In addition, I took Glucophage [Metformin] for 8 years. I used several different generic brands, none had an odor. I checked one made by Aurobindo Pharma, USA. The tablets outer has a coating, no smell. I split it open, it does not have an odor of any sorts.
I do suggest you consult with your pharmacist. IMO, I wouldn't swallow anything that had a moldy odor unless several Pharmacist said it was OK to do so. Have him/her examine what you have on hand.

I have hypothryoid disease ( all new to me ) and my doctor has perscribed glucophage to me to helped with irreglar menstral cycles.
I took birth-control pills so that I can have a normal period but then my Doctor prescribed me to take Glucophage 500 mg twice a day after food but it has side effects like dizziness, nausea, low blood pressure and diarrehea... I went to pharmacies and asked about the medicine ( Glocophage), they say its good but it is not making me feel good. The last pharmacy I went to suggested that I should take Glucophage XR. I still didnt take it, Im still using Glucophage.

I started by monitering my diet and still I needed medication, so my doctor prescribed me with Glucophage XR 500mg, 2 pills a day taken at same time.
She said that I still not a type 2 diabetic but just to be safe she told me to start taking glucophage once a day for 1 week and increase to 2x a day after that. Then I will repeat my tests in January. Should I start taking the meds as she prescribe. I am not overweight and no one in my family is diabetic.

Hello~ 33 yr old female w/ PCOS & was diagnosed w/type 2 6 yrs ago. I was not happy & revised my eating habits along w/ taking 500 mg of glucophage 2x daily. It took @ 1 1/2 yr, but I lost 50lbs & my b/s levels dropped to where my dr was took me off glucophage. I did fine & was off glucophage for @ 2 years. I started reverting back to my old eating habits(did manage to stay away from any sugar, my problem was carbs & fast food).

I was diagnosed with PCOS early this year and started taking Glucophage in January of February. Like you, I started on 500mg once daily, and quickly increased it to 500mg twice daily. I had a period within a couple of months, but by July of August I had become more regular than ever. I now have a period every 5 weeks without fail. I hope that answers your question!
I just called the accredited clinic of the Spanish consulate here in Manila where the medical examination is done for getting working visa in Spain. They told me that they dont issue 'fit to travel' certificate with conditions reactive in hepa b either inactive or active state. They require waiver from the company so that you'll get the 'fit to travel' certificate from the clinic. Sad because i have to decline the opportunity working in Spain for just months.
