What complications from kidney stones would someone expect from this or kidney stones in gereral? I stopped all supplements except glucosamine/condroitin, super B, fish oil and vit D.
Abdominal X-Rays can assess the size and shape of the kidney's and urinary bladder and to see if either contains stones. Stones can act as a nidus for infection and interfere with function.
The other problems can be addressed separately, such as the bladder stones, bladder infections, and the shunt. Bladder issues can be treated with cranberry juice, glucosamine and chondroitin, antibiotics based on culture and sensitivity of urine, Chinese medical formula's: Eight Righteous, and/or: Ba Zheng San, and Western herbal formula's such as:Hydrangea and Eupatorium, among others.
Thyroid medications don't directly lower cholesterol levels. Hypothyroidism does cause high cholesterol, though, so the idea is to get your thyroid hormone levels in line, then your cholesterol would come down on its own. When my thyroid levels are too low, my cholesterol goes high; get my thyroid levels in the top of the range, my cholesterol comes down. Can you please post your latest thyroid blood tests and the reference ranges from your lab report?
While not generally well-known or understood, hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism can cause a variety of muscle or joint-related symptoms. Hypothyroidism can create a variety of muscle and joint-related symptoms. Most commonly, these symptoms are due to swelling of the muscles, or swelling that is pressing on nerves.

About calcium supplements, the blood needs a carefully adjusted amount of sodium, potassium, magnesium and calcium (and a few other minerals) in order for the cells to function and create movement. An example is why you get thirsty after eating a high-salt meal (rich in sodium). The body needs more water to thin out the concentration of sodium. We carry almost 1 kg (= 2+ pounds) of calcium in the bones, but the concentration of calcium in the blood is very low (approx. 10 mg pr dl.
Will work on staying hydrated, stretching (especially the hip and IT band areas) and abstaining from the summer drinks. I'll also see my doctor about kidney stones, Inguinal Hernias, Neuralgia and Neuropathy of lower extremities, and calcification in the epididymis. Luck all. added to "watch' list.
Cervisiae (yeast) FOS (Fructo oligo sacharide) And a little dextrose (food grade) And there is also another problem, I pass my time trying to contact a researcher that can tell me if it is possible that one of her probiotics bacteria has mutated into one that can cure cat kidney cancer or contains a new virus that can cure CRF ?
In fact, when reviewing confirmed food allergies among dogs, corn and rice have the same number of cases (about 2.4% of all allergies). Beef, wheat, and dairy continue to be the leading reasons for food allergies. Could corn eventually rise up higher? Certainly…given it’s prevalence in many diets, it has that potential, but until your pet is proven allergic to corn through elimination diets, I wouldn’t worry about it.
I also have had blood in my urine numerous times (three times visible to the eye, four times found in lab test), along with abdominal pain. Tests (sonogram, cystoscope?) show no signs of kidney stones, kidney damage, or bladder damage. GI doc found polyps in the cecum, evidence of GERD - diagnosed GERD, internal hemorrhoids, and IBS.
However, he said it could NOT be causing me so much pain. He checked out my arm and noticed a hard soft tissue knot, and suggested removing it through surgery and it "might" relieve my pain. So, 3 weeks ago I had the said surgery and it was removed (a hard soft tissue mass about the size of a marble). No, this was not the cyst inside my humerus bone. Anyways, I still have the pain, and it is extremely terrible at night (on a scale of 1 to 10, a 20 at night).
The supplements I've found to be amazingly helpful basically consist of MSM and glucosamine. Within a few days of taking them, my muscle pain decreased and my muscle endurance greatly increased. I'm now able swim and exercise again without the rapid onset of muscle fatigue that I used to experience, and my muscles no longer feel sore for days after exercising.
Cranberry capsules will help. Also you should put him on a glucosamine and Omega 3 fatty acids. Both help the integrity of the bladder. The dose for both is 1000mg of each twice daily. Your vet may have these in stock, otherwise use a human formula. Restore the Integrity by Kan Herbal Company (available online) may help with the urinary incontinence and uti. Also, ask your vet about Proin, or another brand of PPA.
I take 400 IU of D3 daily now. He rechecks my blood, occasionally. He did warn me overdose of it can cause kidney stones. I also take SAMe, for depression. 10 years ago I was on prescribed antidepressants and was able to get off them with SAM-e. I was taking NerveFix for numbness but I'm on a very fixed income and it's been a couple months since I ran out.
