glucophage

182352 tn?1231183410 hi everyone. i am 5 wks pregnant & my OBGYN just prescribed prometrium for low progestrone, and metformin ( the generic form of glucophage), due to my body not processing sugar properly. the prometrium bottle says DO NOT TAKE WHILE PREGNANT. i have read up on this & it seems to be a very common & helpful drug to take during early pregnancy. has anyone taken both, or either 1 alone while pregnant? my 1st pregnancy was a breeze & i hate taking anything during pregnancy.
Avatar n tn (3) Glucophage appears to do the same for non-obese PCOS women, according to a study from the University of Medical Sciences in Poznan, Poland. Thirty nine PCOS women were given Glucophage for 12 weeks. They had improvements in insulin, testosterone, hirsutism and acne. (4) PREVENTION OR DELAY OF ONSET OF DIABETES. Glucophage may help to prevent diabetes, according to a study at George Washington University.
Avatar n tn Hardly. Symptoms DO NOT mean a pregnancy is viable--in fact symptoms mean nothing at all. It's the reaction a female has to the pregnancy, nothing more. I've been pregnant twice, miscarried one. My first with my daughter I had nausea/vomiting, sore breasts and fatigue. My second I had BAD fatigue and nausea/vomiting--this is the one I lost. They 'claim' that nausea/vomiting indicates a strong pregnancy and this is untrue.
Avatar n tn In addition, I took Glucophage [Metformin] for 8 years. I used several different generic brands, none had an odor. I checked one made by Aurobindo Pharma, USA. The tablets outer has a coating, no smell. I split it open, it does not have an odor of any sorts. I do suggest you consult with your pharmacist. IMO, I wouldn't swallow anything that had a moldy odor unless several Pharmacist said it was OK to do so. Have him/her examine what you have on hand.
20220090 tn?1492761471 I had my last last cycle 20 Feb so now more than a month late. The Gynecologist increased my glucophage to 850mg 1 X a day. My abdominal area gets pain that comes and goes. Also pain in both ovaries from time to time and my stomach feels hard. I can only see my Doctor on Wednesday for ultrasound. Did 2 X pregnancy test but negative. Did anyone experience similar symptoms?
Avatar n tn Can GLUCOPHAGE or GLUCOPHAGE XR be used in children? GLUCOPHAGE has been shown to effectively lower glucose levels in children (ages 10 to 16 years) with type 2 diabetes. GLUCOPHAGE has not been studied in children younger than 10 years old. GLUCOPHAGE has not been studied in combination with other oral glucose-control medicines or insulin in children. If you have any questions about the use of GLUCOPHAGE in children, talk with your doctor or other healthcare provider.
Avatar n tn HI, There is no specific vitamin as a treatment for PCOS. However if you are trying for a natural pregnancy then folic acid can be taken. Weight loss gives dramatic results in women who are obese. Consult a gynaecologist for an evaluation. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn Any feedback on this would be much appreciated. Ive been on glucophage and femara and ttc for 12 months with no luck. My period was due 4 days ago but instead I had a reddish/brown light discharge The day my period was due . This lasted a day or so and now have a very light creamish discharge for last 2 days. No sign of my period. I haven't done a test this month as I really don't want to be looking at another negative.
Avatar f tn Hi! If diagnosed with high insulin, is it safe to medicate like taking glucophage? Is it harmful to the liver?
Avatar f tn I have hypothryoid disease ( all new to me ) and my doctor has perscribed glucophage to me to helped with irreglar menstral cycles.
1408770 tn?1283213203 So it is still a possibility. I have an appointment on the 28th of September, that was the soonest I could get in because I had to get a new OBGYN. But while I'm waiting I cant help but try and think of other things it could be. And Ovarian Cyst seem like it could also be the cause of my situation. I have symptoms like nausea, sleepiness, bloating, full feeling. or pressure in my lower abdomen.
Avatar f tn I took birth-control pills so that I can have a normal period but then my Doctor prescribed me to take Glucophage 500 mg twice a day after food but it has side effects like dizziness, nausea, low blood pressure and diarrehea... I went to pharmacies and asked about the medicine ( Glocophage), they say its good but it is not making me feel good. The last pharmacy I went to suggested that I should take Glucophage XR. I still didnt take it, Im still using Glucophage.
