Anyone ever taken geodon with serequel?( rapid weight gain Being wean off geodon from 80 twice a day now 40 twice a day. If I stop taking geodon will I be able to lose weight? Do serequel cause weight gain? (200 at bed time) It sure helps me sleep.Dr will replace geodon with Lamictal and tompamax. Thanks for any feed back.

Now that I have stopped taking Geodon, I would like to know if anyone out there has been through the same experience with weight gain AND if weight loss is a side effect of coming off of Geodon? If not, is it easier to lose weight once you are off of the medication? I have my mind back and now I want my body back! Hope to hear some good news!

I got put on geodon almost 2 weeks ago, I am not sure if it is working for me me but I have actually lost weight since taking it. I was on remeron and that made me gain weight, then he just did change my meds and diagnosed me borderline bipolar. I hope that helps you, I would try it for atleast a month good luck!

Hi I have read on other sites that geodon makes u gain weight. I have gained weight eat salads and fruits. And still gain weight has anyone else has a problem likes this. I heard topamax does not make u gain weight. Any help. Thanks so much.

I am on seroquel and abilify, and so far they havent caused any weight gain for me, or weight loss! I was on geodon at one point to, but that was a nightmare! You will have to sit back, and see what happens. If you really dont want the weight gain, then exercising should definitely help! I cant say for sure either, what the result will be!

I was on Geodon after Abilify made me gain weight. The Geodon , for me, didn't work for bipolar symptoms but I am a diificult case. Abilify was the only med that worked. However, I did loose weight on Geodon and for the 2st couple weeks had an usdet stomach. If this drug works for you, and you know it's trial error for us anyway, I think you'll be please with the lack of side effects. I didn't even know I was on it after a week.

Included in my regimen are Geodon and Cymbalta. I noticed when I added the Geodon, I am not as hungry and food does not always taste as good. It has improved over the course of the year, but I have other more bothersome side effects from the Geodon. It has helped me in so many ways, I stay on it. I'm on Geodon 80mg. with Clonazapam 1mg. and Trzadon 50 mg./ for Bipolar Disorder and have been for many years. The only complaint I have is really a BIG ONE to me. Weight Gain like the past three months 30 lbs. But The worst was the Generic Zyprexia 80mg. I had to stop taking it beacuse ai felt like a tic ready to pop! Even my bra sizes kept getting bigger and bigger thats how much weight I gained, After I stopped taking it' The Dr. put me back on the name brand GEODON!

The risperdal was causing weight gain that I was not comfortable with. The geodon has worked fine although I am now weaning off it too. At first I was taking 160mg a day. Now I'm down to 60mg a day. I'm starting to go down a little lately but I don't know if it's from the decreased dose of geodon or not. I'm weaning off of all my meds right now.

I then took Seroquel for several years and my weight stayed stable, but still overweight 60 lbs. I then took Geodon (Zeldox) and within a year I had lost 30 lbs without changing anything in my diet or exercise. For the first 10 months I felt great. I had so much more energy, I felt like I was coming out of a long period of being a zombie. Unfortunately I had to stop Geodon because it started causing anxiety.

150 milligrams of trazadone at bedtime, 120 milligrams of geodon at bedtime, 1milligram 3 times a day of lorazapam and 150 milligrams of wellbutrin 2 times a day.

I am on Topamax for my migrains and for weightloss, well I am taking Geodon as well for depression, my question is.... If I am taking geodon will the Geodon which can cause mild weight gain counter act the weight loss with the topamax??

All antipsychotics CAN make you gain weight, but some are worse than others. Geodon is supposed to be weight neutral, and Abilify mostly weight neutral (won't make you gain or lose). Saphris has gotten a lot of good reviews in the weight department, and I believe Latuda has as well, but these are both still brand only, which might affect insurance coverage (and will affect cost). Unfortunately, there's no way to know for sure if a med will cause you problems without trying it first.

I take Geodon however I have never been prescribed seroquel. I was never told that Geodon would help me lose weight but I have heard that it has a chance of lower weight gain than other medications. I have been on Geodon for about 4 years. I like it for the most part other than I keep having bladder infections and I have been told that Geodon could be the culprit. soooo i switched from abilify to geodon bcuz of my weight gain does any1 take geodon??? if so how r the side effects???

I need to get off of it but Everytime I do I start the withdrawal. Has anybody else been on geodon this long and gained so much weight? I even exercise and can't get it off. I feel terrible like I'm about to bust out of my skin cause I'm so fat now. Is there something else I can take that will allow me to lose the weight, not make me gain anymore weight, and work as well for bipolar1 with psychosis? Please, I'm dying to try anything right now. I'm tired of feeling bad.

So, My daughter has bipolar, we've tried a few medications. Abilify caused massive wieght gain - so we've switched to Geodon. She's been taking the Geodon for over a yr now and we've had this problem that I can't seem to change with anyother variable.... thus I'm asking if anyone else has this issue with Geodon.

To the poster on Abilify -- you should research drugs and not just think about them because they're getting a lot of advertising. Abilify is only approved for depression when all other meds have failed. It has a high side effect profile, and is usually used for augmentation, not stand alone.

Geodon is known to cause weight gain and I have experienced weight gain on both Depakote and Seroquel and requested that my psychiatrist discontinue both medications, which he did do. The bright side however, is tat with propeer diet and exercise the weight did come off and I had gained 40 pounds. The problem is finding the right medication or combination thereof that will control your symptoms and not cause weight gain.

I forgot I take geodon right before bedtime. I'm getting up to urinate at least 4 times a night. And I forget what I'm saying in the middle of a sentence.

Geodon is a great mood stabilizer for many people. It has a low incidence of weight gain and very few side effects. I was on it for 4 weeks but unfortunately it didn't work for me but most people have success with it. I switched to Abilify and it works great for me!

My brother has been on 160mg Geodon since 2/2008. He is having severe memory problems. Is it due to Geodon? He has schizoaffective disorder. He was also put on cogentin and inderal.

As depersonalization is a departure from reality it is generally thought of as some form of psychosis (unless it occurs during anxiety attacks) so Geodon should treat it. If you did have this though it would have been there before the Geodon. You might want to discuss with your psychiatrist to see if it happpened before the Geodon and if not if they might want to try another antipsychotic as an option.

He wants to move me up to 40. does this anxiety stop any time soon. i take litmical(sp) to 200mg.

I was on Geodon for about 3 years. About six months of overlap with Zyprexa at the beginning - it took forever to get off of Zyprexa - and almost a year of overlap with Seroquel at the end. It was a good drug in general. I remained relatively stable the entire time I was on it, but still experienced significant sleep problems. Eventually tried Seroquel because I had already been on all of the others (I had problems with Abilify, too) and it tends to have more of a sedative effect.

After searching for the right combination of medicine for my bipolar illness because I was often non-compliant to my medication regimen due to weight gain, I found the right mix with Wellbutrin/Geodon. However, though I lost weight on the combination ( I weighed 107 pounds on a 5'1" frame), I was diagnosed with an eating disorder (anorexia with binge eating).
