1068689 tn?1325827206 My new doctor changed my prescriptions from regular Met to Met XR and added 2mg of Glimepiride. My BG's have been above 300 for last few months and nothing seems to get them down. Doc thinks this change should do it. I've only taken it twice now but since taking it I've been dizzy. Quite enough I need to lay down. I know it says this may be a side affect but does it go away? It brought my BG's down as I said from over 300 3 hrs after eating to 180 just now.
Avatar f tn Metforman is good Glimepiride not so much, Many people think that taking drugs that FORCE the pancreas to pump out more insulin only burns the pancreas up faster. As I said carbs raise BG what does he eat. the heat in the kitchen should not prevent him from controlling his BG. I found control was easier and better when I went on insulin.
Icecream The main concern I would have about the addition to Lantus 20 units daily would be the risk of low blood sugar, especially in combination with glimepiride. Both Lantus and glimepiride can cause low blood sugar or hypoglycemia. Just make sure you're watching for the signs of low blood sugar, which are, sudden headache, feeling shaky, and weakness. There are many more signs of hypoglycemia and I encourage you to research it more yourself.
Avatar m tn the drug glimepiride, is not making my blood sugar level lower; instead is higher 250! I am taking 2mg twice a day. My doctor says all is OK.
Avatar n tn After this happened a couple of times I quit taking the Metformin. About a year later I was then diagnosed with T2 and am now on Glimepiride and have since began having these episodes again. They begin in the jaw area primarily the glands just below my jaws, with a sting/tingling that intensifies and radiates out all around my ears, neck throat and surface of my chest, and my upper torso goes ice cold. This takes place any where from a 30 second to a 3 minute cycle.
Avatar m tn Please do not put off calling your doc today. I looked up Amaryl (glimepiride) and it is used by type 2 diabetics to lower glucose levels. There's a discussion going on in this forum about type 2, after long periods of time (how long is unk), reversing into type 1 diabetics. In your case it seems you are combating low glucose levels and may have a flipped 180ยบ. Let us know what your docs says. You will help a lot of readers by posting your history if you did turn into a type 1.

Avatar n tn How are you doing with monitoring your diet? Do you get regular exercise and drink plenty of water? Sometimes the medications that are helpful and keep things under control for a while, stop working or just need adjusted.
Avatar n tn 5 years ago I started doing cardio and weight trainig 5 days a week with a trainer and eating a clean diet and have lost 50lbs and have maintained it. BUT my stomach WILL NOT go down. My trainer thinks it could be some of my medications and/or its interactions with each other. Here's a list of what I am currently still taking: Clonidine, Glimepiride, Byetta, Metformin, Amlodipine, Crestor, and Losartan HCT. Is it possible that it could be these meds? Please help!!
Avatar n tn Hi Doctor, My wife has consulted the doctor as advised by you and he has prescribed Cetapin 1000 mg 1-0-1 (metformin) along with Glimy-4(Glimepiride)1-0-0-. Hope this is OK.
Avatar n tn I currently take glimepiride 4mg twice daily and actos 15mg once daily. What is the sucess of these two meds. I continue to have high blood sugar levels.
1273125 tn?1365077526 I was doing well enough after 6 months to be taken off the Insulin, and the Dr added the Glimepiride to the Met. It controlled my sugar fairly well - A1C was never higher than 7.1, and is currently 6.8 - which the Dr is thrilled at for me only having half a pancreas... I still have highs (300) and lows (49), but overall not bad. If I were you, I would TRY ALL avenues with oral meds before making the decision with your Dr. to start Insulin shots.
538277 tn?1214680105 He has put me on Carvedilol 25mg 2x a day, Nifedipine (Procardia XL) 60mg 1x day, Glimepiride 4mg 1x day, and continued me on Phenytoin EX 300mg @ night (had 3 seizures in 20yrs -age 24, 34, & 46)& Ecotrin 325mg 1 @ night. Have major problems with diaherra, and diverticular disease. Hospitalized in May of '07 w/preferations starting - there for 3 days, back in ER 1 wk, no insurance - kept me on antibotics for about 2 months. Alegeric to pencillin, tetracycline, & opiates.
Avatar n tn I went to an endocrinologist who put me on Vicotza and glimepiride. M numbers have dropped drastically. I am never over 150 now. Have been on it for maybe a month. So insulin is an option but there are other medications that help too. Problem with insulin is it cause weight gain which can perpetuate the over -weight high blood sugar issues! Vicotza can work as a weight loss aide as well. Call an endo soon!!