Hello, my cat is not sick yet, it is a female of 19yo or more (found in September 1991), and she has 23,3mg/L of CREA (<24), so still not kidney, but my two other cats dyed of kidney with CREA that went up very fast. Veterinary prescribed Fortekor 2.5 one by day for prevention. Her Urea is normal, although she had drink and eat before blood test, it is 0,524g/L. But she drinks a lot: each time she awakes up she wants food and water.
so yes keep feeding the RC urinary diet as long as it is CANNED not the dry ever for a cat with urinary stones (FLUTD) 2.I found the renalzin, here its called Azodyl. its to support healthy kidney function and reduce toxin build up. 3.I don't agree with anyone claiming dry food is fine because they will drink water with it......no cats do NOT drink enough water to compensate for the lack of it in their diet. that is a false information. please read www.catinfo.org 4.
As long as you are not allergic to seafood or shellfish you should consider trying a Glucosamine (and Chrondroiton if you can because they work really well together but can be $$$ AND it is shark cartilage so some may have a moral objection) supplement for your athritis. It usually takes 6 to 8 weeks or more for the Glucosamine supplements to do their job so persist and be patient. These supplements help rebuild the cushioning between joints. Search it.
RDA = 1200 mg for a 24 yr old adult In excess, renal calculi (kidney stones) with specific characteristics can develop, and hypercalcemia with deposits in your joints and soft tissues. Calcium aids bone and tooth formation, maintains blood serum calcium levels, aids blood clotting, aids muscle contraction and relaxation, aids transimission of nerve impulses, and maintains normal heart rhythm. Magnesium: RDA = 250 mg (male), 280 mg (female), for a 24 yr old In excess, can cause magnesemia.
We are able to create an environment that will dissolve struvite crystals and stones and help prevent new Calcium Oxalates from forming . We do this by reducing the amount of minerals in the diet that cause these crystals to form and therefore reduce the amount of minerals being excreted into the bladder where the crystals form. We also dilute the urine by causing the pet to want to drink more and urinate more.".
Keep in mind that grains such as corn, wheat and even rice provide low-cost calories, their high carbohydrate content contributes to obesity, diabetes, kidney stones/struvite crystals, behavior problems, allergies, skin/coat problems and a host of other health problems in cats and dogs. There is a myth that high protein foods are bad for pets and cause kidney problems. First it is important that you give your pet a high quality protein.
nutraceutical supplements called glycosaminoglycans (GAGs), also known as mucopolysaccharides, can be useful. These include glucosamine (both the sulfate and the HCl forms) and chondroitin sulfate, from sources such as chitin (the shells of shellfish), green-lipped mussel (perna canaliculus), and cartilage. Also included in this category are the injectable forms sold under the brand names Adequan in the U.S. and Cartrophen (pentosan polysulfate) elsewhere. Take a look at http://www.
It is tender to the touch in all of those places and also the lower back/kidney area. The urologist was SURE I had a kidney stone, but they did not see one on the IVP. The ultrasound showed a small "flake" in my right kidney though and I pass globs of mucous in my urine (which again I have told everyone and they dismiss it since my urinalysis is ok). I know this is long, but I wanted to share my experiences.
I have lost all of the up and down, ear to ear motion in my neck and have terrible pain in my upper back, shoulders and arms. Like you, my life has changed dramatically. Being fit was number 1 or 2a in my life, but I can no longer do any of that...no yard work...nothing that requires use of my neck, shoulders and arms!!! On top of that, after seeing two other doctors besides my surgeon, I know no more now than I did befroe the surgery. They appear to be afraid to touch me...just humoring me.
I found this site while getting information on my Mini Schnauzer who has kidney failure and is having a bout with Pancreatitis. I will share my story at a later time. I just want you to know that you did everything possible for your Cissy and she is no longer suffering. I had a dog die in my arms 20 years ago and have had to put down 2 since. They are like your babies and they can never be replaced.
glucosamine, chrondroitin and msm to try and help but not so far. Triple therapy turned my body inside out and although I am feeling much better then I did when I was on treatment, these side effects are new to my body. I feel like an 80 year old instead of an active 50 something.. Thank you for any advice or sharing of your post treatment new side effects.
- Fearing the worst, I went to the doctors and told them about the pain, and he ordered an xray for my back and this came back fine. - I've changed my mattress twice now to one that is designed to support the back. - I've paid attention to my pillow, and have changed that too, to one that provides greater support (latex - dunlopillow) - I try to exercise regularly, and pay particular attention to stretching out the back. I believe that the pain must be associated with the way that I sleep.
He cries, whimpers and barks a lot of the time. Although he is on Metacam and Glucosamine/Chondroitin and phenobarbitol I think that his dementia is such that he is an unhappy dog these days. He can barely see, can't hear, and just doesn't enjoy life much anymore. Although physically he might have a little more time left the quality of his life is so minimal that I think it is time to let him go.
No pain in urination, no pain in sex, have been married for many years with one partner, and no urge to go to the bathroom. It happens randomly, and lasts for 3-6 seconds then goes away. It is irritating but not painful. Any thoughts on this issue would be helpful.
