glimepiride pancreatitis

My new doctor changed my prescriptions from regular Met to Met XR and added 2mg of Glimepiride. My BG's have been above 300 for last few months and nothing seems to get them down. Doc thinks this change should do it. I've only taken it twice now but since taking it I've been dizzy. Quite enough I need to lay down. I know it says this may be a side affect but does it go away? It brought my BG's down as I said from over 300 3 hrs after eating to 180 just now.

the drug glimepiride, is not making my blood sugar level lower; instead is higher 250! I am taking 2mg twice a day. My doctor says all is OK.

He takes 2 tablets Glycomet Trio 1 (Metformin HCL Sustained Release, Glimepiride & Voglibose Tablets) - 1 before taking lunch and before taking dinner.

After this happened a couple of times I quit taking the Metformin. About a year later I was then diagnosed with T2 and am now on Glimepiride and have since began having these episodes again. They begin in the jaw area primarily the glands just below my jaws, with a sting/tingling that intensifies and radiates out all around my ears, neck throat and surface of my chest, and my upper torso goes ice cold. This takes place any where from a 30 second to a 3 minute cycle.

The main concern I would have about the addition to Lantus 20 units daily would be the risk of low blood sugar, especially in combination with glimepiride. Both Lantus and glimepiride can cause low blood sugar or hypoglycemia. Just make sure you're watching for the signs of low blood sugar, which are, sudden headache, feeling shaky, and weakness. There are many more signs of hypoglycemia and I encourage you to research it more yourself.

Please do not put off calling your doc today. I looked up Amaryl (glimepiride) and it is used by type 2 diabetics to lower glucose levels. There's a discussion going on in this forum about type 2, after long periods of time (how long is unk), reversing into type 1 diabetics. In your case it seems you are combating low glucose levels and may have a flipped 180º. Let us know what your docs says. You will help a lot of readers by posting your history if you did turn into a type 1.

How are you doing with monitoring your diet? Do you get regular exercise and drink plenty of water? Sometimes the medications that are helpful and keep things under control for a while, stop working or just need adjusted.

Clonidine, Glimepiride, Byetta, Metformin, Amlodipine, Crestor, and Losartan HCT. Is it possible that it could be these meds? Please help!! I'm working by tail off and still have a GUT. Thank you in advance.

I currently take glimepiride 4mg twice daily and actos 15mg once daily. What is the sucess of these two meds. I continue to have high blood sugar levels.

My Kaci cat whom I just love so much is old (about 161/2 ) and I have been taking her to the Vet to get hydrated about every 4 days . She is not really eating well and I am really worried . Hi .. I have the same thing ... started a year or so ago with mild spasms in left back and front area .. now its pretty much constant and it's in my left hip and left shoulder. My mother has been suffering from Pancreatitis for the past 4months. She has been in hospital three times with severe pain, vomitting, and fluid in the abdominal. In that time she has lots over 25kg. Can the medicine Zanaflex cause Pancreatitis? I have looked up information on this med and it states that 1 out of 20 patients could develop liver damage. I was diagnosed with Pancreatitis on 10/14/08. I had never had it in my life. I am afraid this medicine has caused it. I have never ever picked up any type of drink other than diet pepsi and jucie. Vet called today, said Ozzie's level are over 1'000 on lipase count and that makes it sure it is pancreatitis, che chronic version. you are correct, cat food, being richer, has set off his pancreatitis. As you know acute pancreatitis can be a fatal event. It can also be transient. no one knows how your dog will do. Medications will decrease the severity of this event and sounds like if you get him over this you have managed his diet very well. I'd like to see his pancreatic work up and treat him to get him over this quickly and so that it does not progress further.

My chocolate lab "Skip" is about 10 years old and developed pancreatitis for the first time. We took him to the doctor he never vomited or diahrea until the day after he got to the vets office. His amalyse was high like 8000 and his glucose and white blood count low but we got an ultrasound to make sure not cancer. He started to show improvements with the IV and antibiotic.
