Avatar f tn Have you had ANY blood work done yet or been put on any meds? I am on glucophage for the PCOS. I am also starting endometrium to help regulate my periods. I have not had a normal period since March 07. I have taken provera before, but never endometrium. I don't really know about meds to take to get rid of cysts or anything. I used to take Ibuprofen for the pain. You really should see Reproductive Endocrinologist. They are very knowledgeable in PCOS and how to treat it.
Avatar n tn (3) Glucophage appears to do the same for non-obese PCOS women, according to a study from the University of Medical Sciences in Poznan, Poland. Avatar f tn Metformin (aka Glucophage) is a diabetic drug to treat diabetes. It is also used to treat PCOS. If you have neither why on earth is he having you take it?

Avatar f tn I have PCOS, and have been tryingt o get pregnant 6 months with no luck. My blood work was + for PCOS, but I had a abdominal-transvaginal ultrasound and there were no cysts. Anyone ever had this happen to them? My Dr. says we're going to treat my case as PCOS. I've been on Clomid for 2 months now (50mg) and if nothing this month, I will go up to 100mg. I had no problems getting pregnant with my 16-month-old son. My progesterone level was pretty much non-existant last time.
1546050 tn?1293688410 Metformin is quite a standard treatment for PCOS. If this is the reason you were given metformin I think it would be a good idea to give it a go for at least a few months. I personally know a few women who had great success with regulating their periods on metformin (1 got pregnant on it). Hope this helps.

256553 tn?1258883918 Hi, My first question is do you have pcos? If you go to any website on infertility or pcos it will discuss the use of Metformin. I have been on Metformin for pcos and have been on it for one year. It has corrected my FSH & LH levels and helped me to lose 25 lbs without hardly trying. The Metformin sensitizes the cells to insulin therefore lowering the body's production of insulin, which also then reduces androgen production. Once this happens, ovulation often resumes.
Avatar f tn re going to injectibles. In addition to the ovulation drugs their are drugs to help with the PCOS, Metformin, Glucophage, Fortamet. You may already be on one of these, I don't know but usually they will increase your dosage when you start ttc. These also help to lose weight as well as keep the cysts under control.

623922 tn?1223406991 With PCOS you can usually actually feel yourself ovulating, both me and a workmate both felt it, it was like minor tweaking and maybe small amounts of cramping. I could time when I was going to get my period by that. My blood sugars are pretty high, so I'm trying to get onto Glucophage, in hopes it helps my pcos and my blood sugars. If I knew about my diagnosis earlier, I could have gotten pregnant! I've also gained around 40lbs and I don't know why, my stomach is stapled!
Avatar f tn Try conceiving between 8-21 days of your cycle as it is fertile period. You may also try a pelvic laparoscopy to treat anovualtion if you don`t ovulate. Glucophage affects the action of insulin and is useful in reducing a number of the symptoms and complications of PCOS and also useful in the management of irregular periods, ovulation induction, weight loss, prevention of type 2 diabetes, and prevention of gestational diabetes mellitus in women with PCOS.
557911 tn?1225980644 They treat it with diabetic drugs like glucophage or metphormin. In some cases they will do surgery to unblock your ovaries. There are quite a few women who probably have it on this site, if you want to ask anymore questions. I hope I helped but didn't scare you, and if I did I do appologize.
Avatar f tn What are the odds of getting pregnant when one suffers from pcos??? and how will you know when is the right time to have sex, since i dont have regular periods??? plz plz help somebody?????
Avatar f tn I do have other health issues, but the PCOS is the very first thing I was dx with. I have tried to treat all the health issues over the years and am still not well. I was treated with Glucophage and the first time I used it had a great reaction from it. Lost a lot of weight and felt better. I was taken off of it and gained all the weight back. Second time I went on it I had a bad reaction and had to go off of it. That was about 20 or so years ago.
Avatar f tn HI, Weight loss, glucophage and induction of ovulation with drugs like femera can give good results in women with PCOS. However if you do not want to raise hopes too much, you can wait another 7 days and then take a home pregnancy test. For a better confirmation blood test for beta HCG can be done. Hope this helps. The answer is based on information provided. Exact advice is not possible without a proper examination and investigations. You are requested to consult your Doctor.
Avatar f tn i am on clomid too cos of pcos. I have been on rounds of clomid, never got to work for me but there are lots of women on here that got there BFP using clomid. So don't give up, who knows, it might work for u.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with PCOS early this year and started taking Glucophage in January of February. Like you, I started on 500mg once daily, and quickly increased it to 500mg twice daily. I had a period within a couple of months, but by July of August I had become more regular than ever. I now have a period every 5 weeks without fail. I hope that answers your question!
Avatar f tn I have since been dianosed with PCOS and undergoing treatment with glucophage/metformin. I am also being treated for hypertension. Since the treatment for the PCOS began, my breakouts with the Scleritis have decreased. However, when I'm not taking the metformin, I almost immediately get scleritis attacks. Does anyone know if there is a connection with the two? Also is there a way to remove the swelling in the white of my eye? it is lingering longer than usual and my vision is affected.
1266083 tn?1358564062 I have PCOS and have been ttc. I would like to do this as naturally as possible without going to the doc. Any recommendation on what I can do to help bost the fertility. I have some Angus Castus (Spelling) and I haven't started taking it yet because I haven't heard of it's affects and I want to see what other people think before I hopen the bottle. Thanks!
Avatar m tn With all due respect Msniki412, Metformin"glucophage" is not always the answer and nor does it always help. The question is why did an otherwise healthy women get pcos? and why if she already eats healthy and exercizes normally should she need a medication like glucophage for border line insuline resistance/insuline resistance aka diabetes? why would a healthy woman who like i said before eats well, excersizes routinely be subject to pcos in the first place?
Avatar f tn I'm really not sure what to do, what to try, who to talk to, what to say... I was diagnosed with PCOS about a year ago, and none of my nurses told me until I looked on the paper and saw for myself.... The stuff they tell you and the stuff you read is more than discouraging about Conceiving and losing weight and being normal. I'm close to giving up.