Avatar n tn If you are in atrial fib, there is no way to measure it so the computer enters the number zero. The other numbers are all normal. The Intervals of QRS and QT measure conduction and recover times in your heart -- both are normal. The axis is the direction of depolarization of your heart and it is normal as well. The rosiglitazone component of avandaryl can cause swell and shortness of breath, particularly if you heart is not structurally normal.
Avatar n tn This was preprandial I test twice a day and I have been on metaformin and glimepiride for two years. I walk 3 miles a day or more.I do not ignore my diet. I have a a bad cold . Thanks for the lecture tho what I .
Avatar m tn Lunch is meat, veggies and sidedish(carbs) and dinner is bread and some spread or fruits and veggies. Also I have fruit and cracker snacks in the meantimes) I was very tired after 3 days without metformin so I started again (500mg). Three days later I am still tired - I just read on these forums to take Vitamin B12 - so I will ) I also take cinnamon and Chromium Piccolinate. I am perfectly happy to eat the diabetic diet. I have strong will.
Avatar f tn 5 hours my sugars spiked to 301. I ate some cheese and yogurt and within 1.5 hours they dropped to 179. My problem is that the symptoms are like that of hypoglycemia. I start to get clammy, confused, instant tears, I start to stutter and go into a blank stare. June of 2014 I had a grand mal (Tonic-clonic) epileptic seizure where I stopped breathing for about 30-40 seconds. They said it was due to my diabetes, this after having a CT scan, EEG, and EMG. Everything came back normal.
Avatar f tn 1. Are you experiencing any Glimepiride and/or Pravistatin side effects? If you don't know Google it. 2. Did you inform your doctor and Pharmacist of all medications Rx'd and OTC, vitamins, and supplements you are taking, including aspirin? 3. Did you inform your new doctor of your weight loss concerns? 4. Did you discuss with your new doctor about lowering and/or taking you off your medication? 5.
Avatar m tn (and this was after eating fried fish, w/tartar, green beans, cabbage, white roll and 44 oz. coke. i starting feeling real cold inside and "light". so i had a candy bar and coke. i called the dr. and he told to start taking half the tablet in the morning and half at evening. well the last couple of days i was only taking the half at noon. when i ate my first meal. my question is: how much and how quick can the blood level flunctuate? for example today.
Avatar n tn My Dr said that because both my parents were diagnosed w/ Diabetis type 2 at age 50 and 55 I am at increased risk of getting it. He said to be careful and reduce my weight by 10 lbs and watch the sugars and things should be ok or at least I could prevent the onset for now. I am 39 and male all cholesteral results are normal and BP is very good. What do I make of this? Also are glucose monitors accurate? I bought one and reads at 85 (fasted 8 hrs)?
Avatar f tn I've recently been diagnosed with Type II Diabetes and started testing my blood glucose at home with the One Touch Ultra 2 monitor. The test strips that I've been given are pre-coded, so I do not have to do anything to my monitor prior to testing, other than insert the strip.
Avatar f tn I have, however, had a couple of instances of lower blood sugars that have left me feeling quite shaky, headachy, etc. - lowest being 67 and I most definitely KNEW my blood sugar was low then - I drank some juice and it came up to a point where I felt better. Doc has now increased the Metformin from 500mg twice daily to 1000 mg twice daily, but has left the Glimepiride at 1mg once daily (that low blood sugar reading was before the metformin had been incrased) Does my A1C number sound correct?
Avatar m tn 115/75) is not a reasonable expectation - drop even just 20 lbs and just maybe your diabetes II med can be downgraded to merely pills (and maybe the glimepiride and losartan-hctz can be dropped or at least reduced); and with lower body fat, just maybe BPH would become a lesser concern Now, DICLOFENAC POT 50mg 3x -- of all your meds, this is the one I see as the most hazardous over the long term.
Avatar f tn Had my gallbladder removed at 21 and history of dormant HSV-2 and early onset Type-2 diabetes, foot and ankle arthritis and mild disk degenerative disorder and fungal infections in both foot and hand nails. Since my early to mid 20's I have experienced overwhelming cramping & bloating after eating which results in both constipation and diarrhea. Cramps are so bad that it stiffen's my entire body until it passes and occurs usually within 5 minutes after eating.
Avatar f tn But anytime I walked little faster or little longer the pain would appear again and I had to take rest for couple of days. This went on and off for about 2 weeks and then I thought I should take rest for 2 to 3 weeks. I took rest and the pain cooled down buy still Iwas having pains in different parts of the feet even during rest. This has been now around 2.5 months and I still have mild pain that move around at different places of feet and sometime lower leg.
Avatar m tn My relapse weighs heavy on my mind and you want to try and do something to help yourself and I want to know if I am helping or hurting myself.
