Avatar f tn My blood pressure which has been low (110/70 or less) since a ovarian tumor surgery 4/2007, is now back up to 180/90 or higher and at the time of the angina it was 198/103but as soon as Nitro worked, it was down to 135/75. I am on Toprol xl (for high heart rate of 120 or above), venazepril, diuretic, fenofibrate, simvastatin, aspirin, Lantus, glipizide. I have lost 30 lbs since Nov. Lipids are down to normal limits now and I have been walking for my back and sugar.
Avatar n tn I have read many posts on this forum where users indicate that switching from Toprol XL to metoprolol er still report having problems. The generics are not always as good as the brand name ones. For example, I took the TEVA's generic version of Tenormin (atenolol), but when I switched to MYLAN's generic Tenormin, I had the most vivid dreams ever. The generic drugs are not always as good.
Avatar f tn Hi, I recently went on glipizide after a very bad reaction to victoza. I was losing weight, but now the glipizide is keeping me at the same weight. Has anyone had the experience that is the same? and is there a lower does that anyone has still been able to lose weight with? and yes I'm on a low carb diet and excercise plan. I'm doing better with this than I did before and I lost 33 pounds. It's the glipizide.
647391 tn?1275016633 "Do you take Glipizide once a day? " Yes, usually around 5-6am. I eat breakfast 30-45 minutes later. "If so, what is your blood sugars at the end of day." <120 mg/dl "I think the glipizide helps, but doesn't last the day." Don't rely on medications to do all the work for you. There there to 'help' you. Do you exercise and break sweat for 60 minutes daily? Are you at normal body weight? Are you eating a proper diabetic diet?
Avatar n tn I also take 500mg metformin after a meal(breakfast and dinner) and was advised to take 5mg glipizide before meals (breakfast and lunch) but sometimes I measure my bs before and notice it's sometimes 70-90 . A little about me: I don't eat at regular intervals, I don't snack , I have 3 meals a day . Wake up at 530 go to work, eat breakfast at 9 and then my lunch around 12 , dinner between 5-630. No snacks. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
Avatar n tn I have taken Toprol xl 25 mg for about 5 years. My doctor switched me to metoprolol several months ago. When I filled my prescription this time, it was from a different mfg and I think I may be having problems with it as I just don't feel right. Could changing the mfg make a difference? ALSO, my doctor prescribed 50 mg to be cut in half for my prescribed 25 mg dose. Does cutting this tablet in half compromise the time release?
4117735 tn?1349962369 Is it OK to double, or tipple, your medication? I take Glipizide 10 mg. The reason asked is that I have been monitoring my glucose and it has been between 200 - 300, and I would like to lower my readings.

Avatar m tn So nice to see that others are experiencing the same symptoms that I have been experiencing. Had all the tests, the blood work, kegs, nothing wrong. X-Rays, been in ER three times. Can't catch my breath. It's awful, but I know I'm not alone.
Avatar f tn My pharmacacy switched my "Toprol XL 50 mg" to a Generic one called "Metoprolol Succinate ER 50 mg" (manufactured by Sandoz) in December 2007. I have been on some form of Beta Blockers for years and I thought nothing of it. Within a week I was at my eye doctor because my left eye went from 20/20 to 20/60 and was so blurry that I felt like I had suntan lotion or something in it. Since then I have been to so many doctors because things just kept getting worse.
2053416 tn?1330411192 I also take glipizide. The gulmetza does not seem to be working for me. My sugars are in the 200 + - range. Is there another generation 1 or 2 diabetes medicine that I can take with the glipizide that will work as good as the actos did and not cost so much? I would like to get off the glumetza. I am really thinking about asking the doctor to put me back on insulin (novolin R). Thank you for your input.
Avatar m tn I spent 6 years taking Toprol XL, 100mg once a day. Started working with a trainer about 4 months ago and after two months they cut me down to 75mg when my pulse started dropping into the low 50's from the 70's. I was told to stop taking it immediately by two different cardiologists after suffering a fainting issue and visiting the er. It has been about 6 days since I stopped taking Toprol XL. Pulse is still in the 40's, bp fluctuates from 90/40 to about 105/55.
Avatar f tn actos, glipizide, insulin, nexium, simvistatin, seroquel, lamictil, prozac. cannot correlate with any particular food intake or other variables. occurs periodically; symptoms are transient.
Avatar f tn 4 days ago pcp changed my beta blocker from propranolol 40mg twice daily to metprolol er 25mg daily d/t low pulse in 40s- 50s. Been on propranolol for 22yrs for PVCS. She had me just stop propranolol and start metoprolol, been experiencing shakiness, occassional pvcs, headache, nausea, pulse still 45 - low 60s at rest and with exertion 70-90. Should she have tapered propranolol or will the metoprolol block the more serious withdrawal symptoms ie: HTN, chest pain ect.
