Common Questions and Answers about Geodon withdrawal how long

geodon

Avatar n tn I have done some research and have found nothing good about this drug. She has all side effects. She is on day 1 with NO geodon.
Avatar f tn Just wondering is it because of coming of the olanzipine. How long do withdrawal symptoms last? Has anyone else had the same problem coming off olanzipine?
Avatar f tn Thank you for responding to my question, but I still am not sure if the withdrawal of geodon is causing the nausea or what?? How long will the withdrawal symtoms last?? It has been 4 months. It is very difficult to be nauseaus every day for this long and not become down or depressed about it. I do not want to go back on any form of medication so would like to have a reasonable answer to how long these symtoms will go on for.
Avatar n tn My daughter has been on for about a week and her OCD symptoms have not gotten any better. How long did it take for the Geodon work on your OCD?
Avatar m tn i have no paranoid thoughts whatsoever, which is what the meds are against, just the chills are the problem. my psychiatrist doesnt know how to fix the chills. he is unacquainted w/geodon which he calls a recent psychiatric drug. i also had no paranoia on zero mg geodon and 4 mg perphenazine, just the chills. i tried 60 mg geodon and 4 mg perphenazine and that gave me worse chills. what do i do? i'm stuck in this situation.
Avatar f tn Oh god. Geodon has horrible withdrawal symptoms for most people who take it even after a short period of time. I hear it's like trying to come off of hard drugs. If you're lucky you won't have any withdrawal but I'm guessing you are by the nature of your question by asking how long your withdrawal should last. I unfortunately can't answer how long it will last from personal experience but I've heard it can last four weeks.
Avatar f tn I have been on geodon, an antipsychotic, for around ten years. I just went through a temporary taper, I found I was in withdrawal and had massive headache and flu-like symptoms and had to go back up. Subsequently, I did research on this and discovered that if I stopped taking geodon, I most likely would get Dopamine Agonist Withdrawal Syndrome (DAWS) and want to know if I'd be likely to get this were I to stop taking geodon because it wasn't effective in stopping drawn out acute mania.
Avatar f tn how about an anti--anxiety drug like Klonopin to help you sleep? i was on Geodon and within a few weeks i was convinced i had cancer. talk about bad side effects. i now know what paranoid schitzophrenics feel like. i was convinced my husband and doctors wouldn't tell me how sick i was. geodon is a very terrible mood stabilizer in my book. try something else. Lamictal? sorry about the weight - Seroquel should be outlawed i gained 40 pds just like the other poster. good luck.
Avatar m tn I lead a very holistic life and do not like how the meds make me feel.Having been on only 20 mlgs of geodon for almost a year now it is unlikely that I will go into mania again so long as I eat properly, exercise and get plenty of sleep.I had not been getting enough sleep when I first went into mania as well was on a strict raw food diet taking in minimal fat.I had dropped down to less than 100 pounds and was exercising on top of it.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had success getting off Geodon? How long does the mental withdrawl last? I've tried unsuccessfully two times. The first time I tapered off it within a week with my Psychiatrist and went through horrible physical withdrawl symptoms--painful stomach cramping, hot / cold switches and insomnia, but after two weeks, the physical symptoms subsided, but then detrimental mental lows of suicidal thinking.
Avatar f tn Saw pdoc Friday and started geodon 20mg x 2 a day, total 40mg. I had a splitting headache last night. Today have been off, stomach queezy, two times the headache came up and I took acetamiaphine. Now at bedtime I am ready to get sick to my stomach and feel awful. Does it react this fast or am I starting the flu? Anyone experience this, this fast?
Avatar f tn I need to get off of it but Everytime I do I start the withdrawal. Has anybody else been on geodon this long and gained so much weight? I even exercise and can't get it off. I feel terrible like I'm about to bust out of my skin cause I'm so fat now. Is there something else I can take that will allow me to lose the weight, not make me gain anymore weight, and work as well for bipolar1 with psychosis? Please, I'm dying to try anything right now. I'm tired of feeling bad.
Avatar f tn When I was transferred from Seroquel to Risperdal (at the titration rate my psychiatrist instructed me to follow) it took me several weeks of what I was told were "flu like withdrawal symptoms" (not unsafe but just uncomfortable) for them to subside. This has happened with other medications as well.
Avatar m tn How many people here have had to go through withdrawal? Specifically, was it cold turkey withdrawal? What was your experience and what medicine had you withdrawn from? Was it because your doctor messed up or because you were switching meds? Describe your experience here and insert it in this imaginary box on this message! Thanks.
Avatar m tn 150 milligrams of trazadone at bedtime, 120 milligrams of geodon at bedtime, 1milligram 3 times a day of lorazapam and 150 milligrams of wellbutrin 2 times a day.
Avatar n tn I have now completely weaned myself off of Geodon, I am having terrible withdrawal symptoms such as shaking and shaky hands insomnia nausea light headed confusion, any info on it, will this go away?
Avatar f tn t know how long withdrawals will last because when I had to go through cold turkey withdrawal I was able to take it again before the withdrawals ended. The second time I didn't experience withdrawals but had more rebound psychiatric symptoms. Coincidentally I switch from Geodon to Abilify basically (after a brief try of risperdal) and it works not as good on my psychotic symptoms but better on the negative ones.
Avatar m tn Does anyone here share an extreme paranoid fear of the effects of mind altering medications? What are ways of overcoming this fear? I've been extremely paranoid of taking most medication my whole life and even as a baby it was difficult to administer medication to me for some reason.
Avatar n tn ive been on geodon... about a lil over a year and in the residental im in they wont give me a direct connection about stopping meds.. im also on cogentin with geodon and zoloft. so i brought it upon myself to cut cold turkey.. i have been off since sat... its now tues. ivebeen experiencing dizziness and other feelings.. what does stopping geodon cold turkey do to you?
Avatar m tn //bipolar-disorder.emedtv.com/geodon/geodon-side-effects.html From Wikipedia in relation to your question about the heart problems associated with it: "It also slightly increases the QTc interval in some patients and increases the risk of a potentially lethal type of heart arrythmia known as torsades de pointes. Ziprasidone should be used cautiously in patients taking other medications likely to interact with ziprasidone or increase the QTc interval.
Avatar n tn ve heard that the withdrawal symptoms for Geodon are pretty harsh. Someone I know in another online support group goes down 20mgs a week at the doctor's orders.
Avatar n tn Well I take 40MG of Geodon in the morning and 80MG of Geodon at night along with some other medicine due to a high level of OCD. But a while back I went cold turkey on Geodon for 2 days because I couldn't get a refill. So during those 2 days these were my main symptoms, "insomnia, shakiness, heart pounding, dizziness, vision problems".
596143 tn?1226648054 just became too scared about the effects i as having..... i was off the geodon for two full days before i saw my pdoc and the withdrawal from it was pretty intense... flu like symptoms, hot/cold chills, shaky, extreme anxiety... it was truly a nightmare.....
Avatar n tn Hes putting me on geodon to try and get me off zyprexa and to see if i get better sleep. I am on 30 mg of zyprexa right now and life has been better, cause at one time i was on 40 mg. With all the medications I am on I still don't sleep that well. We both think I'm over medicated. The doctor says that I need to calm down and relax and wait for them to work and then he will start to slowly reduce my amounts and how much medications i am on. the objective right now is to fisrt stablize me.
Avatar f tn Which is worse bipolar one or two. And has anyone taken geodon. If so what side effects did you have.
