518117 tn?1429276273 The psychiatrist that treated Todd in the hospital prescribed him Haldol, Lithium and Trazodone upon release. I am really concerned about this combo of meds, as Todd is acting very odd. Seems overly medicated to me. He is scooting his feet, rather than picking them up while walking. I call it the hospital shuffle, as I have seen people in hospitals do this when overly medicated. He just sits and says very little. Almost like in a trance.
440120 tn?1211724496 I was taking Haldol for my bi-polar and it made me too sleepy. I also took Trilafon and it worked well, but there isn't any $4 plan for it. I found out that my Pharmacy has a program for me to get Abilify for free so I want to give it a try. I was wondering if there are any bad side affects to look out for.
Avatar m tn I have taken Geodon, Haldol, Saphris, Risperdal, Seroquel, and Fanapt in just a year and a few months. Also just knowing that Fanapt can cause Tardive Dyskinesia scares me and would have me constantly paranoid if it is going to start. I wanna know if it is a good decision to take this drug until my numbness completely subsides and then stop it. I will bring all of this to the attention of my psychiatrist, but i just wanted to know what you think. Thank you.
Avatar f tn my neighbor is on paxil, 20mg and he says that his body twitches sometimes when it is in the resting position. i used to have shaky hands when i was on 15mg of haldol. as it was reduced the shaking went away. there is something called EPS, extra pyramidal symptoms, which is a side effect of certain psychiatric medications. There is also tardive dyskinesia, which is a long term, irreversible side effect of those medications. I was on 40 mg of paxil without the shaking of the hands.
Avatar m tn A bit of history. He was in prison for a short time and while he was there they gave him a cocktail of haldol, geodon, prozac, depakote, remeron and cogentin all at one time. He was on this cocktail for 12 months. When released he no longer had the medications and had very bad withdrawals of intense tremors. Of course these subsided but he has these episodes of violent jerking of his legs and shoulders. When his legs kick, he does experience a painful heat sensation in his lower back.
Avatar f tn I took Geodon but not with Triliptal also. I was allergic to Geodon, but that was my body.
Avatar f tn My husband was on a similar medication for similar reasons. He experienced EVERYTHING you are dealing with. After he was off of his medication, (Haldol) it did take some time for him to regain "feelings" but they did come back. Hope that gives you some peace of mind :) Take care and hope you are doing better very soon!
1221258 tn?1267542429 Temporary movement disorders such as akathesia and dystonia are very common. Those can be treated with a side effect pill. If a person develops any abnormal movements that are diffferent from the ones that have before or especially if the movements dont' come and go with the dosage of the medication but are continuous and random and involuntary those should be called to the attention of your psychiatrist immediately. They should do a movement disorders test at regular intervals regardless.
Avatar f tn t know her prior condition and I do not know if she woke up like this before the haldol, or if the haldol is having an accute effect on her. Anyone know about Haldol for sedation for MRI in stroke patients? How long it can last?
Avatar m tn Hello! I receive a 100 mg injection of haldol decanoate on July 27th and I've been dealing with an uncomfortable side effect for the past two months. I get this staring problem where I fixate on small details around me and I can't look away. Like I'll stare at the taillights of the car in front of me or the specks of herbs in my food. And when I try to close my eyes, my eyelids flutter rapidly and I see flashes. And my eyelashes scratch my eyeballs.
Avatar f tn I was wondering should Haldol be used for detox or for treating withdrawals? Especially since Haldol stays in the system and has long term side-effects?
Avatar f tn I am going through my 3rd bout of panic attacks (lasting 1+ weeks VS. one every once in a while). 1st time I was about 14, 2nd time 27, & now again @ 32. I take Lexapro & usually only take .25 mg Xanax on an 'as needed' basis but have been taking one every 6hrs for almost a week since this 3rd bout started. Some days are better than others & I am trying to cope the best I know how. I saw a new therapist that I like very much for the 2nd time yesturday.
735919 tn?1236444549 thank you for the info on Lamictal, but does anyone take Geodon? I take 40mg Geodon and Lamictal. I do feel so much better, but i was wondering more about the Geodon side effects. I feel alittle more anixous im wondering if it is the Geodon.
