1068689 tn?1325827206 My new doctor changed my prescriptions from regular Met to Met XR and added 2mg of Glimepiride. My BG's have been above 300 for last few months and nothing seems to get them down. Doc thinks this change should do it. I've only taken it twice now but since taking it I've been dizzy. Quite enough I need to lay down. I know it says this may be a side affect but does it go away? It brought my BG's down as I said from over 300 3 hrs after eating to 180 just now.
Avatar n tn After this happened a couple of times I quit taking the Metformin. About a year later I was then diagnosed with T2 and am now on Glimepiride and have since began having these episodes again. They begin in the jaw area primarily the glands just below my jaws, with a sting/tingling that intensifies and radiates out all around my ears, neck throat and surface of my chest, and my upper torso goes ice cold. This takes place any where from a 30 second to a 3 minute cycle.
Avatar m tn The AAC/AHA have guidelines to treat coronary occlusions and as the COURAGE study indicates and other information agree that occlusions less than 70% should not be treated unless there are symptoms (ie, chest pain, etc) and if there are symptoms treat with medication. If medication does not effectively treat symptoms, then a stent implant, and if a stent is not appropriate because of size, location, etc. then a bypass.
Avatar n tn I had one Vada and two Idlys and a Upma in the breakfast, without tea or coffee. The Doctor changed my course of medication. She added two new drugs, viz Dapagliflozin 10 mg, and Rosuvastatin 10 mg.
Avatar n tn HI, It sounds like your wife will definitely need an additional medication--if not restarting the Pioglitazone, then an alternative. There are lots of different diabetes medications available that will help. Those glucose levels are indeed too high and should be addressed soon. Please ask your wife to contact her doctor as soon as possible(I suggest within the next 2 days a most) and discuss being started on another medication to bring her levels down.
Avatar m tn the drug glimepiride, is not making my blood sugar level lower; instead is higher 250! I am taking 2mg twice a day. My doctor says all is OK.
Avatar f tn He takes 2 tablets Glycomet Trio 1 (Metformin HCL Sustained Release, Glimepiride & Voglibose Tablets) - 1 before taking lunch and before taking dinner.
Icecream The main concern I would have about the addition to Lantus 20 units daily would be the risk of low blood sugar, especially in combination with glimepiride. Both Lantus and glimepiride can cause low blood sugar or hypoglycemia. Just make sure you're watching for the signs of low blood sugar, which are, sudden headache, feeling shaky, and weakness. There are many more signs of hypoglycemia and I encourage you to research it more yourself.
Avatar m tn Please do not put off calling your doc today. I looked up Amaryl (glimepiride) and it is used by type 2 diabetics to lower glucose levels. There's a discussion going on in this forum about type 2, after long periods of time (how long is unk), reversing into type 1 diabetics. In your case it seems you are combating low glucose levels and may have a flipped 180ยบ. Let us know what your docs says. You will help a lot of readers by posting your history if you did turn into a type 1.

Did you inform your new doctor of your weight loss concerns? 4. Did you discuss with your new doctor about lowering and/or taking you off your medication? 5.

Avatar n tn I went to an endocrinologist who put me on Vicotza and glimepiride. M numbers have dropped drastically. I am never over 150 now. Have been on it for maybe a month. So insulin is an option but there are other medications that help too. Problem with insulin is it cause weight gain which can perpetuate the over -weight high blood sugar issues! Vicotza can work as a weight loss aide as well. Call an endo soon!!
Avatar n tn I then told him my little experiment and asked if we could switch to something else. We are experimenting with just Glimepiride 2 mg for two weeks to see how I do. My last 3 A1C were 6.5,6.3 and 6.2. I was able to exercise for 20 minutes on the stationary bike this morning for the first time in a year without my legs feeling like they were going to fail me. Thanks again, rmworrywart.
Avatar f tn t comment on medication as your doctor knows your medical history and can see what best works for you. Medication dosage and/or adjustments to medication/s should only come from your doctor, not a stranger on a health forum. Steroids and cough medicines can create weird test results. Testing when sick or when taking medication other than for diabetes can and will skewer your test results. I don't test when ill.
Avatar m tn Dx with high blood pressure, diabetes mellitus T2 (FBG was 7.3), fatty liver (ASP and ALP elevated). Started diabetic diet and Glimepiride for 10 days. FBG was 6 or under but after 10 days I had hypoglicemic episode. I was shaking, cold, lost all my strength. The whole time my BG was 6. I ate few things. Bread and fruit. Shaking stopped. Doc said FBG of 6 and HbA1c of 6.3 should be managed with diet and exercise.
Avatar f tn I've recently been diagnosed with Type II Diabetes and started testing my blood glucose at home with the One Touch Ultra 2 monitor. The test strips that I've been given are pre-coded, so I do not have to do anything to my monitor prior to testing, other than insert the strip.
