! I took Glucosamine for many years and amazingly enough no trouble! Only when I stopped taking it when I had the thyroid surgery did the pains come back. I lost a lot of weight and have had no need to go back to the glucosamine since. Having said all that, I learned from my physio at the time that certain activities can cause more pain to knees. For me it is bike riding...so I no longer do that. Walking down steep grades causes pain.
