1068689 tn?1325827206 My new doctor changed my prescriptions from regular Met to Met XR and added 2mg of Glimepiride. My BG's have been above 300 for last few months and nothing seems to get them down. Doc thinks this change should do it. I've only taken it twice now but since taking it I've been dizzy. Quite enough I need to lay down. I know it says this may be a side affect but does it go away? It brought my BG's down as I said from over 300 3 hrs after eating to 180 just now.
Avatar f tn who practices for both hypertension and diabetes. He checked ECG for my dad. Which was normal. He consumes 2 tablets for diabetes and 1 for hypertension. But some times he still complains about dizziness. I check his diabetes 2 times a week and blood pressure daily. Analysis : Diabetes - (Glucose in blood) Fasting time : 120 - 130 mg/dl 2 hours after taking meals : 207 - 230 mg/dl Hypertension: 124 - 134 / 89 - 100 Today in the morning 4:00 AM.
Icecream The regimen may be aggressive, but not uncommon for a newly diagnosed patient. I do not know what your baseline lab values were (A1c, fasting blood sugars, etc..) But nearly all newly diagnosed patients start oral medications right away and some physicians are more aggressive than others because it is important to get diabetes under control as soon as possible to reduce risk of long term complications.
Avatar n tn I believe that it is more than likely side effects from the glimepiride for the T2. I am curious whether anyone has had similar side effects.
Avatar m tn This is a question for your pharmacist as I could not locate "IP". Normally USP is Rx'd. Amaryl [glimepiride] tablets come in various forms and colors. The letters IG [eye gee] is imprinted on three tablets [blue, pink, green] to designate strength.
1273125 tn?1365077526 I am taking 850 mg of Metformin twice a day. My morning blood sugar is around 200. I am close to or over 200 for most of the day as well. I have decided that until I can lose weight and get my numbers in control that way that insulin might be a good choice for me. I am afraid that it constantly being that high is going to cause damage. I have tried other medications such as Actos and Januvia but they did not make that big a difference. I tried the Byetta as well with the same results.
Avatar n tn I currently take glimepiride 4mg twice daily and actos 15mg once daily. What is the sucess of these two meds. I continue to have high blood sugar levels.

Avatar n tn I am a Type II diabetic person for the last 10 years. My age is 62. Last time when I took a review, I was surprised to notice that my Post prandial sugar reading was surged from 180 fasting ti 327. This was something alarming. Not the absolute value that concerned me but the surge of the rise from 180 to 327 in just 2 hours. I had one Vada and two Idlys and a Upma in the breakfast, without tea or coffee. The Doctor changed my course of medication.

Avatar m tn Please do not put off calling your doc today. I looked up Amaryl (glimepiride) and it is used by type 2 diabetics to lower glucose levels. There's a discussion going on in this forum about type 2, after long periods of time (how long is unk), reversing into type 1 diabetics. In your case it seems you are combating low glucose levels and may have a flipped 180ยบ. Let us know what your docs says. You will help a lot of readers by posting your history if you did turn into a type 1.
Avatar n tn If you do carry some extra weight, then losing those 10 pounds would be very beneficial because extra fat cells do cause increased insulin resistance. But for now, your fasting numbers are well within the normal range. Normal for a fasting glucose is considered anything between 70-126, according to my endocrinologist. Some endocrinologists alter these numbers a little, but you are within the normal range even if the 126 were lowered to 110, which some doctors tend to do.
Avatar m tn Dx with high blood pressure, diabetes mellitus T2 (FBG was 7.3), fatty liver (ASP and ALP elevated). Started diabetic diet and Glimepiride for 10 days. FBG was 6 or under but after 10 days I had hypoglicemic episode. I was shaking, cold, lost all my strength. The whole time my BG was 6. I ate few things. Bread and fruit. Shaking stopped. Doc said FBG of 6 and HbA1c of 6.3 should be managed with diet and exercise.
Avatar f tn 1. Are you experiencing any Glimepiride and/or Pravistatin side effects? If you don't know Google it. 2. Did you inform your doctor and Pharmacist of all medications Rx'd and OTC, vitamins, and supplements you are taking, including aspirin? 3. Did you inform your new doctor of your weight loss concerns? 4. Did you discuss with your new doctor about lowering and/or taking you off your medication? 5.

Avatar f tn Steroids and cough medicines can create weird test results. Testing when sick or when taking medication other than for diabetes can and will skewer your test results. I don't test when ill. I suggest you read the thread below, along with other threads on this forum, as I comment on correct test times, levels, and foods to eat and avoid.
Avatar f tn And it is not a precursor for diabetes. If it is in fact diabetic neuropathy you have than you have had unmanaged diabetes for quite a long time. Do get tested.
Avatar f tn I went for my first doctor appointment and they took blood and had me drink a super sugary drink and wait their for an hour to test for diabetes. They called me yesterday and said the test was high and they want me to come take a three hour one to see if I have diabetes. They also said I can't eat after ten the night before I go. Could I have diabetes because I'm pregnant? If so will it go away? I'm over weight, Im barely 5'1 and I weigh 180.
Avatar m tn My husband is Native American with both sides of his family testing postuive for diabetes.
