I took birth-control pills so that I can have a normal period but then my Doctor prescribed me to take Glucophage 500 mg twice a day after food but it has side effects like dizziness, nausea, low blood pressure and diarrehea... I went to pharmacies and asked about the medicine ( Glocophage), they say its good but it is not making me feel good. The last pharmacy I went to suggested that I should take Glucophage XR. I still didnt take it, Im still using Glucophage.

My doctor put me on Glucophage (Metformin) about a month ago. I started taking 1 500 mg tablet per day and just started taking two. My question is, how long does this take to work. I haven't had my period in six months (definitely not pregnant). Thanks!

When I wa diagnosed as a Type II diabetic 9 years ago I was prescribed Glucophage XR 500 mg once daily. It along with diet and exercise worked well for me in getting my glucose levels down to an acceptable level. The drug is formulated to provide effective glucose reduction over a 24 hours time period. Routine bowel movements or urination should not reduce the drugs effectiveness.

I also have pco and have been metformin 1000 mg a day but it made me feel very sick all the time so I am now on the metformin extened release pills and they are 10 times better and do not have all the side effects of the regular metformin so you may want to talk to your doctor and see if he can give you those.

my doctor diagnosed that i am suffering from PCOS, which is very heartbreaking news for me, as i am trying to get pregnant since last year. she prescribed me glucophage 500 mg twice a day for six months. nowadays i am on glucophage and still unsuccessful to concieve. what should i do? i really need your help.

She either has to manage this better or take the Metformin [Glucophage] to help lower her levels. I take 500 mg [1 tablet] of Metformin w/food once daily with zero side effects. Xanax is RX'd for panic attacks and anxiety disorders. Strange drug to RX an 83 yo. 3. Change, even for the better, is hard for a lot of people to accept. We don't know your mother so little advice can be given except keep trying.

Hello~ 33 yr old female w/ PCOS & was diagnosed w/type 2 6 yrs ago. I was not happy & revised my eating habits along w/ taking 500 mg of glucophage 2x daily. It took @ 1 1/2 yr, but I lost 50lbs & my b/s levels dropped to where my dr was took me off glucophage. I did fine & was off glucophage for @ 2 years. I started reverting back to my old eating habits(did manage to stay away from any sugar, my problem was carbs & fast food).

So i went to see DM doc here in Taiwan and she advised I try combo drugs of Kombigklyze 1000 mg with 500 mg of Sa once a day with supplements of two more glucopahge 500mg pills. seems to be working well,. sugars down to 158 and then 128 today. Anyone else using kombigklyze, called in Chinese as "KON-BING-SA"?

Advice wanted on I am taking glucophaage white pills 500 mg every day since 2005. In 2009 i upped dose to 4 pills a day so total of 2000 mg a day. My blood sugar is still high. I am getting ready to switch to injecetions with a pen. I want to know how does the switchover work? Just stop taking the pills on day and the next day start injection with a pen? And does one injection from a pen = 500 mg? or how does one calculate the dosage? I am a newbie at this and a bit anxjous about switching over.

Diovan (Valsartan) is available in different doses (20 mg, 40 mg, etc.), so maybe you could take a lower dose on the day you'll be using Viagra. Or possibly just skip your usual dose that day, then resume the next. However, your Dr. may not agree. I think the best strategy is to ask your Dr. about using these 2 drugs at the same time. I would think if you just took a lower dose on the day you use Viagra might be acceptable...

Details are as follows. Insulin= Mixard (30/70) - dosage- morning 40 and evening 25.along with Glucophage 1000 mg one each morning and evening. After this treatment my sugar level is 120 in fasting and 170 after taking food(2 hours after food) and my randam sugar is 175.My (HbA1c)(three months test is 7.9. I've been on Fish, Flax & Borage Oil for years. 3000 mg,morning & three thousand at night. My daughers put me on them. A eye doctor and my kidney doctor. I haven't taken them in about 7 days due to a small procedure I'm having. A nurse once told me that when I'm going to have a minor procedue or maor, stop taking 7 days before because it makes your blood thin.

I used birth control pills for a year of which i had a regular cycle. I stopped using the pills after i got married and my cycle became very irregular. Since then, i've been unable to conceive. Any time my menstrual cycle becomes regular and i have sexual intercourse with my husband,menses ceases for months until i take some drugs that would be prescribed by the doctor.

I too am on Metformin, I started at 1000 mg daily and now I am on 15000. Haven't really regulated my periods yet. But i have lost about 36 pounds since May 5. Which is wonderful! I am TTC, so hopefully this will work!!! Good luck ladies!!!!
