A recent month long cold with lots of coughing etc, no fever and more frequent bouts of shortness of breath sent me to see my PCP. I thought I developed pneumonia like several other people I know who had the same lingering cold.
After verifying my lungs were clear and my oxygenation was excellent he gave me an ekg since it was in my records that I sometimes would go into A Fib but always converted out to normal rhythm.
i was newly diagnosed 4 months ago- i'm taking glimeperide 1 mg and pravastatin 40 mg each once a day. my numbers are between low 80's and 120's. my big concern is my weight i was 161lbs 5ft 6 but i lost 40 lbs over the last year--last i got on the scale i was 117.5lbs the dr was new so he doesn't notice the weight loss although i get on the scale every visit ( only 3 ) my a1c was 5.8 and he said we'll do labs in a year?
the drug glimepiride, is not making my blood sugar level lower; instead is higher 250! I am taking 2mg twice a day. My doctor says all is OK.
He takes 2 tablets Glycomet Trio 1 (Metformin HCL Sustained Release, Glimepiride & Voglibose Tablets) - 1 before taking lunch and before taking dinner.
After this happened a couple of times I quit taking the Metformin. About a year later I was then diagnosed with T2 and am now on Glimepiride and have since began having these episodes again. They begin in the jaw area primarily the glands just below my jaws, with a sting/tingling that intensifies and radiates out all around my ears, neck throat and surface of my chest, and my upper torso goes ice cold. This takes place any where from a 30 second to a 3 minute cycle.
The main concern I would have about the addition to Lantus 20 units daily would be the risk of low blood sugar, especially in combination with glimepiride. Both Lantus and glimepiride can cause low blood sugar or hypoglycemia. Just make sure you're watching for the signs of low blood sugar, which are, sudden headache, feeling shaky, and weakness. There are many more signs of hypoglycemia and I encourage you to research it more yourself.
Please do not put off calling your doc today. I looked up Amaryl (glimepiride) and it is used by type 2 diabetics to lower glucose levels. There's a discussion going on in this forum about type 2, after long periods of time (how long is unk), reversing into type 1 diabetics. In your case it seems you are combating low glucose levels and may have a flipped 180º.
Let us know what your docs says. You will help a lot of readers by posting your history if you did turn into a type 1.
Well I'm 7 months that means I'm 27 weeks and I have only gain 1 pound my midwife said it was OK 4 me to not gain weight bcz I'm over weight so u girls tell me it seems like I won't have to do a lot of weight loss. How far are u nd how much you gain?

I know this is probably a stupid question, but I'm 36weeks pregnant and since my last doctors appointment I haven't gained any weight. I didn't gain weight in the 1st trimester due 2 sickness, but in the 3rd I've been pretty steady with my weight gain...at the very least a poun a week. And now it's been almost 2 weeks and still no weight gain. Could that mean anything? Or is it just normal? Thanks in advance!
I believe that prevacid can cause weight gain ..seems so many babies are now diagnosed with reflux we used to call it cholic and wait for it to pass now seems they put them on meds.Still your doctor would know the answer, I think its the meds and whilst you child ius on them he may gain weight.good luck once he is off the meds he may go down to a normal weight.
