798555 tn?1292787551 Unfortunately there is no place specifically on MH that I have seen for muscle and tendon issues (there should be). It is amaising how tight muscles or tendonitis in adjacent areas spread and cause pain in other areas - many are unaware of this. This prevents many physically active people from do whatever it is they like doing.
1093971 tn?1257833640 What form is the glucosamine in? What is the total daily dose? Are there any other ingredients? What type is the glucosamine? How pure are the ingredients? If you’re considering taking glucosamine with chondroitin you have another ballgame. Since you didn’t ask about the latter I’ll stick to glucosamine by itself. If you search the Internet you’ll see inconclusive evidence of glucosamine having negative effects on blood sugar.
Avatar f tn I just recently started taking glucosamine and Chondroitin to help my knee recover from a dislocated patella. but for some reason my contact lenses have become very dry is that a side effect of the glucosamine??. Avatar f tn Sounds like you could possible have arthritis or tendonitis. Tendonitis will not show up on an Xray, and im not sure that it will show up on an ultrasound. Just because you see a hand surgeon does not mean you will have surgery. They are just more knowledgeable than most doctors when it comes to the hand, because that is all they work with and what they have studied most of their lives.

Avatar f tn Are you being followed by your PCP for your tendonitis and hypothyroidism? You have several issues going on; so it may be you have different physicians for certain ailments and then maybe a pain management team for your CP issues. How long have you had all of these conditions? I think if you provided some more information, it would be easier for people to address your post.
Avatar f tn These help with pain, but I have developed an itchy, unremitting rash on my right shoulder and should probably stop taking meds to see if any of them are causing it? I tried glucosamine but the pain and cracking remained and sometimes my head hurts on the right side too. I also have Hashimoto’s (TPO antibodies over 1,000) take 75mcg Levoxyl per day. There is a 1.2cm nodule on the right side of thyroid- it was ruled benign after biopsy.
Avatar m tn Hi Della61 - this is long but hope it helps. Several years ago I got severe tendonitis from excessive computer typing. Basically one summer I had a new database and did hours of data entry with no break. My forearm swelled up and it got so bad from ignoring it that eventually I had to have my steering wheel altered so that it would require only 20% of my strength. It affected my wrist and hands as well. There were only 2 treatments that really helped.
Avatar f tn If you wish to try it make sure you are not allergic to shell fish (glucosamine) or MSM (from pine tree bark) or Arnica ( arnica montana flower). You can buy MSM and arnica lotions separately and there is a glucosamine product that is made from corn but it is expensive. I am also taking vitamins which seems to be helping too.

I don't know. Has he been checked for Cruciate ligament tear? If this IS cruciate ligament, surgery -as far as I know- is the best option. Muscle atrophy is often caused by inability to use the leg properly often because of injury or pain etc.
Avatar f tn He suggested I might have diabetes but the blood work showed Vit d deficiency. Can this cause neuropathy? I also have stiff joints and have had calcific tendonitis this year. ( as well as a shoulder specialist or the calcific tendonitis!

Avatar f tn My dog is 12 year old and has arthrits and the vet told me to use glucosamine. In the summer time he does not need it. Now my dog is whimpering and shakeing, when I pet him he stops. This started a couple of days ago. The weather got really cold fast and I just started him back on glucosamine. Does this sound like the arthrits acting up or do I need to worry? How much glucosamine can I give him? I hate when my dog is in pain, I have had him since I was in kindergarden.
Avatar n tn I went to human vitamin store and got her some glucosamine supplements. I got the liquid flavored glucosamine and the glucosamine soft flavored chew. I know some cannot swallow pills. My dog eats the chews if I slightly warm them. She will not touch the liquid. I would rather put a pill in some meat or something. It is much easier for her to take. I put her back on a food with glucosamine and she isnt having any problems. I learned my lesson about changing foods.
Avatar n tn I have heard many different things about glucosamine for dogs . That is is okay for your dogs, and also that it isn't. There can be many benefits to providing supplements for your dog. Avatar m tn s fish oil with enhanced DHA and EPA (15 grams daily), megadose vitamin E, and megadose glucosamine+chondroitin+MSM daily for anti inflammatory effects for my joint and tendon problems.
