1068689 tn?1325827206 My new doctor changed my prescriptions from regular Met to Met XR and added 2mg of Glimepiride. My BG's have been above 300 for last few months and nothing seems to get them down. Doc thinks this change should do it. I've only taken it twice now but since taking it I've been dizzy. Quite enough I need to lay down. I know it says this may be a side affect but does it go away? It brought my BG's down as I said from over 300 3 hrs after eating to 180 just now.
Avatar m tn the drug glimepiride, is not making my blood sugar level lower; instead is higher 250! I am taking 2mg twice a day. My doctor says all is OK.

Icecream ) But nearly all newly diagnosed patients start oral medications right away and some physicians are more aggressive than others because it is important to get diabetes under control as soon as possible to reduce risk of long term complications. The main concern I would have about the addition to Lantus 20 units daily would be the risk of low blood sugar, especially in combination with glimepiride. Both Lantus and glimepiride can cause low blood sugar or hypoglycemia.
Avatar n tn After this happened a couple of times I quit taking the Metformin. About a year later I was then diagnosed with T2 and am now on Glimepiride and have since began having these episodes again. They begin in the jaw area primarily the glands just below my jaws, with a sting/tingling that intensifies and radiates out all around my ears, neck throat and surface of my chest, and my upper torso goes ice cold. This takes place any where from a 30 second to a 3 minute cycle.
Avatar m tn Please do not put off calling your doc today. I looked up Amaryl (glimepiride) and it is used by type 2 diabetics to lower glucose levels. There's a discussion going on in this forum about type 2, after long periods of time (how long is unk), reversing into type 1 diabetics. In your case it seems you are combating low glucose levels and may have a flipped 180ยบ. Let us know what your docs says. You will help a lot of readers by posting your history if you did turn into a type 1.

Avatar n tn Hi Doctor, My wife has consulted the doctor as advised by you and he has prescribed Cetapin 1000 mg 1-0-1 (metformin) along with Glimy-4(Glimepiride)1-0-0-. Hope this is OK.
Avatar n tn Your fasting blood glucose has to get below 120. Try doing even 15 minutes of exercise every morning by walking, or even get $10 exercise bands and stretch every day with those. Your blood sugar will start to stabilize, but you may need try a 24 hour insulin like Lantus in combination. You need to be careful, because the insulin and pills cause sudden blood sugar drops if you don't take them properly.

Avatar m tn Dx with high blood pressure, diabetes mellitus T2 (FBG was 7.3), fatty liver (ASP and ALP elevated). Started diabetic diet and Glimepiride for 10 days. FBG was 6 or under but after 10 days I had hypoglicemic episode. I was shaking, cold, lost all my strength. The whole time my BG was 6. I ate few things. Bread and fruit. Shaking stopped. Doc said FBG of 6 and HbA1c of 6.3 should be managed with diet and exercise.
Avatar n tn I then told him my little experiment and asked if we could switch to something else. We are experimenting with just Glimepiride 2 mg for two weeks to see how I do. My last 3 A1C were 6.5,6.3 and 6.2. I was able to exercise for 20 minutes on the stationary bike this morning for the first time in a year without my legs feeling like they were going to fail me. Thanks again, rmworrywart.

Avatar n tn t pain while urinating, its fine but a slight burning sensaton on foreskin.I am taking some tablets prescribed by my doctor containing (glimepiride USP,pioglitazone hydrochloride, metformin hydrochloride). Is it ok to take these tablets? does this contain sugar?
Avatar f tn I've recently been diagnosed with Type II Diabetes and started testing my blood glucose at home with the One Touch Ultra 2 monitor. The test strips that I've been given are pre-coded, so I do not have to do anything to my monitor prior to testing, other than insert the strip.
Avatar f tn Doc has now increased the Metformin from 500mg twice daily to 1000 mg twice daily, but has left the Glimepiride at 1mg once daily (that low blood sugar reading was before the metformin had been incrased) Does my A1C number sound correct? Does the increase in metformin, but staying the same wiht the other med seem logical since my numbers had already come down with the lower dose of metformin and I had had a couple of instances of low blood sugar that caused symptoms?

Avatar f tn Of abusive relationships NOW! I see a lot of ladies post about nasty/abusive baby daddy's and continue to stay. While that is your choice, please make the right decision! When my baby was in NICU, I was EXTREMELY close with her nurse. We would talk all the time and she told me SEVERAL stories about her traveling to different states when she worked in the ER and seeing pregnant women come in BEAT UP by the baby's dad because they stayed & believed they would change.
