ammonia

Avatar f tn I'm 6 weeks pregnant and I work in a paint department. I mix colors and clean up paint pretty much. Since I've worked there we have always used glass cleaner to clean the paint off the desk and our hands. I didnt know this until today but the cleaner we use has ammonia in it. I've been using it every day for a few months to get the paint off of my hands. Could it have hurt my baby?
Avatar n tn I recently worked with an epoxy that I had thought was an MSDS Health rating 2, which means: "Intense or continued exposure could cause temporary incapacitation or possible residual injury unless prompt medical attention is given." The warnings on the package suggest to avoid eye/skin contact, avoid breathing vapors and to work in "adequate ventilation" (note that no one ever explains what this means).

Avatar m tn Hi I am not a doctor but I would think that there would be an MSDS sheet that would explain the dangers. You already know that everything you we eat breathe and put on the body has to be processed by the liver. I will try to find something. and come back.

598816 tn?1219542566 I guess I have adverse reactions to ammonia products and pretty much any household cleaner with chemicals in it. Toxic mold can also create problems. My sister had recurring bronchitis and ear infections, as well did her 2 kids, several years ago when she rented a house that had a mold issue in their basement (they got out of it and immeddiately stopped having colds, infections, etc.). Another thing that I have heard that can cause problems is high CO (carbon monoxide) levels.
Avatar f tn i am working in the university's laboratory.Preparing for students practical classes. So i am dealing with alcohol, halogen, organic chemicals, inorganic chems etc... I've refer to the MSDS but there only stated the stability, toxicology. What is the term that show it is dangerous for baby? I din't see any doctor since the pregnancy test as i face no problem during the time. Should i just enter the clinic and ask for medicine? or go to pharmacy to uy the supplements?
Avatar f tn I heard it was the ammonia in windex so as long as u get the ammonia free u should be ok but id talk to my dr first
Avatar f tn Watch windex if u clean the windows i read last week on the bottle that it has ammonia in it, idk if its safe to be around ammonia but i didnt wanna take the chance because of how strong it is so i bought some ammonia free!
Avatar f tn I worked as a house cleaner in the beginning of my pregnancy and the Dr told me not to use the works toilet bowl cleaner, the degreaser we used, or anything with ammonia, like windex and stuff. I like fabuloso its baby friendly, and magic erasers.

1694467 tn?1306349372 The disposable bag in vacuum cleaner should then be tightly closed and thrown or burnt if possible. All stuff toys, pillows and other such items which cannot be washed, should be closed tightly into a plastic bag with no scope of air going inside. Keep this way for 3-4 days and then, place in sun for a few hours and reuse. Wash all clothes you have worn and linen in disinfectant water and soap, at high temperature. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar f tn Went for my labs yesterday and asked because i am almost 10weeks and they gave me a whole sheet saying how its dangerous wait until after 2nd trimester
Avatar n tn I looked up the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) for Jeltrate Dustless Alginate Impression Material and under emergencies, it states that ingestion (swallowing it) that "Material is probably not harmful is swallowed" and "Low order of toxicity is expected when material is ingested." If you want to, you may want to schedule your mom for a consultation with a GI (gastrointestinal) specialist to see what they may have to say about it. Hope that helps.

Avatar f tn There is a significant amount of research out there on plastic vs glass. Glass is safer, cleaner and better.
Avatar f tn Glass of wine with food is fine in third trimester, just drink it slowly.
Avatar m tn I also dry my face with a paper towel/kitchen roll sheet instead of a towel as I find it is cleaner than towels, could this be making my acne worse as small bits from the paper towel/kitchen roll sheets could be sticking to my face and clogging pores?
Avatar f tn What product do you clean with? I was just taking to a friend and she said it is not safe to clean with Lysol while pregnant but that is what I have always used. Have any of you heard Lysol is not safe to clean with?
152660 tn?1291755571 I saw an issue with this on "My Cat From Hell" and you have to use a cleaner w/an enzyme in it to get rid of the ammonia, etc, so your cat can't smell the urine any more and continue to want to use the same areas. What also was occurring in this episode was this cat felt she had no area of her own-make sure your cat has her own "territory" w/ her own climbing toys, window look-outs, etc, and adequate litter pans-esp in the offending area.
Avatar f tn I sent you the MSDS sheet, easy to find on line. Healthcare workers know what that is. You get training in this stuff every year. It says the fumes can cause dizziness and suffocation and it should not be used in a closed area.
Avatar f tn Ok so I work at Whataburger as front cashier and lobby cleaner. I clean with a variety of chemicals through out the day. Ex: Glass cleaner, Bleach, Degreaser, and more. What kind of chemicals should I be more careful with at work??? Which ones can hurt my baby girl???
Avatar m tn Other people can smell when a person has high ammonia levels on their breath. I have never heard of a patient who could. As with other body smells, the patient is accustomed to their own smell and can not smell it. The smell from ammonia buildup due to advanced liver disease is called "foetor hepaticus". It is the odor of the breath in patients with severe liver disease caused by volatile aromatic substances that accumulate in the blood and urine.
