Avatar n tn She said that I still not a type 2 diabetic but just to be safe she told me to start taking glucophage once a day for 1 week and increase to 2x a day after that. Then I will repeat my tests in January. Should I start taking the meds as she prescribe. I am not overweight and no one in my family is diabetic.
Avatar n tn m a very avid reader of prescription leaflets as I have to be careful due to the fact that I take a few medications other than Glucophage. I will of course continue to take it and swallow it down very quickly. Regards. Rosymoggs.
Avatar m tn Some diabetic medications are required to be taken with food or they cause digestive issues, while others can be taken in stand alone mode, w/o food. I take Metformin (Glucophage) and it needs food for proper absorption. The flip side of the coin is when the medication is balancing your glucose and which one is doing the morning balancing act. When I change dose, time, or add a medication and/or supplement I contact my pharmacist.
Avatar n tn Can GLUCOPHAGE or GLUCOPHAGE XR be used in children? GLUCOPHAGE has been shown to effectively lower glucose levels in children (ages 10 to 16 years) with type 2 diabetes. GLUCOPHAGE has not been studied in children younger than 10 years old. GLUCOPHAGE has not been studied in combination with other oral glucose-control medicines or insulin in children. If you have any questions about the use of GLUCOPHAGE in children, talk with your doctor or other healthcare provider.

Avatar n tn scolded me for stopping the med, and insists that I continue to give him Glucophage. The Dr. says that the Glucophage will serve as an appetite suppresant as well as help control the blood sugars. Have you ever heard of other children being prescribed Glucophage in addition to other insulin? What are the facts on Glucophage and juveniles?

Avatar n tn I JUST WENT TO A NEW ENDOCRINOLOGIST- HE WANTS ME TO GO ON GLUCOPHAGE SO I DON'T NEED MORE INSULIN AND TO PREVENT ME FROM GAINING WEIGHT. I THOUGHT THAT GLUCOPHAGE WORKS ON YOUR LIVER AND PREVENTS IT FROM RELEASING GLYCOGEN-WOULDN'T THAT BE DANGEROUS FOR ME IF I NEEDED THE GLYCOGEN DURING A POTENTIALLY BAD EPSIODE OF HYPOGLYCEMIA? I HAVE ALSO BEEN TAKING AN ACE INHIBITOR FOR ABOUT 7 YEARS (WITHOUT PROBLEMS) TO PREVENT RENAL HYPERTENSION (I HAVE HAD TYPE 1 FOR 23 YEARS) AND THE DR.
Avatar n tn Also sometimes, the medication does take at least 2 weeks for the body to get use to it. if side effects persist for more than 2 weeks, should talk to your health care provider about it as you might not be able to tolerate it.
Avatar f tn Hi Heather! I also have PCOS and have been trying to have a baby for about 14 mos. I started seeing a fertility doctor and he did a laproscopic surgery where he found many follicles on my ovaries and also removed 2 cysts. I felt much better. The surgery also allowed him to check for any other problems, such as blocked tubes, endometriosis.... Have you had ANY blood work done yet or been put on any meds? I am on glucophage for the PCOS. I am also starting endometrium to help regulate my periods.

182352 tn?1231183410 my OBGYN just prescribed prometrium for low progestrone, and metformin ( the generic form of glucophage), due to my body not processing sugar properly. the prometrium bottle says DO NOT TAKE WHILE PREGNANT. i have read up on this & it seems to be a very common & helpful drug to take during early pregnancy. has anyone taken both, or either 1 alone while pregnant? my 1st pregnancy was a breeze & i hate taking anything during pregnancy. thanks so much.

1546050 tn?1293688410 A week ago I went to the doctor due to experiencing menstrual cramps but no getting my period. (Just for background - I only menstruate when I am on the pill and I am currently not on it - therefore I do not menstruate without medication). She did a standard sugar test which came out as 4.4. She then decided that I must be insulin resistant and put me on Glucophage 1 in the evening without even doing any tests or telling me anything about an eating plan etc.
Avatar m tn Your husband seems to be experiencing hypoglycemia and his doctor should be notified immediately.
Avatar n tn They worked great, I never had a problem, then last month my glucophage was substituted with Metformin ER 500mg, same dosages, I noticed changes after about a week, my sugar was higher then it was on average with Glucophage, so I mentioned it to my mom, we kept monitering it, after about a month of being on it my blood sugar level was getting pretty high..
Avatar f tn I started taking 1 500 mg tablet per day and just started taking two. My question is, how long does this take to work. I haven't had my period in six months (definitely not pregnant). Thanks!
Avatar f tn Any feedback on this would be much appreciated. Ive been on glucophage and femara and ttc for 12 months with no luck. My period was due 4 days ago but instead I had a reddish/brown light discharge The day my period was due . This lasted a day or so and now have a very light creamish discharge for last 2 days. No sign of my period. I haven't done a test this month as I really don't want to be looking at another negative.
Avatar f tn Are you taking some sort of oral medication liike Metformin (Glucophage) to help lower your glucose? What about injectable insulin? How often to do you perform a home glucose test? And when? Wait to see your Taxoplasmosis results. Some symptoms do apply but your PCP will know better. Without knowing what your PCP said about your circulation issues its hard to make a comment.
Avatar m tn She either has to manage this better or take the Metformin [Glucophage] to help lower her levels. I take 500 mg [1 tablet] of Metformin w/food once daily with zero side effects. Xanax is RX'd for panic attacks and anxiety disorders. Strange drug to RX an 83 yo. 3. Change, even for the better, is hard for a lot of people to accept. We don't know your mother so little advice can be given except keep trying.
