1068689 tn?1325827206 My new doctor changed my prescriptions from regular Met to Met XR and added 2mg of Glimepiride. My BG's have been above 300 for last few months and nothing seems to get them down. Doc thinks this change should do it. I've only taken it twice now but since taking it I've been dizzy. Quite enough I need to lay down. I know it says this may be a side affect but does it go away? It brought my BG's down as I said from over 300 3 hrs after eating to 180 just now.
Avatar f tn Metforman is good Glimepiride not so much, Many people think that taking drugs that FORCE the pancreas to pump out more insulin only burns the pancreas up faster. As I said carbs raise BG what does he eat. the heat in the kitchen should not prevent him from controlling his BG. I found control was easier and better when I went on insulin.
Icecream The main concern I would have about the addition to Lantus 20 units daily would be the risk of low blood sugar, especially in combination with glimepiride. Both Lantus and glimepiride can cause low blood sugar or hypoglycemia. Just make sure you're watching for the signs of low blood sugar, which are, sudden headache, feeling shaky, and weakness. There are many more signs of hypoglycemia and I encourage you to research it more yourself.
Avatar m tn the drug glimepiride, is not making my blood sugar level lower; instead is higher 250! I am taking 2mg twice a day. My doctor says all is OK.
Avatar n tn After this happened a couple of times I quit taking the Metformin. About a year later I was then diagnosed with T2 and am now on Glimepiride and have since began having these episodes again. They begin in the jaw area primarily the glands just below my jaws, with a sting/tingling that intensifies and radiates out all around my ears, neck throat and surface of my chest, and my upper torso goes ice cold. This takes place any where from a 30 second to a 3 minute cycle.
Avatar m tn Please do not put off calling your doc today. I looked up Amaryl (glimepiride) and it is used by type 2 diabetics to lower glucose levels. There's a discussion going on in this forum about type 2, after long periods of time (how long is unk), reversing into type 1 diabetics. In your case it seems you are combating low glucose levels and may have a flipped 180ยบ. Let us know what your docs says. You will help a lot of readers by posting your history if you did turn into a type 1.

Avatar m tn My MD switched me to Glimeperide my BG is good but my appetite and weight have increased a lot. Any one have the same issues? Also, my vision is fluctuating from blurry to sharp during the day, I do have Myasthenia Gravis which can have vision issues too. Any comments?
Avatar n tn How are you doing with monitoring your diet? Do you get regular exercise and drink plenty of water? Sometimes the medications that are helpful and keep things under control for a while, stop working or just need adjusted.
Avatar n tn 5 years ago I started doing cardio and weight trainig 5 days a week with a trainer and eating a clean diet and have lost 50lbs and have maintained it. BUT my stomach WILL NOT go down. My trainer thinks it could be some of my medications and/or its interactions with each other. Here's a list of what I am currently still taking: Clonidine, Glimepiride, Byetta, Metformin, Amlodipine, Crestor, and Losartan HCT. Is it possible that it could be these meds? Please help!!
Avatar n tn Hi Doctor, My wife has consulted the doctor as advised by you and he has prescribed Cetapin 1000 mg 1-0-1 (metformin) along with Glimy-4(Glimepiride)1-0-0-. Hope this is OK.
Avatar n tn I currently take glimepiride 4mg twice daily and actos 15mg once daily. What is the sucess of these two meds. I continue to have high blood sugar levels.
1273125 tn?1365077526 I was doing well enough after 6 months to be taken off the Insulin, and the Dr added the Glimepiride to the Met. It controlled my sugar fairly well - A1C was never higher than 7.1, and is currently 6.8 - which the Dr is thrilled at for me only having half a pancreas... I still have highs (300) and lows (49), but overall not bad. If I were you, I would TRY ALL avenues with oral meds before making the decision with your Dr. to start Insulin shots.
538277 tn?1214680105 He has put me on Carvedilol 25mg 2x a day, Nifedipine (Procardia XL) 60mg 1x day, Glimepiride 4mg 1x day, and continued me on Phenytoin EX 300mg @ night (had 3 seizures in 20yrs -age 24, 34, & 46)& Ecotrin 325mg 1 @ night. Have major problems with diaherra, and diverticular disease. Hospitalized in May of '07 w/preferations starting - there for 3 days, back in ER 1 wk, no insurance - kept me on antibotics for about 2 months. Alegeric to pencillin, tetracycline, & opiates.
Avatar n tn I went to an endocrinologist who put me on Vicotza and glimepiride. M numbers have dropped drastically. I am never over 150 now. Have been on it for maybe a month. So insulin is an option but there are other medications that help too. Problem with insulin is it cause weight gain which can perpetuate the over -weight high blood sugar issues! Vicotza can work as a weight loss aide as well. Call an endo soon!!
Avatar f tn I've recently been diagnosed with Type II Diabetes and started testing my blood glucose at home with the One Touch Ultra 2 monitor. The test strips that I've been given are pre-coded, so I do not have to do anything to my monitor prior to testing, other than insert the strip.
Avatar f tn So of you have say 2 drinks in an hour, your blood alcohol and your breast milk will have 0.08% alcohol. This amount is almost the same that is found in normal juice (yes there is naturally very very trace amounts in all juice). As long as you aren't drinking heavily and nursing at the same time, you are fine to have a drink every now and then without worrying about harming your baby.
3232858 tn?1437130677 In the past and when we were having difficulties trying to stabilize me with psych meds, he absolutely forbade drinking alcohol ic beverages. Like you, I hardly drink and very rarely do I crave or want alcohol. I prefer coffee when I feel the need for a "drink," so I don't consider myself an alcoholic.
Avatar m tn I wont go into "random" testing. Alcohol is a toxin so your Liver stops all other functions (and there are dozens of them) to detoxify your Blood. Its the liver that removes Met. So detoxing the alcohol can cause the Met to build up in your system. You dont say how much Met you take. To be a problem you would have to drink for a Looooooong time as in alcoholic behavior where so the liver never has a chance to go back to its other functions.
Avatar m tn m about to ask is not something I partake in on any kind of regular basis, we just think we are back in college and proceed to act and drink like fools. This trip is usually 5 days and consists of getting up at noon going to the pool and starting with the beer before we eat (extremely stupid I now realize) and basically drink beer all day and most of the night and pretty much only eating dinner.
Avatar f tn My doctors take a pee sample every visit and drug test every time they even ha e signs up that if you fail one it will be reported and they will call dss when baby is born (i don't do anything but that's my Dr's office)
Avatar f tn cool, if not dump that and test the next batch. Eventually, your milk will be free of alcohol and you can go back to nursing. Regardless, be prepared to toss out All that liquid gold...it certainly hurts to throw down the drain oz and oz of milk, but a night off sometimes is worth it.
Avatar f tn Yes I found out I was pregnant at 7 weeks I was getting drunk everyday and smoking weed taking pills and doing coke im 18 and have been threw alot and seen alot I lost my way in life for a while now im 33 weeks and my son is doing amazing
Avatar f tn Alcohol would beat the crap out of me and I could not recover for days. I know make my own Kombucha which has little alcohol, so I drink alot of that.
Avatar f tn Absolutely! It can interfere with ovulation and menstruation in a woman and it affects sperm count and motility in a man.
Avatar m tn Everything you're doing is seriously bad for your liver BUT that Tylenol and alcohol combo is DEADLY. Believe me. You need to stop the Vicodin NOW and address an alcohol detox. It's the only way to help your liver right now. After you do that, you could go to GNC and pick up some holistic drugs that support the liver, if you want. The best thing for your liver, though,is to stop feeding it toxins. What is your nutritional status? You don't weigh very much...
