Geodon withdrawal effects

Common Questions and Answers about Geodon withdrawal effects

geodon

Avatar m tn It has other good effects as well, and the great thing about it, is that it has no bad side effects, and the good effects last longer than simply during the mindfulness exercise, especially the meditation. People use it for pain control. I can see hpw it would help with lessening withdrawal effects.
Avatar f tn The only thing Geodon did for me when I withdrew from it was give me violent hallucinations which landed me in the hospital. I was extremely skinny anyway because I'm on Topamax for alcohol abstinence; my dosage was increased; lost a little more which came back when I was put on Seroquel. Anyway, depending on what you were on the Geodon for, ask your doctor about going on Topamax. Weight loss is a side effect.
596143 tn?1226648054 just became too scared about the effects i as having..... i was off the geodon for two full days before i saw my pdoc and the withdrawal from it was pretty intense... flu like symptoms, hot/cold chills, shaky, extreme anxiety... it was truly a nightmare.....
Avatar m tn This is going to explain the side effects of Geodon better than I even can and I take it and experienced some of them but mostly only during the adjustment period. Side effects occur differently for each person. http://bipolar-disorder.emedtv.com/geodon/geodon-side-effects.
Avatar f tn I'm taking Geodon and it can cause headaches and nausea as it's side effects. It also causes this really badly if you go through withdrawal from it. It may pass eventually as your body gets used to it but if not and it's unbearable you'll need to change medications. It was good that you took acetaminophen for your headache, hopefully it worked for you and numbed it. I had the dizziness and such from it as soon as I started taking it but that wore off after a few weeks for me.
Avatar m tn If you have a problem with temporary movement disorders (extra pyramidal side effects) from Geodon or any antipsychotic they can give you a side effect pill for that. Informing yourself of the potential side effects of medications and more importantly how they help is a good thing. You could go to the websites we have linked up or the medication websites themselves and discuss the information with your psychiatrist.
Avatar n tn I have now completely weaned myself off of Geodon, I am having terrible withdrawal symptoms such as shaking and shaky hands insomnia nausea light headed confusion, any info on it, will this go away?
Avatar n tn I have done some research and have found nothing good about this drug. She has all side effects. She is on day 1 with NO geodon.
Avatar m tn My withdrawals are causing me to have extreme anxiety (which I had during the time I took and it got much worse the longer I took it). My pdoc told me that I was having bad side effects from the Geodon. I was close to psychotic before he decided to take me off of it. He instructed me to taper off of the medication. This is to reduce the withdrawal from it. If you are thinking about stopping taking it, you should talk to your doctor. I took 20mg x 2 a day.
Avatar m tn i felt mild but manageable chills on 20 mg geodon, 4 mg perphenazine, then my psychiatrist let me take zero mg geodon and 4 mg perphenazine. upon one day of taking zero mg geodon and 4 mg perphenazine i felt terrible chills up my spine. so i started taking 20 mg's geodon again. that didnt help, still the chills. so on the same day i took another 20 mg geodon, still the same chills.
Avatar n tn ve heard that the withdrawal symptoms for Geodon are pretty harsh. Someone I know in another online support group goes down 20mgs a week at the doctor's orders.
Avatar f tn Which is worse bipolar one or two. And has anyone taken geodon. If so what side effects did you have.
Avatar n tn many psychiatric meds have chills as side effects. until recently i was taking 20 mg geodon and 4 mg perphenazine and had mild chills. when my psychiatrist allowed me to reduce the 20 mg geodon to zero mg but still taking the 4 mg perphenazine, i started getting chills mostly in my torso/spine, but not shaking chills. i was on zero mg geodon/4 mg perphenazine for just one day and started getting chills. and when i took the 20 mg geodon back again with the 4 mg perphenzine i still had chills.
Avatar f tn Oh god. Geodon has horrible withdrawal symptoms for most people who take it even after a short period of time. I hear it's like trying to come off of hard drugs. If you're lucky you won't have any withdrawal but I'm guessing you are by the nature of your question by asking how long your withdrawal should last. I unfortunately can't answer how long it will last from personal experience but I've heard it can last four weeks.
603543 tn?1255294450 Med withdrawal is EXTREMELY uncomfortable. I was on Geodon for about two weeks and the side effects were horrible, and the withdrawal was even worse, and I had only been taking it for a short period of time. Is your doctor going to prescribe something different or are you going to attempt to go med free?
Avatar f tn I have been on geodon, an antipsychotic, for around ten years. I just went through a temporary taper, I found I was in withdrawal and had massive headache and flu-like symptoms and had to go back up. Subsequently, I did research on this and discovered that if I stopped taking geodon, I most likely would get Dopamine Agonist Withdrawal Syndrome (DAWS) and want to know if I'd be likely to get this were I to stop taking geodon because it wasn't effective in stopping drawn out acute mania.
Avatar n tn Went to my dr. today and he changed my meds. Took me off Zxprexa 20 mg and put me on Geodon 80 mg . I''m hopeful that I want have any any withdrawal symptoms. If there are any symptoms what should I be on the look out for?
1030383 tn?1338460785 t stop taking your meds without your doctors approval because the withdrawal side effects can be worse than the meds. It can be extremely dangerous and you just shouldn't do it. If you think you need off of them, talk to your doc.
Avatar f tn Also, on a side note, when I went through Geodon withdrawal (my clinic simply withdrawals us from medications and does not taper us down when changing prescriptions), my DP/DR episodes dramatically peaked until it was completely out of my system. My episodes are still chronic and debilitating, but during the withdrawal, they were absolutely horrendous.
Avatar m tn So I'm taking 40mg of Geodon for bipolar, though no psychotic symptoms. Now I know bipolar alone should deter me from taking mushrooms, and honestly I'm sure it will. And I know mixing recreational drugs with psychatric meds is a bad idea. Nevertheess, I have a question concerning the interaction between Geodon and psilocybin. From what I've read, psilocybin is an agonist to the 5HT2 serotonin receptor, which I assume means that it increases serotonin.
735919 tn?1236444549 I take 40mg Geodon and Lamictal. I do feel so much better, but i was wondering more about the Geodon side effects. I feel alittle more anixous im wondering if it is the Geodon.
Avatar n tn Hes putting me on geodon to try and get me off zyprexa and to see if i get better sleep. I am on 30 mg of zyprexa right now and life has been better, cause at one time i was on 40 mg. With all the medications I am on I still don't sleep that well. We both think I'm over medicated. The doctor says that I need to calm down and relax and wait for them to work and then he will start to slowly reduce my amounts and how much medications i am on. the objective right now is to fisrt stablize me.
603015 tn?1329862973 If you stopped the medications abruptly those are typical withdrawal symptoms. It is dangerous to do that. If you are concerned about side effects or that they aren't working as they should speak to your psychiatrist. If you are ever authorized to go off any medication follow their exact titration schedule. I had this happen before recovery and I had some similar experiences so I would be careful and follow through in this manner.
Avatar m tn my wife and i are noticing aggressive behavior, and paranoia(along with nhs therapist)she is currently in hospital(acute care)and docs and therapists seem to be ignoring this and are contemplating release after suicidal/homicidal threats, has anyone experienced or heard of such aggression from geodon?i did find side effects on web that confirm this could happen, but seems doctors cant find or have ever heard of this? can anyone shed light please!!!!!