1618236 tn?1408072214 I am currently taking Haldol 0.5 mg twice a day, Trazodone 50 mg and Doxepin 50 mg for my anxiety and depression symptoms, can you please tell me if these are all okay to take together and am I suppose to take these with food or milk? Is Haldol a dangerous drug combined with the other two medications?
3058980 tn?1340515938 Risperal is know for breasts growing, and I even started to lactate. Yikes. That was a deal breaker. I think (not 100% sure) all of the antipsychotics can do that but risperadol is the worst by far and away. So that is why he probably went with an older med. I have never heard of anyone having breast issues with Haldol so I think that side effect is a lot rarer. Mind you Haldol isn't used that much and usually not used long term anymore so that could be why I haven't encountered it.
Avatar m tn So I'm taking 40mg of Geodon for bipolar, though no psychotic symptoms. Now I know bipolar alone should deter me from taking mushrooms, and honestly I'm sure it will. And I know mixing recreational drugs with psychatric meds is a bad idea. Nevertheess, I have a question concerning the interaction between Geodon and psilocybin. From what I've read, psilocybin is an agonist to the 5HT2 serotonin receptor, which I assume means that it increases serotonin.
Avatar n tn I have been on Wellbutrin off and on for 10 years, on Cymbalta for 4-5 years and Geodon for 4 years. I have been on Geodon 40 mg at times, but recently for the last year or so, on 20 mg. Recently, my psychiatrist bumped me up to 40 mg again. It seems like the last time I was on 40 mg, I also had anxiety and obsessive thoughts. I was just wondering if anyone else had the same experience with Geodon, since that is the only thing that has changed recently.
Avatar f tn ve been feeling suicidal and a bit depressed. Has anyone else had the same experience on geodon? Is it the geodon or Just depression emerging? I really appreciate the help.
Avatar f tn Supposedly the 2 newer ones Geodon and Abilify cause the least amount of weight gain if any. I read about them in a study and the best was Geodon with no incidence of weight gain, and Abilify had very little chance of weight gain. The older drugs tend to cause more weight gain. However; having said that I attended a Bipolar support group meeting and we voted on this issue and only one out of 22 people would rather be sick than be healthy and gain a few pounds.
Avatar f tn Anyone ever taken geodon with serequel?( rapid weight gain Being wean off geodon from 80 twice a day now 40 twice a day. If I stop taking geodon will I be able to lose weight? Do serequel cause weight gain? (200 at bed time) It sure helps me sleep.Dr will replace geodon with Lamictal and tompamax. Thanks for any feed back.
Avatar m tn That actually appears to be one side effect of Geodon but given that all (current) antipsychotics have anti-cholinergic side effects that could happen with any antipsychotic and given that people react differently to each one perhaps it was the medication you were transferred to rather than the Geodon helping it as Geodon is less likely to cause anti-cholinergic effects than some other antipsychotics.
100309 tn?1328041299 Was it Haldol? Haldol is an anti-psychotic and Reglan (an anti-nausea) is also in the anti-psychotic family. I was given Reglan a long time ago because I had a CSF leak from a LP, I was in severe pain and the Reglan made me FREAK out! I have heard of some ER docs giving IV Haldol for HA, although it does cause some pretty bad adverse side effects! UGH, I can sympathize with you.. After they gave me that Reglan, it felt like I was going to have a heart attack. I was anxious times a million.
Avatar m tn Hi~~ It's diazepam/Valium and then he was on Haldol !! OMG..Haldol is used to treat psychosis. Poor baby had some troubles... V.
Avatar m tn i felt mild but manageable chills on 20 mg geodon, 4 mg perphenazine, then my psychiatrist let me take zero mg geodon and 4 mg perphenazine. upon one day of taking zero mg geodon and 4 mg perphenazine i felt terrible chills up my spine. so i started taking 20 mg's geodon again. that didnt help, still the chills. so on the same day i took another 20 mg geodon, still the same chills.
Avatar m tn 150 milligrams of trazadone at bedtime, 120 milligrams of geodon at bedtime, 1milligram 3 times a day of lorazapam and 150 milligrams of wellbutrin 2 times a day.
