757137 tn?1347196453 ), Metformin and Glyburide. The culprit looked like Metformin to me, but I could not get him to discuss the problem with his diatetes specialist. He kept saying it would go away. About a year ago he developed extreme pain and I got him to the hospital by ambulance. He had a burst appendix. The surgeon described what he found. There was extreme inflammation and a necrotic mass.
Avatar n tn Hi Mare, I am also diabetic (7 years, the last 2 insulin dependent). I was treated with Glipizide, glyburide, lasix, glucophage, several others. They all have warnings against alcohol. I disagree with Pointman, however, about having your husband stop alcohol completely. One glass of beer or wine is not excessive. I do agree that what is most important is your husbands blood sugar level, that he manages his numbers.
604185 tn?1233960857 I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes and was on diet for a week. But the glucose level don't seem to fall in the normal range. Avatar f tn So if you dont eat and continue to take glipizide you run the risk of getting hypos. I say the risk as it depends what your BG is and how much glipizide lowers your BG. If you are on glipizide you should have a BG test meter to check your BG. So test to see how your BG is doing.
Avatar f tn Hi, I recently went on glipizide after a very bad reaction to victoza. I was losing weight, but now the glipizide is keeping me at the same weight. Has anyone had the experience that is the same? and is there a lower does that anyone has still been able to lose weight with? and yes I'm on a low carb diet and excercise plan. I'm doing better with this than I did before and I lost 33 pounds. It's the glipizide.
647391 tn?1275016633 It is pretty common for me to have them. I was switched to glipizide a couple months ago. I wonder if it is the right med for me. I tried to go the website you recommended and did not have success getting there. Once thanks for the response.
Avatar n tn I also take 500mg metformin after a meal(breakfast and dinner) and was advised to take 5mg glipizide before meals (breakfast and lunch) but sometimes I measure my bs before and notice it's sometimes 70-90 . A little about me: I don't eat at regular intervals, I don't snack , I have 3 meals a day . Wake up at 530 go to work, eat breakfast at 9 and then my lunch around 12 , dinner between 5-630. No snacks. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
6452556 tn?1381422100 Diabetics dont make enough or cant use the insulin we make, by taking Glyburide it forces the pancreas to make more insulin. This allows the cells to use the BG and store more BG as fat thereby lowering BG.

4117735 tn?1349962369 Is it OK to double, or tipple, your medication? I take Glipizide 10 mg. The reason asked is that I have been monitoring my glucose and it has been between 200 - 300, and I would like to lower my readings.
Avatar n tn my doctor wants me to change my medicine(from glyburide to methamorphin)is that mean that my diabetes is getting worst?I told them that I'm ok with glyburide because I'm using it for 8years now and I didn't see any bad effects on me.Can you please give me more helpful ideas?
Avatar f tn I read alot of negative things about Glyburide during pregnancy so I told my Dr I would not take it. Now she says I will need to be on Insulin. Does anyone know if Glyburide or Insulin are appropriate if your glucose results are all under 120? I thought medication for gestational diabetes should only be given if the results are very high but again I'm not sure.
2053416 tn?1330411192 I also take glipizide. The gulmetza does not seem to be working for me. My sugars are in the 200 + - range. Is there another generation 1 or 2 diabetes medicine that I can take with the glipizide that will work as good as the actos did and not cost so much? I would like to get off the glumetza. I am really thinking about asking the doctor to put me back on insulin (novolin R). Thank you for your input.
Avatar f tn I was always told that it can just make big babies and also the baby can come out with low blood sugar and that it is very important to just keep it in check and diet right. THey will want to give you pills to see if it will work and if not then put you on the shots but as a lst resort! I am high risk also, have had mc 5x and had 4 babies premature. NO regular OB will touch me once I get past 6-8 weeks. Didn't they get you specail diettary counseling for it?
Avatar n tn I was on metformin and had no issures, than she switched mr to glipizide 5 mg for a week 1 daily and than after 1 week raise it to 2 daily, so that may be problem in it self.
Avatar n tn I have elevated liver enzymes due to hepatic adenoma. Currently taking glipizide for high blood sugar, but is causing side effects. Weight gain, extreme low blood sugar, restless sleep. What can I take instead that will not affect the liver?
Tbd If your blood sugar is on target, and you continue to feel unwell you should talk to your Dr to get to the bottom of this. Wishing you good health.
