My main issue was the binge eating at night when i was on geodon and seroquel. Ive been on geodon for 10 years and eventually was On such a low dose 40 mg that I just quit cold turkey. I did up my seroquel to 400 mg to eliminate the withdrawls. (im quite the pharmacist) I have actually been loosing weight rapidly. So glad I found the right cocktail! i'm 29 its about damn time!!
s good to know about the half life of Geodon. Since I take my major dose at night and not in the day, virtually, I am without it during the day! It does help calm me down at night and helps me sleep, but it's after I have been wired all day long. I tell you, it's just incredibly difficult to make it through the day sometimes. I am exhausted all of the time. My mind won't quit racing and I "what if" myself to pieces.
120mg of Geodon is a high dose to start out with, very high. I started on a low dose and worked my way up. However, Geodon caused me panic attacks so I switched to Lamictil. It caused me suicidal ideations and migranes. Now I am just on Wellbutrin and Abilify. They work wonders for me, great combo. So, how come you are on so much meds? Depakote and Risperdone are very corrective for BP so why is he slapping you onto Geodon too??
I was wondering what the therapeutic dose generally is to treat bipolar 2? I have been going to my family dr and am on 100 mg of lamictal and 300 mg well Orrin. However I am still very depressed and wondering if this is the right dose?
I was put on geodon after risperdal too. The risperdal was causing weight gain that I was not comfortable with. The geodon has worked fine although I am now weaning off it too. At first I was taking 160mg a day. Now I'm down to 60mg a day. I'm starting to go down a little lately but I don't know if it's from the decreased dose of geodon or not. I'm weaning off of all my meds right now.
i read on the geodon thats got me all messed up..he prescribed me a lager dose then i would have thought..60 mgs anight for 2 weeks then 120 mgs the same..tell me about the heart abnormalities from this geodon that a possible effect of arrhythmias..this can be fatel....when i took serquil 2 yrs had to stop it for tachycardia....so yes im suppose to be taking this tuseday night.came here to get some facts..or someone to explain these effects to me.. I CANT WAITE ANY LONGER..
Has anyone had akasthesia while on Geodon? I've felt very restless lately, and I've had a hard tiime sitting still. My doctor lowered my dose, and hopefully that will help. In the meantime, I'm struggling with this problem.
I'm starting Geodon this week. I've been told it's more sedating than the Risperdal that I was on so I've been advised to take it at night.

many psychiatric meds have chills as side effects. until recently i was taking 20 mg geodon and 4 mg perphenazine and had mild chills. when my psychiatrist allowed me to reduce the 20 mg geodon to zero mg but still taking the 4 mg perphenazine, i started getting chills mostly in my torso/spine, but not shaking chills. i was on zero mg geodon/4 mg perphenazine for just one day and started getting chills. and when i took the 20 mg geodon back again with the 4 mg perphenzine i still had chills.

I never had a problem with constipation on Geodon, but that is me. I don't really take a massive amount of fibers, just the recommended amount on average of fruits, vegetables and high fiber grains. but I also walk alot, and drink 6 to 8 glasses of water or more if I sweat alot. I eat meat, btw, also.
This is a question with your post asking about the difference between Sinus Tachycardia and SVT in mind, All of your tests showed normal heart and Sinus Tachycardia. Did you start the beta blocker, Metoprolol, when you started showinf withdrawal symptoms from Geodon? Normally, people don't get metoprolol for just having Sinus Tachycardia and everything else is fine. It also sounds like there is anxiety involved?
We weaned off the risperdal and I started geodon about 10 days ago, real low dose 20mg. I was okay for a bit,,,of course I'd been okay while I was off everything too until I wasn't. (Kind of like it always rains after a dry spell, being okay till you weren't anymore) So anyway I started the geodon. A few days into it, my wife asked me if I was okay. I was a little talky,,not sleeping much yada yada. Then today I got depressed and was hiding from everyone in my closet.
I am currently on 40mg of lexapro and my therapist prescribed 80mg of geodon once a day. I took the geodon one night and the next am I was extremely sedated. I had blurred vision, slurred speech and I felt like my body had lead in it and it was hard to move. I stopped taking it and after a week I still feel spacey and have some tingling in my hands and feet. Could I be having these feeling because I had such a strong reaction to the med? I am afraid these symptoms are permanent.
