Avatar f tn Hello, Most women with PCOS don't ovulate and thus cannot become pregnant. So the first treatment option for infertility is usually the administration of drugs to induce ovulation like Clomid. Secondly Glucophage or Metformin is an insulin-sensitizing agent that is sometimes used in conjunction with Clomid. Other than that, Injectable HCG, Hmg, FSH, GnRH and assisted reproduction like IUI, IVF, GIFT AND ICSI may also be used.
256553 tn?1258883918 If you go to any website on infertility or pcos it will discuss the use of Metformin. I have been on Metformin for pcos and have been on it for one year. It has corrected my FSH & LH levels and helped me to lose 25 lbs without hardly trying. The Metformin sensitizes the cells to insulin therefore lowering the body's production of insulin, which also then reduces androgen production. Once this happens, ovulation often resumes. I beleive that this is particular with pcos conditions.

Avatar f tn I have been on the pill since I was 13 for irregularity reasons at first and then later on as a contraceptive. After so many years of being on birth control, and mind you I have never been regular without it, am I going to be able to get pregnant? I stopped taking it a little over a month ago, my husband and I really want a baby. Is there anything I can do to help? Are there any medications that help regularity without making you infertile?

Avatar f tn I am due to return to my dr tomorrow to see what the next step is. My dr is suppose to be one of the best infertility drs for PCOS in my area of the country (Texas) and has me on glucophage for the insulin resistance associated with PCOS and also parlodel and dexamethasone. Your dr should be monitoring your progesterone level during your clomid cycles and provide a supplement to supply you with progesterone if your levels are low.
Avatar n tn Doctor discussed this with my husband(who is a doctor as well) was present at the time of the operation. She removed my ovary and sent for histopath. Later it was found that it was a benign cystic teratoma, on opening, the cyst thick sebaceous material with tuff of hair was seen. My concern are: 1. Will i get pregnant easily for my second child? 2. Is my other ovary in danger of getting a cyst as well? So for that reason its safer that I should get pregnant right away?
Avatar n tn Is your son overweight? If so, his doctor may be trying to suppress his appetite in order to help him lower his weight. If he is overweight even though a type 1 diabetic, then some type 2 treatment may be necessary in addition to his insulin, for fat cells tend to cause insulin resistance problems. I am just guessing, based on what you wrote.