1546050 tn?1293688410 She then decided that I must be insulin resistant and put me on Glucophage 1 in the evening without even doing any tests or telling me anything about an eating plan etc. I am now following a low GI eating plan I got on the internet. My question is - should I be on Glucophage if I was not properly tested for insulin resistance and if my sugar test came out within normal range?
Avatar n tn I started by monitering my diet and still I needed medication, so my doctor prescribed me with Glucophage XR 500mg, 2 pills a day taken at same time.
Avatar n tn She said that I still not a type 2 diabetic but just to be safe she told me to start taking glucophage once a day for 1 week and increase to 2x a day after that. Then I will repeat my tests in January. Should I start taking the meds as she prescribe. I am not overweight and no one in my family is diabetic.
Avatar f tn i was expecting my periods then in June and until now no sign of periods. I have mild thigh pain and heaviness in my stomach and light stomach pain..is it possible that I am pregnant..My doctor told me that if I don't get my periods until 12th , she will go for a pregnancy test. I am really scared thinking if can I get pregnant with these hormonal imbalances as I really need a baby.please advice .
Avatar m tn I've been on glucophage since the beginning (10 years) , with the exception of a short and nearly fatal foray into Avandia use. I've had all those symptoms for ten years. I also have passed out several times from low blood sugar, something the doctors say doesn't happen on this medication. Ha, ha. Tell that to the Saturday morning crowd at Denny's. I have been told I am an exception and, normally, the symptoms are supposed to fade after a few months.
Avatar f tn Is there any problem in having chocolates during pregnancy? Im 22 weeks and 4 days, i crave for chocolates but im worried if it will b a problem for my little one..
1266083 tn?1358564062 Okay, here's the deal. I started having the "montly visit" when I was 11. For 2 years, it was irregular and when I was 13, it just STOPPED all together. I had no period for about 3 years when a doctor FINALLY diagnosed me with PCOS at the age of 16, and did a "vaginal probe" (I hate the sound of that word, haha) and found "hundreds of little cysts" on my ovaries. Well, I was then put on Yasmin and Glucophage.
Avatar n tn I have pain in the very upper back of my legs and the inside of my legs where the thigh meets the body. It began a few weeks ago. I am 64 and have been a type 2 diabetic for 5 years. I also have been treated for hypertension and high cholesterol levels since the age of 50. I take daily Glucophage 500 x 2, Januvia 100, Actos 30 (newly prescribed), Lisinopril 40, Amlodopine 10 (newly prescribed), and HCTZ 25. What do you think is the cause of my pain? Thanks.
Avatar n tn Hello~ 33 yr old female w/ PCOS & was diagnosed w/type 2 6 yrs ago. I was not happy & revised my eating habits along w/ taking 500 mg of glucophage 2x daily. It took @ 1 1/2 yr, but I lost 50lbs & my b/s levels dropped to where my dr was took me off glucophage. I did fine & was off glucophage for @ 2 years. I started reverting back to my old eating habits(did manage to stay away from any sugar, my problem was carbs & fast food).
Avatar n tn I JUST WENT TO A NEW ENDOCRINOLOGIST- HE WANTS ME TO GO ON GLUCOPHAGE SO I DON'T NEED MORE INSULIN AND TO PREVENT ME FROM GAINING WEIGHT. I THOUGHT THAT GLUCOPHAGE WORKS ON YOUR LIVER AND PREVENTS IT FROM RELEASING GLYCOGEN-WOULDN'T THAT BE DANGEROUS FOR ME IF I NEEDED THE GLYCOGEN DURING A POTENTIALLY BAD EPSIODE OF HYPOGLYCEMIA? I HAVE ALSO BEEN TAKING AN ACE INHIBITOR FOR ABOUT 7 YEARS (WITHOUT PROBLEMS) TO PREVENT RENAL HYPERTENSION (I HAVE HAD TYPE 1 FOR 23 YEARS) AND THE DR.
Avatar f tn In Januray my cycle was fine (usually lasts 4 days) and then in February, I started seeing lighter menstruation. In March, it skipped. In April, I spotted with dark brown blood (looked like old blood) for one or two days. Through all of this, I had no symptoms of a cycle. This month, I started bleeding on May 11th with the bright red and mucus spotting. It would stop for two days and then I would see my cycle only when I went to the restroom. It looks as if it is trying to come down.
