Can GLUCOPHAGE or GLUCOPHAGE XR be used in children?
GLUCOPHAGE has been shown to effectively lower glucose levels in children (ages 10 to 16 years) with type 2 diabetes. GLUCOPHAGE has not been studied in children younger than 10 years old.
GLUCOPHAGE has not been studied in combination with other oral glucose-control medicines or insulin in children. If you have any questions about the use of GLUCOPHAGE in children, talk with your doctor or other healthcare provider.
I have hypothryoid disease ( all new to me ) and my doctor has perscribed glucophage to me to helped with irreglar menstral cycles.
t eat meat and jog 3 miles almost 5 times a week. I am prediabetic and very likely to get heart disease stroke and other fatal complications as I grow older.
Please advise me how to cure PCOS. Is there any way to reduce testerone level, which seems to be the root cause. All I am doing right now is controlling symptoms by trying to reduce insulin resistance. But that is not a permanent cure.
Does exercising, weight lifting increase testerone production in my body? I need correct answers.

I HAVE ALSO BEEN TAKING AN ACE INHIBITOR FOR ABOUT 7 YEARS (WITHOUT PROBLEMS) TO PREVENT RENAL HYPERTENSION (I HAVE HAD TYPE 1 FOR 23 YEARS) AND THE DR. TOLD ME I DIDN'T NEED IT AND TO DISCONTINUE ANY ACE INHIBITORS.
I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes late summer last year, im 17 about to turn 18 soon. I started by monitering my diet and still I needed medication, so my doctor prescribed me with Glucophage XR 500mg, 2 pills a day taken at same time.
I took birth-control pills so that I can have a normal period but then my Doctor prescribed me to take Glucophage 500 mg twice a day after food but it has side effects like dizziness, nausea, low blood pressure and diarrehea... I went to pharmacies and asked about the medicine ( Glocophage), they say its good but it is not making me feel good. The last pharmacy I went to suggested that I should take Glucophage XR. I still didnt take it, Im still using Glucophage.
Hello~ 33 yr old female w/ PCOS & was diagnosed w/type 2 6 yrs ago. I was not happy & revised my eating habits along w/ taking 500 mg of glucophage 2x daily. It took @ 1 1/2 yr, but I lost 50lbs & my b/s levels dropped to where my dr was took me off glucophage. I did fine & was off glucophage for @ 2 years. I started reverting back to my old eating habits(did manage to stay away from any sugar, my problem was carbs & fast food).
A year ago, my doctor gave me Lescol/Fluvastatin to take because I am a high risk for heart disease due to genetics and diabetes. At that time my Lipids were within normal range. After a month, ALT/AST results were very elevated.
and medication was discontinued. Since then, I've gone through ultrasound, HiDa Scan and finally diagnose of fatty liver. The Gastroenterologist recommended Liver Biopsy to check for liver damage.
i have done blood test on last month and my dibetologist asked me to take glucophage 500 on morning and januvia-100mg on night.after taking the same for 3 weeks my fasting sugar was under control.i m an IT professional.when i came to my work place ,bcz of work pressure and tensions ,my blood sugar level(fasting ) is getting high.
is it possible to take tahe same with glucophage 500 mg and januvia 100mg on night?

I have never heard darkening skin as a symptom of thyroid disease. You should see a Dr. Just a guess, but it could be due to an Adrenal issue.
Hi, I am a 24 yr old female and I am currently experiencing nausea after every meal, it started about a week ago. My gynae put me on Glucophage a little bit more then a month ago, but it couldnt be that as these symptoms have only started in the past week. I am also frequently going to the loo ( for a no2 ) shortly after every meal... My GP has checked for viruses and so on through blood tests and he says everything looks good and I'm healthy.
My Dr. wants to place me on Metformin or Glucophage. Does anyone here with MS take one of these? If so, what kind of problems might I expect? What good benefits do you receive?

I have PCOS too. I was diagnosed with it about 8 years ago. In dealing with my PCOS I've found that there is nothing predictable about it. At the heart of the matter, PCOS is an endocrine disorder, which basically means it messes with your hormones big time. It actually goes a LOT deeper than that and is something which I cannot fully explain because I just don't fully understand it. Nor do any of the experts so how can we?
but still not pregnant , he has now put me on clomid 150 mg and started me on glucophage, I am little scared to take the glucophage, although i read it increases fertility, should i take both, and if so what is the posibility of getting pregnant. and if not what is the next step???????
She said that I still not a type 2 diabetic but just to be safe she told me to start taking glucophage once a day for 1 week and increase to 2x a day after that. Then I will repeat my tests in January. Should I start taking the meds as she prescribe. I am not overweight and no one in my family is diabetic.
my husband has recently started glucophage he is having abdominal pain and sweats and headaches and nervous spells throughout the day. He is not having huge spike in his blood sugars. Should his body adjust to the medicine?
