Avatar m tn Two weeks ago I got real sick again, bloodwork confirmed high level of lactic acid. The GI requested more bloodwork , I am waiting for the results and to hear from the GI. What questions should I be prepared to ask the doctor.
Avatar m tn if not etv is not strong enough for you the synthoms are too many and you should check immediately if it is lactic acidosis by blood test, you might find info on lactic acidosis on hiv websites too since they have this risk too.if possible mke blood test monday too with doc visit.
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever experienced, or a loved one experienced cirrhosis and lactic acidosis?
Avatar n tn My doc say that I have PCOS, irregular periods ( from childhood), metabolic syndrome and other symptoms. It's seems to be hereditary. She prescribed Glucophage, and I took 2 tab each 500 for a year. Did not cure me, infact I felt worst. I also have high cholesterol, but don't eat meat and jog 3 miles almost 5 times a week. I am prediabetic and very likely to get heart disease stroke and other fatal complications as I grow older. Please advise me how to cure PCOS.
Avatar m tn Just a rise of lactic acid levels may not signify lactic acidosis, there needs to be a change in the acid and other electrolyte levels in the body. On the other hand, diagnosing an infants seizures may require some more effort. This may include, history good examination and tests. Hope this helped. Let us know if there is some other questions that you may have. Best regards.
1455850 tn?1285347092 I have Merrf A8344G Mitochondrial Disease and have a lactic acidosis issues in blood tests. Are things like the Atkins Advantage Protein Shakes that are based on concentrated Milk Protiens harmful in that they negatively affect the Lactic Acidosis issue? Avatar n tn [17] The most serious potential side effect of metformin use is lactic acidosis; this complication is very rare, and the vast majority of these cases seem to be related to comorbid conditions, such as impaired liver or kidney function, rather than to the metformin itself.[52] Metformin has also been reported to decrease the blood levels of thyroid-stimulating hormone in people with hypothyroidism,[53] and, in men, testosterone.
Avatar m tn no it is not but on cirrhosis patients with low liver function and especially on uncompensated cirrhosis severe lactic acidosis can develop and nausea might be lactic acidosis but it takes time to develop so 99% is not related to entecavir be sure your doctor has planned regular lactic acidosis blood tests at least the first years because lactic acidosis can reach fatal levels in the blood with time, so blood tests for this are very important i am also on cirrhosis and on etv 0.
Avatar m tn My fasting blood sugar now is 75 to 80 and before bed around 90 to 100 due to exercising everyday and taking the medication and strict diet. I will have blood work in April and hopefully my doctor will let me stay off the med for good.

Avatar f tn I take metformin for insulin resistance and ovarian cysts. My doctor started me on 500 mg, taken with dinner and with in the first few days I had loose bowels. That went away and as long as I stay on my high fiber low glycemic diet I have no problems. My doctor started me on a low dose so that my body could get use to it. I have heard blogs from other women that were put on a high dose from the very beginning and they had all kinds of problems.
Avatar f tn I have symptoms of lactic acidosis but some of those are things you have with MS also! None of my Drs have ever mentioned this as a problem. But I have been on it for so long that it may be taken for granted...
Avatar n tn So wait, she said you had lactic acidosis and then tried to give you metformin? Is she trying to kill you? Metformin can cause lactic acidosis!
Avatar f tn Now a week later I feel the same lactic acidosis symptoms. I feel cold, weak.. Having muscle pains and always tired.. I also feel. constipated and I have pain in the bladder area Im hoping this will go away.. But if it doesn't what exactly can I do from here? Considering both meds are giving me these probs so early?
Avatar m tn Just talked to my doctor and he said it was not the drug causing this symptom and Lactic Acidosis from these drugs does not occur. He said it is a class warning but is not really relevant for these medications. Hmmm Hoping it's just the darn cold air we are getting. I usually tolerate cold pretty well too!
Avatar f tn After any strenuous running, (hard efforts of 1-2 minutes) I am breathing hard, lightheaded, highly nauseous, and usually vomit. This feels terrible (and is embarrassing and frustrating) and lasts about 20 minutes. Every other kid doing the same exact workout is totally fine, even the ones who are in far worse shape. I am hydrated adequately, I eat correctly, I have no other medical problems. I was cleared by a pulmonologist, cardiologist, immunologist, and sports doctor.
Avatar m tn increased sleepiness or unexplained lethargy, weakness, decreased or slowed heart rate, cold sensations, stomach pains, or FEELING LIGHT HEADED or have fainted either before or after taking Metformin she could be showing some of the symptoms of lactic acidosis. This is a dangerous syndrome and requires immediate medical attention. Contact her doctor and inform him/her of your mother's situation asap.
Avatar m tn It occurred about 2-3 days into my medication. I called my doctor and asked if it was lactic acidosis becase I was concerned. He assured me that it was just my body getting used to te meds, and the lactic acidosis was very rare and didn't happen often (if at all) with Hep B patients. 2 weeks later, it was gone.
976897 tn?1379167602 The byproduct of using this less efficient fuel is a compound called lactic acid that builds up in the muscle and causes pain. This leads to destructive lactic acidosis in the tissue which, if unchecked, leads to death of the myocardial cells. Also, I postulate that that heart cells are not uniformally of sufficient degree of vulnerbility or lack there of.
Avatar m tn jsut make lactic acidosis blood test or make tests to see if it was over reaction of your immune system, you cannot make guess on such an important matter also check if hbvdna is still so high lactic acidosis can also have no synthoms and takes months/years so i would say it was lactic acidosis until i see lactate blood test (it s italian, i don't know if it has same name in english).
Avatar f tn I'm a high school track runner and consistently have a bad reaction to lactic acidosis. After strenuous running, (hard efforts of 1-2 minutes) I am breathing hard, lightheaded, highly nauseous, and usually vomit. This feels terrible and lasts about 20 minutes. Every other kid doing the same exact workout is totally fine, even the ones who are in far worse shape. I am hydrated adequately, I eat correctly, I have no other medical problems.
Avatar m tn Your symptoms look like Lactic acidosis. You should go see your doctor to make sure you will be fine with that. You are not taking any risks by giving up Viread, the real life threatening risk is Lactic Acidosis.
225237 tn?1333138999 I recently started on metformin Er 500 mg at dinner. I have only taken it for for days.....I've been experiencing nausea, indigestion, frequent bowel movements. Has anyone else experienced this?? I'm so afraid of getting lactic acidosis!!!! The symptoms sound similar so how do you know which it is??!! Any help an advice would be appreciated!
Avatar n tn Under certain conditions, too much metformin can cause a serious condition called lactic acidosis, a life threatening condition where oxygen levels drop to dangerous levels. Set an alarm clock, ask a family member to remind you, place it in small dish next to you where you sit at night.
Avatar f tn lactate serum must be checked regularly, especially if there is advanced liver damage, i had it checked every 2 months at start and then every 4-6 months, since lactic acidosis is deadly and might have no synthopms it is better to check it closely
