Geodon withdrawal side effects

Common Questions and Answers about Geodon withdrawal side effects

geodon

Avatar f tn Well, I am no doctor, but it does not take a genius to figure out that when all of these side effects happen within weeks of starting this medication, that the medication is the cause. Over the years I have had a horrible time trying to lose weight. I am usually very skinny and I have tried EVERYTHING to lose weight and nothing has worked!
596143 tn?1226648054 I diagnosed me with Rapid Cycling Bipolar, and Anxiety with dilusions. He put me on Geodon. What side effects should I expect? Tonight I felt dizzy, blurring vision, and sleepiness.
Avatar m tn During that time I was on the 40 MG for about 10 days and 80 MG for about 4 days. I had a slew of very bad side effects. However, I was forced to stop taking Geodon when I was rushed to the ER with a heart rate of 160 BPM. I was forced to stop Geodon cold turkey because of this and went on a Beta Blocker. Plus, I had bloodwork, CT scan of heart, numerous EKGs...all normal. However, long after stopping Geodon, I still am having heart issues.
Avatar m tn This is going to explain the side effects of Geodon better than I even can and I take it and experienced some of them but mostly only during the adjustment period. Side effects occur differently for each person. http://bipolar-disorder.emedtv.com/geodon/geodon-side-effects.
Avatar m tn If you have a problem with temporary movement disorders (extra pyramidal side effects) from Geodon or any antipsychotic they can give you a side effect pill for that. Informing yourself of the potential side effects of medications and more importantly how they help is a good thing. You could go to the websites we have linked up or the medication websites themselves and discuss the information with your psychiatrist.
Avatar n tn I have done some research and have found nothing good about this drug. She has all side effects. She is on day 1 with NO geodon.
Avatar m tn My withdrawals are causing me to have extreme anxiety (which I had during the time I took and it got much worse the longer I took it). My pdoc told me that I was having bad side effects from the Geodon. I was close to psychotic before he decided to take me off of it. He instructed me to taper off of the medication. This is to reduce the withdrawal from it. If you are thinking about stopping taking it, you should talk to your doctor. I took 20mg x 2 a day.
Avatar n tn I have now completely weaned myself off of Geodon, I am having terrible withdrawal symptoms such as shaking and shaky hands insomnia nausea light headed confusion, any info on it, will this go away?
Avatar f tn I'm taking Geodon and it can cause headaches and nausea as it's side effects. It also causes this really badly if you go through withdrawal from it. It may pass eventually as your body gets used to it but if not and it's unbearable you'll need to change medications. It was good that you took acetaminophen for your headache, hopefully it worked for you and numbed it. I had the dizziness and such from it as soon as I started taking it but that wore off after a few weeks for me.
Avatar f tn Has anyone else had these side effects from Lex? Anyone been on Lex for awile with no side effects, only to have them develop later? Don't side effects happen in the beginning only?
Avatar m tn my wife and i are noticing aggressive behavior, and paranoia(along with nhs therapist)she is currently in hospital(acute care)and docs and therapists seem to be ignoring this and are contemplating release after suicidal/homicidal threats, has anyone experienced or heard of such aggression from geodon?i did find side effects on web that confirm this could happen, but seems doctors cant find or have ever heard of this? can anyone shed light please!!!!!
Avatar n tn ve heard that the withdrawal symptoms for Geodon are pretty harsh. Someone I know in another online support group goes down 20mgs a week at the doctor's orders.
Avatar m tn m taking is a low dosage of geodon and perphenazine (20 mg and 4 mg), perscribed against paranoia, which i have not experienced for a whole year as my psychiatrist has continually allowed me to gradually lower dosage. but recently i have been getting these side effects of constant chills up my back that i want to stop and my own psychiatrist is absent due to sickness, flu or something, so he can't help me with the chills.
Avatar n tn i have chills right now too, i used to have them as bad as you, chills and shaking, when i took a high dosage of perphenazine, and at a different time when i had a urinary infection. many psychiatric meds have chills as side effects. until recently i was taking 20 mg geodon and 4 mg perphenazine and had mild chills.
603543 tn?1255294450 Med withdrawal is EXTREMELY uncomfortable. I was on Geodon for about two weeks and the side effects were horrible, and the withdrawal was even worse, and I had only been taking it for a short period of time. Is your doctor going to prescribe something different or are you going to attempt to go med free?
Avatar f tn Which is worse bipolar one or two. And has anyone taken geodon. If so what side effects did you have.
603015 tn?1329862973 If you stopped the medications abruptly those are typical withdrawal symptoms. It is dangerous to do that. If you are concerned about side effects or that they aren't working as they should speak to your psychiatrist. If you are ever authorized to go off any medication follow their exact titration schedule. I had this happen before recovery and I had some similar experiences so I would be careful and follow through in this manner.
1030383 tn?1338460785 t stop taking your meds without your doctors approval because the withdrawal side effects can be worse than the meds. It can be extremely dangerous and you just shouldn't do it. If you think you need off of them, talk to your doc.
447130 tn?1225470866 I'm on Lithium 300mg twice a day but my doc cut me down to 1 a day because my ankles and legs are swollen up like an elephant. Has anyone else had this happen, does it go away after you are on it for awhile? I;ve been on it 2 weeks and aside from shaking a lot that's the only side effect. I also take Geodon 120 mg. a day. Don't think it was Geodon because it didn't happen until I started the Lithium. I try to drink a lot of water to flush my system out but it's not helping.
Avatar n tn Went to my dr. today and he changed my meds. Took me off Zxprexa 20 mg and put me on Geodon 80 mg . I''m hopeful that I want have any any withdrawal symptoms. If there are any symptoms what should I be on the look out for?
Avatar f tn m BP1 with psychotic features and the only thing that seems to work without massive side effects is Geodon. I works for me. 4 days is not a long time. I was on Paxil for a short time and I ended up in the hospital with manic psychosis. The withdrawl from that was excrutiating for me. It was hell. Antidepressants and I don't mix. It doesn't mix for people with BP1.
Avatar f tn s complex as feeling dizzy and lightheaded can be a minor side effect of Geodon. As depersonalization is a departure from reality it is generally thought of as some form of psychosis (unless it occurs during anxiety attacks) so Geodon should treat it. If you did have this though it would have been there before the Geodon. You might want to discuss with your psychiatrist to see if it happpened before the Geodon and if not if they might want to try another antipsychotic as an option.
735919 tn?1236444549 I take 40mg Geodon and Lamictal. I do feel so much better, but i was wondering more about the Geodon side effects. I feel alittle more anixous im wondering if it is the Geodon.
Avatar n tn There are many alternatives available that do not cause these side effects and remember that everyone is different, so side effects are often different for each person. So another medication may not be as difficult for you and sometimes initial side effects fade after taking the medication for awhile. Good Luck!
