Common Questions and Answers about Get percocet your doctor

percocet

1325672 tn?1290084214 Hi Grampy: Love the picture. You need to talk to your doctor about this. If your pain isn't being properly alleviated, he needs to know. For now, all I can advise is to use your meds as directed.
Avatar f tn For all those on scheduled daily regimens of pretty powerful drugs- Percocet, Valium and NSAIDs, I would STRONGLY recommend talking to your doc about BUTRANS patches. It is much safer, very effective and they don't take away your other meds. The patch can be a hassle but if I run out of my ever percocet early (7.5s- but sometimes with the valium I lose track and/or sometimes just need more than they prescribe) the Butrans will alleviate the w/d from the percs and also manage the pain.
Avatar m tn It builds trust and goes a long way in developing a good patient-doctor relationship. It has to be your call as to what you tell your physician, other than the current regime of prescribed meds are not effective for you. Good luck. I hope you are able to work this out with your PMP.
Avatar f tn I finally had to get my doctor to refill my restless legs meds (non addictive) to get some sleep. If nothing works, your doctor might help. Benedryl or OTC Alteril helps some with sleep issues and you will have them. One hour at a time is all anyone can ask. After 2 weeks it gets a little better and I started to say, One day at a time! Your brain will do all sorts of things to get you to take a pill. I found if I was hungry..the cravings got worse.
Avatar m tn Since your doctor is not your DOC supplier then you need to do what you can to get rid of the drugs in your life. This may mean cutting people out of your life who used to keep you supplied. Get rid of all phone numbers and drugs. Many times getting sober means starting over again...new friends, learning new ways to laugh and enjoy yourself again!
Avatar m tn Hello. I just wanted to ask when does it get better after percocet withdrawals? I took my last one exactly a week ago. The first 3 to 4 days was hell on earth. I feel a little better now after a little workout. It may sound weird but I was sitting on the front porch and I could smell flowers that my fiance had planted last month. Its like I had forgotten how everything smelled and tasted. I have been on the percocet for 5 years.
1462755 tn?1286048715 If you are still going to go on the program, please do research about it, for one, and take that time to get your life together .. get therapy .. find a support group ... so when you decide to come off of the Suboxone at least you may be better prepared. It is quiet this time of the day but stick around and listen to the members here. There are a lot of stories and great support! I wish you well.
Avatar f tn I have been trying to get off percocet. It started out bu just taking it here and there. But now I am up to 8-10 a day and Its all I think about. I buy off the strret. My doctor doesn't even know. I spend about 500 a month. I want to stop but just don't know where to begin. i feel so depressed that Ive let myself get addicted and I just wanted to know if anyone has any suggestions?
Avatar f tn We actually aren't allowed to give tapering advice here. It's against the rules as we aren't doctors and don't know your entire medical history. I suggest going to a different doctor or go into the ER and tell them your situation and that your doctor can't help you taper. They might have better resources. Good luck! It's so much better being clean!
2110255 tn?1334188549 The active opioid ingredient in percocet (aka oxycodone) comes in a pill without tylenol so if your tylenol intake through taking percocet gets to a level that is above your comfort zone, be sure to talk to your doctor about oxycodone IR or roxicodone. And, as the other poster stated...you won't stop breathing in your sleep as long as you take it as prescribed by your physician.
Avatar n tn I called her and she said this was normal and as long as I dont get a fever just continue to take the percocet and i should be fine. (i had finished my antibiotics by this time). I went through this for another week until the pain got so unbearable that I could not function. I called to make an appointment with her but she had gone out of town for 2 weeks. I was able to get an appointment with another surgeon in the same office for the next day though.
Avatar n tn chlonapin is something that helps with anxiety but again, if you can, just taper. if you can get some percocet, which is the same ingredient in oxycontin and just take small small dosages of percocet when you get really sick, that will help with the tapering, but just avoid the oxys as much as possible.. taper off them with some help from percocet. but whatever.. you have some hell to go through but the fact is.. YOU WILL BE OK at the other side. There is a light on the OTHER SIDE.
1536087 tn?1292526415 If you need the percocet then why dont you get it from the doctor? The only advice any of us can give you is to tell your doctor as that is the safest way. They will monitor you and the baby. We arent trying to be difficult here at all but you have another life growing in you and coming off meds needs to be done correctly as the baby feels what you feel. Are you scared to tell them?
Avatar f tn I personally think vicoden and percocet are pretty close when it comes to pain relief., but percocet may be a little stronger. Even if you did get your point across that your allergic to vicodin, they probably had you "pegged" as a drug seeker, like someone else suggested. It's a shame that when someone (the patient) is somewhat knowledgeable about their health, and medications, etc.
Avatar f tn Hi Has anyone successfully tapered off percocet? or is it too strong of a drug to taper down with?
15965 tn?1297622168 I have to dis-agree with some of the comments here. I feel that your Doctor has your best interest at heart. He basically prescribed the medication based on the dicussion the two of you had in the office. I'm sure that you explained the worries about becoming addicted or "dependant" which is the term you should be using. Yes, you had an increase but did he decrease the amount taken each day?
478811 tn?1208474960 I had major back surgery, a four level fusion, in october 2006. I was given percocet after the surgery, and was told to go to a special pain management place, where i went for over 7 months. because I was active 4 weeks after the surgery, and started to run around and take care of my kids and get back to my very busy life style, I never had real time to relax, and just "chill out". I stopped going to therapy in july, last year, put I continued to need the pain meds.
Avatar f tn Look especially into the blog and the info on Naltrexone therapy after getting clean. It really improves your chances of staying clean for good by cutting down your physical cravings. Look into my clinic website as well. All this can be done by clicking on my name in blue and on clinic logo. There is an injectable form available now that is covered by all major medical insurances called Vivitrol that he would need to get only once monthly to stay clean. Just keep it in mind for the future.
Avatar n tn Hi can you phone the Doctor you get the Percocet from , that's your best bet , Your Dentist should have asked you what med's you are on and checked himself/herself , But i would find out first , Take care ,
Avatar f tn After the lumbar injection, I am now having sciatic nerve pain again very severe too. I am feeling desparate to get my life back. Is it doctor shopping if I go to a new pain doctor? I been with the same pharmacy for 20 yrs too. Im so worried with all the laws , but I am merely trying to help myself to get better so I can be productive again. Thanks for any advise..........

Avatar n tn 40-60mg oxycontin and 2-4 percocet per day and about 15 tylenol with codiene. I am still getting the oxycontin and percocet from my doctor but trying to wean off without telling her. 4 days ago I cut back to 20mg oxy and 1 perc per day plus the tylenol with codiene. Other than some moods of depression and panic and a bit of discomfort sleeping I'm not having severe withdrawals. I'm wondering if this will get worse or if I can rest easy.....
1268301 tn?1270348507 I have had many Liver function tests done by my family doctor. I always get worried because even though I am careful to not go over the 24 hour limit, I take almost that every day for two years. Also I usually take either 5 Vicodin 5/500 or 4-6 Percocet 3/325 at once on an empty stomach. Last night I went to the E.R. because I was having some pain in the area of my Liver. Nothing severe but it was enough to worry me. They drew blood and did some tests...
