I went to pharmacies and asked about the medicine ( Glocophage), they say its good but it is not making me feel good. The last pharmacy I went to suggested that I should take Glucophage XR. I still didnt take it, Im still using Glucophage.

Avatar n tn When I wa diagnosed as a Type II diabetic 9 years ago I was prescribed Glucophage XR 500 mg once daily. It along with diet and exercise worked well for me in getting my glucose levels down to an acceptable level. The drug is formulated to provide effective glucose reduction over a 24 hours time period. Routine bowel movements or urination should not reduce the drugs effectiveness.

Avatar n tn I JUST WENT TO A NEW ENDOCRINOLOGIST- HE WANTS ME TO GO ON GLUCOPHAGE SO I DON'T NEED MORE INSULIN AND TO PREVENT ME FROM GAINING WEIGHT. I THOUGHT THAT GLUCOPHAGE WORKS ON YOUR LIVER AND PREVENTS IT FROM RELEASING GLYCOGEN-WOULDN'T THAT BE DANGEROUS FOR ME IF I NEEDED THE GLYCOGEN DURING A POTENTIALLY BAD EPSIODE OF HYPOGLYCEMIA? I HAVE ALSO BEEN TAKING AN ACE INHIBITOR FOR ABOUT 7 YEARS (WITHOUT PROBLEMS) TO PREVENT RENAL HYPERTENSION (I HAVE HAD TYPE 1 FOR 23 YEARS) AND THE DR.

Avatar f tn In addition he was also given medication for Diabetes Type II, metformin 850 mg, glipizide 5mg, lisinopril 5 mg, simvastatin 20mg, Asprin 81 mg, Ranitidine 150 mg. Additionally he was also prescribed Naproxen 500mg and Alumina Magnesia 360 ml. I think this is too much medication. Any suggestions? The pain meds are for arthritic hip and knee and rotator cuff surgery.
Avatar m tn She either has to manage this better or take the Metformin [Glucophage] to help lower her levels. I take 500 mg [1 tablet] of Metformin w/food once daily with zero side effects. Xanax is RX'd for panic attacks and anxiety disorders. Strange drug to RX an 83 yo. 3. Change, even for the better, is hard for a lot of people to accept. We don't know your mother so little advice can be given except keep trying.

Avatar m tn I am currently taking 850 mg of Gabapentin - 700 mg at bedtime and 150 mg at approximately 5:00 AM. I was originally prescribed it to help me with sleep during a taper off of Ativan, but it is causing me more harm than good at this point and I'm interested in at least reducing my amount before resuming an Ativan taper. I am currently taking .8 mg of Ativan, spread out in four doses across the day.

Avatar n tn Can GLUCOPHAGE or GLUCOPHAGE XR be used in children? GLUCOPHAGE has been shown to effectively lower glucose levels in children (ages 10 to 16 years) with type 2 diabetes. GLUCOPHAGE has not been studied in children younger than 10 years old. GLUCOPHAGE has not been studied in combination with other oral glucose-control medicines or insulin in children. If you have any questions about the use of GLUCOPHAGE in children, talk with your doctor or other healthcare provider.
