I took birth-control pills so that I can have a normal period but then my Doctor prescribed me to take Glucophage 500 mg twice a day after food but it has side effects like dizziness, nausea, low blood pressure and diarrehea... I went to pharmacies and asked about the medicine ( Glocophage), they say its good but it is not making me feel good. The last pharmacy I went to suggested that I should take Glucophage XR. I still didnt take it, Im still using Glucophage.
When I wa diagnosed as a Type II diabetic 9 years ago I was prescribed Glucophage XR 500 mg once daily. It along with diet and exercise worked well for me in getting my glucose levels down to an acceptable level. The drug is formulated to provide effective glucose reduction over a 24 hours time period. Routine bowel movements or urination should not reduce the drugs effectiveness.
Can GLUCOPHAGE or GLUCOPHAGE XR be used in children?
GLUCOPHAGE has been shown to effectively lower glucose levels in children (ages 10 to 16 years) with type 2 diabetes. GLUCOPHAGE has not been studied in children younger than 10 years old.

Well now they have found out that my thryroid is not working and put me on 100mcg of levothyroxine and 500 mgs of glucophage twice a day. i take 150 mg effexor xr in the morning. now the sweating is embarassing. i live in texas and i refuse to go shoppping or anywhere else unless i have to. my head sweats until my hair is soaking wet. i MUST have all of these medications. my question is : is there anything...herbal or otherwise that i can do or take to help with this.
I started by monitering my diet and still I needed medication, so my doctor prescribed me with Glucophage XR 500mg, 2 pills a day taken at same time.
My doctor put me on Glucophage (Metformin) about a month ago. I started taking 1 500 mg tablet per day and just started taking two. My question is, how long does this take to work. I haven't had my period in six months (definitely not pregnant).

i have done blood test on last month and my dibetologist asked me to take glucophage 500 on morning and januvia-100mg on night.after taking the same for 3 weeks my fasting sugar was under control.i m an IT professional.when i came to my work place ,bcz of work pressure and tensions ,my blood sugar level(fasting ) is getting high.

Since I started seeing my family doctor (an MD) it has been determined that I may have polycystic ovarian syndrome based on my symptoms even though the pelvic ultrasound showed no cystic ovaries and even though my menstrual cycle is regular. They had started treatment with glucophage XR and obviously I could not be treated with BCP because of my history of pulmonary emboli.
Hello~ 33 yr old female w/ PCOS & was diagnosed w/type 2 6 yrs ago. I was not happy & revised my eating habits along w/ taking 500 mg of glucophage 2x daily. It took @ 1 1/2 yr, but I lost 50lbs & my b/s levels dropped to where my dr was took me off glucophage. I did fine & was off glucophage for @ 2 years. I started reverting back to my old eating habits(did manage to stay away from any sugar, my problem was carbs & fast food).
I take daily Glucophage 500 x 2, Januvia 100, Actos 30 (newly prescribed), Lisinopril 40, Amlodopine 10 (newly prescribed), and HCTZ 25. What do you think is the cause of my pain? Thanks.
Advice wanted on I am taking glucophaage white pills 500 mg every day since 2005. In 2009 i upped dose to 4 pills a day so total of 2000 mg a day. My blood sugar is still high. I am getting ready to switch to injecetions with a pen. I want to know how does the switchover work? Just stop taking the pills on day and the next day start injection with a pen? And does one injection from a pen = 500 mg? or how does one calculate the dosage? I am a newbie at this and a bit anxjous about switching over.

I have DM type 2 since 2002 diagnosis, age 55. I started on glucophage and it worked ok at first but now my sugars are around 180 and 220 at times. So i went to see DM doc here in Taiwan and she advised I try combo drugs of Kombigklyze 1000 mg with 500 mg of Sa once a day with supplements of two more glucopahge 500mg pills. seems to be working well,. sugars down to 158 and then 128 today. Anyone else using kombigklyze, called in Chinese as "KON-BING-SA"?
I have been diagnosed diabeted Type II few months back and I am on a dose of two tablets of Glucophage 500. Is this low dose or a very high dose for a new diabetes.
My doc say that I have PCOS, irregular periods ( from childhood), metabolic syndrome and other symptoms. It's seems to be hereditary. She prescribed Glucophage, and I took 2 tab each 500 for a year. A year ago, my doctor gave me Lescol/Fluvastatin to take because I am a high risk for heart disease due to genetics and diabetes. At that time my Lipids were within normal range. After a month, ALT/AST results were very elevated.

I've been taking Metformin 2000mg XR for 3 months and am just now getting side effects like metallic taste and gastro side effects. Same pharmacy, same Sando manufacturer. Is it normal to have side effects after a few months?

My care is currently through my Family Doctor. My last two HA1C tests were 7.2 and 7.4, and creatinine was 1.1. I am taking Metformin XR, 1 gm twice a day, total of 2 grams (four 500 mg tablets). She either has to manage this better or take the Metformin [Glucophage] to help lower her levels. I take 500 mg [1 tablet] of Metformin w/food once daily with zero side effects.
Xanax is RX'd for panic attacks and anxiety disorders. Strange drug to RX an 83 yo.

I am diabetic with 136/166 respectively fasting and PP. I am on medication like Amryl M2 forte, Januvia 50 pre breakfast and Cetrapin XR 500 post dinner. Storevas 10 and cardace 2.5 post dinner. I have been given Nexovas 10 in the morning too. My BP is 120/80 as per latest report. I am from the army Retd and 49 years. My weight is 87 and is on the higher side with hieght at 176. I always took drinks in the evenings controlled. Kindly advice. I am off it since my liver is fatty as per USG.
